Paying tribute to the smaller B movies of the genre, The Intruder is a 2011 short film I wrote, shot, produced, edited, and directed. The film stars Tonya Dodds, Greg Rombis, and Lawrence Bill. Synopsis: House-sitting a country home for the weekend, a young woman is haunted by a stranger on the telephone.
YEAH I NOTICED THE HALLOWEEN REFERENCE TOO WHEN HE STEPPED OUT AT THE TOP OF THE STAIRS HOLDING THE KNIFE, LOL. ALOT OF HIS MOVEMENTS REMINDED ME OF MICHAEL MYERS. GREAT FILM!!!
This was great, I was sitting at the edge of my seat through the whole movie. Movie was great from the beginning to the end. Love the intro. The only issues I had with it was the part when the girl says "Hello, Hello? Fuck!", it felt weird. I also thought the sound was too loud in some parts. But overall, it was great. 9/10.
I love this film! I started to doubt I was going to be scared until the guy on the phone said, "did you lock the door?" That was terrifying! Awesome film!
23 minutes felt like 5 minutes to me, this felt intense and nerve wracking! This is the first time I watched any of your films and it gets me to want to check out more! Awesome film, Dave!
well done, the tension build up was carried off well, the first intro of the "somethings here" music was too loud. But I don't understand when he had time to get into the car. Of course, that is an old trick and it still works. This was a good little scare ride. Thanks for sharing it!
This was great Dave! They should play this in theatres before a horror movie, it was that good. This would b an excellent short movie to play before showing Halloween this October. Top notch in my book Dave!! I'm gonna forward and share it with family and friends that enjoy horror!
This exceeded all expectations I had. I was thoroughly creeped out when the musical stings started, even when there was no action. I'm not all the way through, but I can't wait to see how it ends.
Whoa. Just finished. If Michael Myers and Ghostface gained the reproductive needs necessary to have a child (stay with me here), it would be that guy. It was brilliant all the way through. There were some dead spots in the audio that I believe could have been filled more, but the pauses were the correct length, musical stings were placed at the correct moment, and the cinematography was truly perfect for that house. I always looked through the glass behind her and sometimes there was someone there, sometimes there wasn't. I give it a 9/10 for the adrenaline rush that I haven't felt for a long time. Well done, Dave.
Great short film.... I have a thing about sitting with my back to doors or windows so she had me yelling at her to "move away fron the windows" suspenseful, really liked this one! 👍👍
Anybody else notice the black cat going out the "open" patio door during the "Did you lock the doors?" scene? Either a goof or amazingly subtle nod to the doors being open. Let's hear it Dave! Great film FYI 👍
Screen door appears closed the whole time. Could have been added to the GOOFS section on IMDB had this been on there......and it damn well should have been! Great job again Dave!
I love watching your short films. They have an abundance of mood and intensity that is palpable. It's criminal you are not a major director in this genre. Production question to ask. Near the end when she is in the car and we hear sirens going by, did you happen to lift that from Halloween II? It sounded vaguely familiar to my horror ears. As always great job Dave.
I know you are deep into production with its me Billy but is it possible in the future that you will be making a professional halloween fan film with what your doing will It's me Billy?
looking forward to watching this i haven't yet. Am expecting some good cinematography here! Dave am gutted bro John Carpenter is coming to Glasgow on October 19th for his anthology tour my 2 best mates got the last 2 tickets to meet him (£165) they are not even massive Halloween fans like me!!! He has also sold out all his other venues in Europe. October 19th would have been the best day of ma life meeting JC then going to see Halloween 2018 same night!!! But it wasn't to be.
I only have one question, how did the killer beat her to her car? That part left me scratching my head, otherwise, I love the atmosphere of this short film and I was thinking it was the going to turn out to be the boyfriend unless there were two killers and he was one of them which would solve the getting to the car part.
I mean overall really that the movie was good. But the ending with the killer killing the girl at the end ruined the whole movie. I mean maybe if I just cut off that part then I can deal with it but overall no way not a great movie.
yeah but it's been done so many times in horror movies today, at least the Friday movies don't do that, Nightmare, Halloween, but today all the newer mostly movies are just downbeat. I just hate that. I will say the movie was shot good, written decently but that ending is just killed it. But I respect your Opinion.

