it blows my mind that you are able to fly safely in the weather like this from the grass strips, most without even a resemblance of an instrument approach, each with a unique pattern entry, a sort of rudimentary ATC without radar coverage, and unforgiving terrain all around you. absolutely incredible! puts my FAA instrument rating to shame.. 😂
As a retired Flying Instructor in the Alps in France , and the Mountains of Scotland your vids are awesome and my heart rate is up just watching the approach and landings.....thank you so much for sharing and big RESPECT for your professionalism. Thank you Brian
Ryan, you’re so incredibly calm, cool and collected…Thanks for continually sharing your flight “walk-throughs”…as well as imagery of PNG…this is one of my favorite UA-cam channels!
Ryan. I loved this flight - I was straining to find the runway. :-) You are such a skilled pilot - we flyers just love to watch you make that airplane do what you want it to do. :-) Thank you, God bless you and your family.
Glad you made it Ryan ... Tough choices to be made all along the way. Your quick decision to deviate previous leg surprised me! Doable yes, with you experience and comfort with the aircraft made it easier no doubt ... I know I could NOT have done those 2 trips the way you did ! Continued blessings on your efforts !
I am going to take off here. There is no way back as soon as I start roiling. That's like test pilot stuff. Or emergency landing territory. Brave man 😎
I can appreciate the way you run your checks (takeoff, landing, etc) even if sometimes redundant. You know that we never get lackadaisical or it can kill. Always, calm and collected, no rush even if you only have a small window because get-there-itis has killed many pilots.
I love your channel! The quality of the flying, the filming and the breathtaking scenery. I always learn something and I enjoy it a lot. Thanks for sharing, take care and happy flying!
It was great to find your vlog. It takes me back in time to when my dad flew with MAF in southern Mexico out of the base in Ixtapa, Chiapas in the early and mid 1960s. He was earlier (1956-7) in West NG when the C&MA had their air missions program at Hollandia (now Jayapura). We were in Mexico with the Hatchers and others. Your videos remind me of my experiences as a small child of flying low in mountainous areas but without the amazing instrumentation available today. In fact, my dad survived (barely) a crash over a rugged mountain pass due to loading, wind and aircraft power limitations. Your constant precise calculations and weather accommodations are never a waste of time.
you're kind pilot ever traveller loves, safety first and knowledge of aircraft and terrain impeccable. God bless you and keep you safe. can't wait for next journey.
Great video Ryan, excellent professional decisions, it's good that people can see what flying in P.N.G is really like. (the weather can change so quick)Its very helpful to know know the valleys, rivers, waterfalls & the odd tree. Thanks for the ride, Stay safe my friend.
I'm not a pilot, but you nailed it. I think of a lot of young missionary pilots out of Greenville, I hope they watch him. This seems like a textbook and commonsense wrapped around each other very tightly.
Amazing video. It was good to see the reality of flying in very difficult conditions whilst seeking to meet the needs of those people. Thank you. Loved the descriptions and decision making throughout.
Ryan You’re my hero Thank you for sharing your adventures on the job I appreciate and admire all your talents and skills I’m glued to my seat on all of your missions My best wishes always from Las Vegas Craig
There was a part 2! Fantastic! Thanks for making these amazing videos. As I've said before, you have the best job in the world, and some serious skills.
Watched the pair of videos. Excellent catalogue of techniques and very smooth and cool headed! Those grass strips would be impossible to find in that weather without some GPS or beacon guidance. Very tricky conditions but you made them look easy. Nice postings. Thanks. 👍😎🇳🇿✨
These 2 videos were awesome.. i know probably wasnt great for you but definitely had me at the edge of my seat. amazing skills.. and i never felt like you were doing anything you couldnt handle and werent properly prepared for..
@@MissionaryBushPilot I think not being able to see it added to the drama in the video. I always loved flying IFR at that moment you pop out of the clouds and you can see the runway right where it’s supposed to be.
Amazing as always Ryan, I am aware you need to be signed off to fly PNG but you do an amazing job for those local villagers who rely on you for a lot, well done mate 🇦🇺 🇦🇺🛫🛬🛫🛬
I'm sure you were pretty relieved to get her on the ground Ryan, that was a very slippery and very rough runway but you handled it like a pro as always👍

yeah, it's pretty overwhelming at first, but after you do it a while, it feels normal
Just like Brain surgery :)
Bless you, but I would never think that this is normal.@@MissionaryBushPilot
Rocket surgery. @@UpTheClock
FAA really over cooked it all. Way to much into a rather not so complicated process.

I hope your organization gives out awards for safe and exceptional flight skills used in getting the mission done!
I love seeing how you verbalise and touch the appropriate controls as you give yourself your pre-take off emergency briefing.
He's a better pilot than what the schools are turning out in the states by far. I know first hand.
Excellent Piloting! You have "nerves of STEEL" Good Job!

The most important thing about this video is right there at the end. Youll see them if you look close. Theyre standing there with huge smiles. ❤
Now that is flying!

Really get to see the amount of rudder/steering needed at 11:06. Impressive work!
yeah, the Kodiak needs a ton of rudder to keep it straight on takeoff

This was intense! But as always, your skill and calm head always prevail. Great flying, bro.

You’re a legend Ryan, absolute legend.
Fiou ! I am anxious for you... you look so calm and in control. I could even not do it on FS2020 !!! Great job !

Hi from the UK. Absolutely video. Thanks for sharing.
Very impressive! Thank you so much for this....loved it!!
Edge of the seat stuff. May God continue to bless your endeavours as you serve the PNG people.
Nerves of STEEL!!! for both videos!
Wow. For approaches like this one, that heads-up toggle switch check-list box is critical.
FOR SURE, to keep your eyes up and out
Wow. Both videos had my on the edge of my seat during landing. Nicely done!
Wowzer! Glad you got in! Blessings . . .
Always nice to see the wrist watch keeping you company there Ryan.
Challenging flying. Always have to be on your game.
Great Job!
Wow. That was quite impressive 👏👏

Fantastic flying mate. Well done. Hope those passengers shout you a cold beer. Thankyou for your videos.
I was sweating and I wasn't even in the airplane. I didn't see you sweat. Amazing skills.
it was nice a cool that morning 😉
I imagine your passengers were VERY happy you made it in, so they can catch their next flight out. Cheers from Winnipeg.
I'm glad YOU could see that runway! I couldn't see it in the video until 10:18.
yeah I should have put arrows on the video, but forgot
@@MissionaryBushPilot I think not being able to see it added to the drama in the video. I always loved flying IFR at that moment you pop out of the clouds and you can see the runway right where it’s supposed to be.

Love these videos, can't get this anywhere else, with anyone else!
Glad you made it!
I guess that if you do anything crazy long enough it will start to seem normal. Great flying.
Exactly
If I ever end up in Papua New Guinnea, I am calling you to fly me out, dang sir you have some mad skills.

G,day Ryan from Sydney Australia.

🌏🇭🇲
They saying the vernacular, "ya done done it."
Good job. Blessings
em nau
I think you need ski's and an anchor for those strips. LOL.
Hmmm, you'd be grounded anywhere else with that weather Godspeed man
Great flight sir.
