I discovered Reasons to Believe through Hugh Ross's astrophysics teachings. Reason's to Believe has to be my number one source of information other than the Bible in all matters concerning Christ. I highly recommend it!
Zechariah 12:10 and 13:6 written 500 years before Jesus! The messiah would be pierced in his hands! Isaiah 9:6 written 700 years before Jesus! God would be born!
Psalms 22 says nothing of crucifixion. lines 16-18 can be interpreted as such, but to outright say it predicts crucifixion, at least according to the english translation, seems a bit of a stretch to me. if someone could enlighten on what the ancient hebrew language used in these verses is, I thank you.
The story of Jesus saturates the metanarrative of the Bible, and prophecies of His first advent are found throughout the Old Testament. Allusions to Him also come up in micro ways, as many people and events hint at the work He would accomplish. One scholar, J. Barton Payne, has found as many as 574 verses in the Old Testament that somehow point to or describe or reference the coming Messiah. Alfred Edersheim found 456 Old Testament verses referring to the Messiah or His times. Conservatively, Jesus fulfilled at least 300 prophecies in His earthly ministry.
I have several of your books. I greatly respect your work Thank you Question: several mention that Jesus fulfilled over 300 prophecies, even David Jeremiah in a sermon of his. I’ve heard that number (300) several times. But what’s the list? I’d like to study for personal use and potential evangelism or apologetics
Revelation 19:10b says…” worship God; for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy. “ And Peter after seeing Jesus transfigured and hearing the voice out of the cloud “this is my beloved Son…” says in 2 Peter 1:19 “And we have the prophetic word more fully confirmed, to which you will do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts…” For Jesus The Messiah to fulfill hundreds of prophecies given thousands and hundreds of years before he ever came is beyond probability. It is the word made more sure , He is certainty and we can have total confidence in that testimony. He is the Rock we are to stand on. We Christians have certainty it’s up to us to believe in that certainty. And boldly proclaim with confidence the gospel as we have received it…
00:12 it is claimed Jesus fulfilled "over one hundred old testament prophecies about the future coming of the messiah." I suspect that number is somewhat inflated, as the word "messiah" doesn't appear in Scripture more than 100 times, and we all know Jesus did not fulfill ALL of the Biblical prophecies concerning the messiah, or there would be no need for a second coming. I think that ACTUAL NUMBER of prophecies fulfilled in and through Jesus is somewhere around two or three, neither of them messianic. 00:20 "He was to be born in Bethlehem, Jesus was born in Bethlehem." There's no prophecy that the messiah would be born in Bethlehem. 00:25 "We see he is to be of the tribe of Judah." But the first thing the New Testament did was throw the lineage of Jesus into the wind! Matt 1 tells us the husband of Mary was of Judah, but then it says that man was not the father of Jesus, because Mary was pregnant with Jesus before she had had sex with Joseph, her husband for the first time. That means he has a hard time proving he was of any tribe at all, much less one specific one in particular. 0040 "In Zachariah it tells that he would be betrayed by a friend and for the price of 30 pieces of silver." No, it doesn't. 01:15 "Psalm 22." Really? Jesus is "a worm, and not a man"? 01:30 "My God, my God, why have you butchered me"? (See the original wording, "lama sabachthani", not "lama azavthani," as in the Psalm!)
Im not the best bible scholar at all... so when I was reading. Pslams an ran into Psalm 22 I leapt out of my chair! like holy crap! LOL.. was very cool.. also talks about you can count all my bones, pierced my hands an feet... was wild! fun when you find it yourself! BOOM!!!!! moment.
the prophecies he "fulfilled" were simply events that were easily expected to happen, and with insight and manipulation they can be more or less perceived as an ancient to do list that got popularity over the world

Jesus was foretold by prophets 500yrs before his birth. Amen. Praise jesus the lord our god
Too bad the Jews missed their own Messiah!!
