This helped me a ton as iv had my Ram for years old and my door emblem plating has partly discolored.
Your videos have been so useful, really appreciate them! Your alfaobd video helped my DRL issue with these aftermarket lights I had that ran my high beams concurrently with the DRL. And for this video I'll be debadging my ram soon once my blacked out badging comes in, so it's nice to know how to remove them safely. It may hurt you to hear this but I personally don't mind the door billboard hehe

I just used a plastic pry tool from HF and the emblems and adhesive came off with no problem. Took about 10 mins per side.

I just did a 2014 for a customer and it was a nightmare. That adhesive backing was like cement. Got it done but had to go back over it with a buffer to clean things up.
The tailgate emblem does have 3 pegs as well as double sided tape
Zylol!!!!! Way better then goof off. Zylol takes off bugs, tar, paint, road grime pretty much anything. Including wax...so you'll have to rewax after use. We use it before every claybar/detail at our shop

@@bigdaddyshouse Zylol is a medication for gout. Xylol (xylene), however, is a powerful solvent/paint thinner. It definitely will remove all that stuff, but just be careful and read the MSDS. It will eat plastic, is extremely flammable, it will pass right through bare skin and into your bloodstream (cancerous/toxins) so wear chemical gloves if you use it. In addition to that, the fumes are toxic if breathed in, so unless used in a well ventilated area, you should consider a respirator. It's very similar to Toluene and in the same family of aromatic hydrocarbons (methyl benzine derivative)..... @jcb101 probably has all of the required PPE since it's a commercial shop and must meet OSHA regs, but for home use, I would stick with the Goof Off unless it isn't working for you.

Big is an understatement, lol. I call it removing the billboard. I must have gotten lucky my truck is 6 years old and I live in canada and winter drive this bitch and my emblems and stickers came off with no problems with just some thin nylon rope and my thumb to rub off the stickers. It seems to be a lot harder for some people but don't let it scare you cuz nothin is scarier than that billboard on the door. Nice video and yes goof off will work just fine but I used wd -40 just to polish it up afterwards no need to buff either 👍.

Hey Hugo, I was talking about low-cut polishing or rubbing compound. Any brand should be fine. I think I used Turtle Wax in my video.

I have a 2017 RAM, How long did it take to do 1 side?
If i remember right about a hour. It may take you less time on your 2017 then it took me. I have a 2014 and the adhesive was really baked on.

big daddy's house I used to take my trucks to those kind of washes because it always came out cleaner than the touchless ones. Then I realized that was the cause of all the swirls in my black paint.
Your videos are great. Definitely helped with the AlfaOBD modifications that I did to my 19 warlock. Wasn’t able to get global down to work but disabling fog light drop out was the best thing I’ve ever done. So much more visibility at night.

I want to say yes it is the same procedure for a 3rd gen, although I don't have experience with a 3rd gen, so I cannot say for a matter of fact that is true.

If it’s the front fender the answer is yes. I just finished mine. 2017 ram 1500.
Never put goo gone on your paint it will destroy the clear coat and leave a blurry white mark on your paint idk about goo off but goo gone will definitely leave a mark so becareful on what you apply to your paint
Hey elow morales, thanks for sharing. I can tell you from first-hand experience, Goof Off worked for me and didn't damage the paint or clear coat.
I made this video several years ago and the paint still looks as good as that day.
You are 100% correct, people should do the research before applying any substance to their paint.

I run an auto detailing biz and use goo gone all the time. Never had a bad experience.
How long did that take per side
Hey Will, sorry for the late reply man.
If I remember correctly it took about an hour hour or an hour and a half each side.
Depending on how new your truck is or if it had been sitting outside it may take way less time.
Some even reported just pulling off the double-sided tape without any residue being left behind.

This makes me cringe remembering doing this myself. These RAM emblems are ungodly huge. I left the HEMI emblems.. 👍

Gotta leave the hemi or people might think it's an eco diesel and we don't want that, lol. We always know that if you remove all the emblems it's probably a v6 or eco. 😉

Hey Jim, that was a long time ago sir.
If I remember correctly it was turtle Wax polishing compound. You can use any low-cut polishing compound though.
Then you just wipe it ,wash it off and wax it.

Absolutely. just might take a little bit longer.
Depending on how old your emblems are may not even need a heat gun or hair dryer. My emblems were almost five years old.

P.S.: Does anyone know if the Ram 1500 badges on the driver's and passenger side are held on by tape or is there a hole in the sheet metal behind the badge?

It is definitely okay to debadge a Ram, because there is no mistaking a Ram. I would not advise people to debadge their fords, chevy's, gmc's, nissan's or toyota's because you'll all get lumped into the same shit pile instead of your own individual shit pile.
