Playing as Arachnids and destroying a city in Starship Troopers: Terran Command

  • It's big, its messy and have alot of... bug ;)
    UA-cam dont like dark videos soo i am sorry if the quality is not great, tell me what you think of this scenario and do you think it will be better to be daylight or it will be to immersion breaking.

    ----------Story Background --------
    In this custom scenario made in Terran Command Map Editor we play as Arachnids invading a border city from within in the middle of the night. Nothing suspecting citezens are now trapped between city border walls that are constantly tested by probing bug attacks and the new emerging threat that we are in control.

    I can see the devs making a 1v1 gamemode where the Federation player has to hold out for so long while the arachnid player creates tunnels and swarms to overrun the Federation. Would be fin to play.

      would be similar to tiberian sun tactics where NOD player could wreck havoc and end the game prematurely by sending subteranean APC's directly to the heart of enemy base (providing that GDI player didnt paved the floor that is) :P

    If by suggestion you mean ideas for new maps to make, got three.
    1. Split surface/underground map broken into two parts. The first part depicts the arachnids breaking into the sewers/underground tunnels and going around infesting them and wrecking vital control systems that affects the surface city map. Like destroying an armory underground causes a set of wavebreakers protecting the surface city to also be destroyed. Or destroying a powerplant opening a series of gates that were hindering the surface advance. Or taking a control point underground causes a hive on the surface to activate. etc. With a way to get all the bugs from the underground out after all subterranean objectives are done so the player can more directly participate in sacking the city alongside the allied swarms that they've only been able to watch up to then.
    2. staging an arachnid breakout from a federation laboratory. Picking up more and more bugs as the player goes along and opens cages/containment areas, eventually opening up some sort of hole in the exterior defences so that the allied swarms outside can pour in and act as cannonfodder for the clean up of the facility.
    3. More maps like the 'outpost 29' map. Honestly had forgotten that game exists. Though I guess some of them you'd need to use stand ins for as they include bug species that aren't in Terran Command.

      For now the Editor does not allow mixing ground and underground levels, for the secound point i have really similar thing work in progress ;) and about the 2005 remakes i am almost done with Plasma mountin and Stronghold missions

    Interesting scenario, the city / fortress was simply overrun, like arachnoids would / should do. I really got "traitor of mars" or "whiskey outpost" vibes. :) Maybe some scripted "desperate airstrikes on the own position" by the federation airforce to slow you / the AI down would also be interesting if possible or some speakers with federation speeches to "increase the morale" of the mobile infantry.
    Sadly the MI seems static, no reinforcements, no repositioning, no fleeing. How about some mission timers for MI reinforcements or emergency escapes? Like if you can't get them fast enough they strike back or they escape and the mission is lost.

      It's possible to add reinforcements for them as a timer or on objective complition and i have it on upcoming scenario ;)
