    Interesting review! I didn’t find this before I bought the GG TMP100. It wouldn’t have changed my decision either. Like your sample, my TMP 100 hood smelled pretty rank when first opened. A day outside in the sunlight seems to have fixed that though. The one thing that would have tipped the raisin count away from the GG unit was the number of fingerprints and smudges on both sides of the glass. I’m accustomed to cleaning optical surfaces (telescopes and the like) so I had a supply of high quality glass cleaning supplies available. I’ve used the teleprompter a few times now and I’m very satisfied with its operational characteristics. Im using an Arca-Swiss rail on the underside to mount it to the tripod, and a clamp on the topside to attach the camera. I like to shoot segments in different locations so the travel case is quite handy. Enjoyed the review! Three raisins for you! Now I want dark chocolate raisins for breakfast.

      ha - glad you liked the video. I've been really pleased with my choice. The lighter weight is a big plus for me. The amount of gear that I take on interview shoots borders on the absurd, any weight savings is a big plus for me.
      My wife actually bought me a huge bag of dark chocolate Rasinettes for Valentine's day! Time for a new comparison vid.
      Thanks for watching.

    May I ask about the possibility of using a laptop screen instead of a tablet screen? If I were to ignore the tablet holder, not use it, but place a laptop on it's own stand beneath the teleprompter screen, would the slide-out tablet holder obstruct the view between the laptop screen below and the teleprompter glass above? I'm trying to figure out how I can project from a laptop rather than a tablet, but all I can find are teleprompters designed to hold flat monitors, tablets, or phones only...Oh..and your reward system was brilliant! 🌻

      It seems like you could make that work. The 'tray' on this prompter is removable. You might have to physically remove the little bracket that holds it in there, but pretty much anything that can be held in position will work.
      Hope that helps, thanks for watching!

      @@MattSpaugh Oh that's good to know then - I didn't realize that piece was removable - You've helped me make my decision now - Thanks so much! 🌻

    Great video Matt, Thank you.
    Maybe also helpful, A teleprompter is a game changer for me, especially (The Glide Gear TMP100) levels up my video quality, especially talking heads, I use PPT Mirror to mirror-flip slides for my iPad and display them in TTL (Through The Lens)teleprompter as a guide to keep maintaining eye contact with viewers and also my speech remains natural because I don't follow word-for-word.

      I use Prompt Smart which overall I find does a really nice job, especially in the 'auto-listen' mode.
      Bullet points are definitely a good way to go to keep your delivery more natural. Thanks for watching!

      Thanks. You're making the rounds today!
      I ended up keeping the Caddie Buddy despite the name. In my current rig configuration, I can use it without the included bracket, and it attaches perfectly to my 15mm rail system. With my audio recorder in place, the camera ends up centered behind the glass.
      When I work on-site, it's easy to pack the glass, the tray and the cover without needing anything else. Thanks again for watching!

    Hey Matt, at about 11:41 on the video I see the Caddy Buddy on the table and it looks quite level, can it actually be used directly on a desk or a table like the Glide Gear TMP100?

    • @MattSpaugh
      @MattSpaugh  3 роки тому

      You could, but once you raise the camera up to get it centered in the window, it could get a little top heavy if you're just using the included hardware/mounting setup.
      I have a SmallRig base that houses my 15mm rail system. Using that base, it's no problem to use it on a tabletop.
      Sidebar: Having used the Caddie Buddy on a number of shoots and for my personal work, I'll say that I'm convinced I made the right decision by keeping it and not the TMP100. I think that what so impressed me about the TMP100 (weight, build quality) would've actually been liabilities in the long run. I think it would've been too heavy and cumbersome for the type of work I do.
      Hope that helps, thanks for watching!

      @@MattSpaugh thanks for the reply - so if one is using a very small camera or even an iPhone as a camera is it fair to assume that top heavy would not be an issue?

    • @MattSpaugh
      @MattSpaugh  3 роки тому

      @@jonnysolomon2342 it would certainly help mitigate the issue, but that rail system really needs to be attached to something IMHO. I just tried it with my CB teleprompter and yes, it will stand up, but if anything bumps it, it's going to fall over.

    • @jonnysolomon2342

      @@MattSpaugh Got thanks. So it sounds like the TMP100 may be a safer bet for table top or desk use - would you agree? Thanks again for your generous spirit.

    • @MattSpaugh
      @MattSpaugh  3 роки тому

      @@jonnysolomon2342 the TMP100 is more stable for sure. It's heavier and has a large, flat, aluminum base. But that unit is not as versatile as the Caddie Buddy IMHO. If tabletop is that much of a priority, the TMP100 is a better bet.