THIS WAS SO GOOD!!!!!

I really enjoyed this Dave! You know how to build suspense. Tiptoe through the tulips has got to be one of the creepiest songs of all time.
Great movie! Loved the camera shots! And I forgot how much I loved when a stranger calls!! Now I want to watch it!! Thank you Dave!

AWSOME Dave!
Great movie dude the atmosphere gave me chills.
That was awesome! It reminded me a little of - when a stranger calls. Gotta admit, I jumped when he popped out from behind her in the house!
Great stuff Dave, really enjoyed it. Would love to see you do more shorts if possible.
as a horror movie lover I gotta say you did a fantastic job! I can see your passion for the genre.Keep at it!

Mate for a short film that was intense and suspenseful. I can see some elements of When a stranger calls & Black Christmas. Bravo.
That was great, loved the subtle homages to halloween, amazing work dave, hope some more stuff is in the future.
GREAT FILM!!!! I LOVED IT
Ok this was ACTUALLY creepy. Predictable, but presented in a creepy way. Nice job Dave 🙂👍

Greta job Dave, I had a lot of fun with it!
Well done Dave! I really enjoyed the creepy atmosphere you created. Gave me the uneasy sense. 👍
Great Job Dave! Very creepy and intense! The setting is very isolated and well thought out, it is perfect for this film!
This should’ve been the When a Stranger Calls remake instead of the one we got a few years ago.
Great movie Dave
Holy crap that was sick dude
That was pretty good man I enjoyed that little film

Rick Baker thanks Rick! Appreciate the kind words. And no, that was actually just a sound effect that I have in my stock Library.
Wow! Amazing movie brother
Love it you are very talented and multitalented. 😎
Great creepy atmosphere and score! The acting was good too!
This was well made, Dave.
It reminds me of the awesome movie "When a Stranger Calls" (2006).
This Assassin Is Inspired In Ghostface ? Man This So Cool ! !

Great job Dave 👍.
This Is Awesome !
Brilliant!
Good job Dave had to watch it on my big screen
Brent bromberg Hopefully it looked all right for you. The film was rendered in a codec for UA-cam, and really isn't rendered out for the big screen.
Dave McRae it looked just fine. Thx Dave
Great short film. Really eerie. Funny enough, I wrote a short horror screenplay titled "The Intruder" a few years back.
Very tense. Only question - was the cat supposed to be in the film? I caught a glimpse of the cat walking out of one of the sliding doors?
Good job, I enjoyed that! What was it filmed on? 🙂
This is awesome! Reminds me a bit of Black Christmas
That was fucking awesome!!!!
I know you are deep into production with its me Billy but is it possible in the future that you will be making a professional halloween fan film with what your doing will It's me Billy?
Great job, Dave! I only wish that the intruder had a mask. Masked villains are always terrifying, especially the ones that don't convey any emotion.
Awesome!
Love it brotha
looking forward to watching this i haven't yet. Am expecting some good cinematography here!

21:24 Is/was that one of your Family Member? (Because of "McRae" don't understand me wrong)
Wife? dude, think about it for a moment.. it says 1944-2011, that would make Dave's wife 67. LOL. I think it's more than likely his mother.
Symbolic Raid Sorry, that line was making me confussed xD I apolegize for my Mistake.
This was Mcraezy! (see what I did there?) I loved this film so much!
Well he scared the crap out of ne😮
Ok leave doors open??? Wth so it was the cop?
Really good film, i liked it 🖒.

Hans Grueber 9p
Lol. If that was my wife he would have been dead pretty quick. She doesn’t mess around :D
She walking????
Wait who's Patricia
I think you should've given him a mask, or kept his face in the darkness
Dave "100%" Mcrae
This sounds like ghost face
Parents
Good movie then the ending became downbeat. That I thought it was eh. Ruined the whole movie for me.
I mean overall really that the movie was good. But the ending with the killer killing the girl at the end ruined the whole movie. I mean maybe if I just cut off that part then I can deal with it but overall no way not a great movie.
