These guys are true warriors. Humble, positive attitudes, and fierce on the mat. Always enjoy training with you guys and learning from you. Thanks David and Zach!

I agree with David. You absolutely have to trust the technique. I remember trying a technique and abandoning it when I thought it didn't work. Later I realized sometimes you have to fully commit to the technique. Now I'm learning how to stay connected to my partner and it's definitely a game changer. Good video as always.

These are great videos I love hearing people’s perspectives on things especially jiu jitsu. I feel I can learn something new just by hearing what others have to say like in this video.

Really enjoy these video's, cheers for making them. A little tip for ya buddy. You can buy these little mics that clip to your collar and Bluetooth the signal to a particular phone. They're only around £5.00 (about $7.00) on Amazon, and they'll really improve your audio.

Sounds very similar to my experience under a Royce black belt - only differences being no 45 minute warm-ups and I was at blue for almost 5 years…55 year old 1 stripe purple…so much more to learn…

Hi Ryan, another great vblog. I respect my instructor and he's a very accomplished 4th degree black-belt, but since I'm older, not sure if he can coach me to a colored belt. So this vid has brought to my attention your teaching may be at a different plane than I'm currently experiencing. ?? I'm his lowest progressing white-belt. Probably my lack of absorbing any skills and age. ?? But I cant give up and disappoint my grand-kids!

Yes, those were some of the first vids I watched. I'm just kinda on the fence about my schools instructor may have lost patience with my inabilities and age. I am the oldest student, and the next oldest is about 5years younger at 49. New guy comes in and starts class only 3 weeks in, and smashes me in less than a minute. Yes, he's in his thirties, but after 20 months of training, I didn't expect to tap out so quickly. Oh well, I guess the younger guys wouldn't want the old guy coming close to beating them. Thanks as always Ryan. Keep up the great work!

@@KamaJiuJitsu way cool you responded. If I move to Texas in the summer of 2023 I will join Kama jiu jitsu. I prefer to train self defense oriented GJJ not sport. You should consider doing an update interview for David and Zack.

can you weigh in on recently one of Atos fighters Josh Hinger commented on Rickson Gracie Self Defense is outdated. You don't have to comment on Josh but perhaps shed light on those who may share the same sentiment. I know Tristar Coach Zahabi mentioned something of Rickson in the same regard.

while i have not weighed in on this specifically, i have done at least a few videos on the subject. we at Kama Jiu-Jitsu don't believe it's outdated. others are free to feel it is. we are tribal by nature and like to think what we do is better than an alternative because of the time spent doing what we do. it can be said for me, for sure, but i really don't think so. there's plenty of room for both opinions.
