Bro I vividly remember that game. The Broncos punter was talking big shit. “We ain’t scared of him, we gone kick it to him and hit him” See how that worked out 😭
I will never forget that Arizona Cardinals game, I remember being 10 and going to a watch party at my friends house and we were all screaming when Hester scored that. Also created one of the best quotes “they are who we thought they were”
Lol I will never forget this game either. I was 12 at the time. We were down 23-0 and Grossman threw a pick 6 to Darnell freaking Dockett…so i went outside to ride my bike before it got to late and my mom wouldn’t let me anymore. When i came back it was now 23-17. I shit a brick….I only realized then that the pick6 had been called back and thats why Arizona didn’t have 31. Luckily I had the game on record and went back to were i had left off prior to going outside. I then proceeded to watch one if the greatest games I’ve ever seen. I thank god that I had the game on record, I came so close to missing that game all because I gave up and assumed a loss. What a time to be a Bears fan! Our defense was one of the best if not the best back then. Urlacher, Briggs, Tillman, Tommie Harris, Chris Harris, Daniel Manning and Nate Vasher. Those guys were TOUGH. Only the Ravens had a defense as tough, or tougher then Chicago. Man i miss those days!!!
@@BT-fl5qetechnically you didn't see it LIVE, in the moment ;-) nevertheless I think it's awesome you have a cool response to that amazing MNF game! Harbaugh had a memorable game vs. the Jets that I also saw LIVE on MNF too, that squad wasn't Super Bowl bound however
I was 13 at the time. My parents went to bed because they thought the game was over, but I kept watching in the living room. My birthday was coming up and this game felt like a gift just for me. And now Devin Hester is in his rightful place in Canton. Bear down.
I get goosebumps watching this. Absolutely my favorite player when I was a kid. Id never think a special teams player would be my favorite. I still have his jersey. Wish the Bears could have been more creative with him as a WR, but we are da Bears sooo…ya. Dude is a legend.
His acceleration is insane. Even the guys running full speed in front of him look like they're running underwater. These were elite athletes he was playing against.
The fact he was not a first ballot Hall of Famer is disgusting. Guy completely changed the game and put the fear of God into opposing teams. In words of Denzel Washington, you’re first ballot HOF in my book.
That superbowl return was what solidified my personal football fandom. My first year playing football in high school. The first video game I bought (Madden 08 Vince young’s year) with my own money. And Devin Hester opening up the day at a big Super Bowl party my parents took me to. Nothing like the NFL
I'll never forget a game with the Bears against the Vikings. By the end of the game, it was mainly just trading touchdowns, first it was Hester, then Adrian Peterson. They went back and forth like that, with both players lifting their team on their backs and making play after play. Two of the most memorable players in the history of the league. What a game! That house call on the opening kick of the Super Bowl is one of the most memorable Super Bowl plays I can ever remember, and I've been watching them all the way back as far as Super Bowl IV. The flash bulbs are cool, and everybody in the building had to be thinking Hester might be able to take it all the way back. He probably won't, but he could. Then, he goes and does it!!!! Unbelievable!!! They need to induct him into the Hall of Fame ASAP!
His records would be even more insane if teams actually kicked the ball to him which they rarely ever did. Usually it’s a kicking mistake when he got a returnable ball.
I'm a die hard bears fan but if any coach were to beat the bears in the super bowl, I'm glad it was Dungy. That man deserved a super bowl with Tampa Bay. He built that team.
I’m a war veteran getting a little older now but this video brought a tear to my eye a little I remember some of the rough times I had in war and seeing devin Hester was one the most amazing things ever to me I thank him for that as a Alabama fan I can whole heartedly say that on my death bed if I’m dying of dementia and they say I can’t remember anything I’ll ask them to put devin Hester kickoff returns on so I can watch em one more time. Sometimes it’s the smallest of things from a complete stranger that can help you hang on to life a little longer glad to see this man in the Hall
I was thinking about how a man's energy changes. How I was at 18-21-25. I was called Radio at 18 and Cookin' at 21. No drugs were involved. Thanks for the post. Now I'm going to watch Gale Sayers. Devin was something special.
Craziest thing for me is he had the same amount of kickoff and punt returns as Deion Sanders at 19 only playing a decade career…but to add one short FG miss returned for a TD for good measure. With also the opening Super Bowl Kick Return as a Rookie! Lastly I NEED to mention how he did all that while after his first 3 seasons so many teams elected to not kick it to him or out of bounds to avoid his returns. While also having a lot of returns where he was tackled short of scoring and setting his team up in the Redzone. They’ll never be another returner on his level with his cuts and way he can shift gears from fast to straight explosive…shockingly unbelievable player.
Also he had scores a TD in the NFL every possible way. Kick off, Punt, Missed FG returns…then he had scored TDs as a receiver, running back and even thrown a pass for a TD. Straight Beast, it’s not surprising that Deion Sanders was his idol and they became so close. They both identically impacted the game the same way and really mirrored each other’s game! But I don’t remember Deion being as explosive and quick as Hester, he was dusting everyone on the field while being inches away from defenders and slicing between 2 players and not even be touched. Congrats on the 2024 HOF Hester! Definitely well deserved!
Notice how the NFL broadcasts usually don’t use that camera high up vertical angle of the field for returns, and they had it all the time for Hester cause he was good for a TD return every other week
They didn’t change the kickoff rules because of Devon Hester. They change the kickoff rules because of injuries, too many people were getting hurt on kickoff plays.
Hest was the bears biggest and only weapon in 2006 (besides the defense) that can change the complexity of the game like field position. If only he has better receiving skills and route running.
Devin Hester was the "special" in special teams - in one return after another, you wondered, "How did he get out of ~that~?!" No debate or doubt as to his qualifications for Hall of Fame!
Having the opening kick return TD in the Super Bowl is wild.
02:36
Crazy
Crazy cause I remember everybody before the game was like “Y’all think he gone do it ?”
And then he did it
I'm sure there were tons of bets on it. Sadly I wasn't one but I wonder what the odds were. @@youngcasperjett7584
Dude had multiple games with multiple return TDs. That's crazy
HE'S A HALL OF FAMER NOW 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏
You serious?! He got his props!!?
It was poetry to see Hester open up the Super Bowl with a kickoff return TD
"Are your memories that short ?" Sums it up perfectly, and hilarious.
💣😂😂😂Exactly! The most polite way of saying "ARE YOU FCKNG STUPID???" 😂

See how that worked out 😭
Nobody gone talk about how efficient his blockers were, laying people out on every return
Blockers were something else. Coach Dave Toub had them in the best spot and they just knew what to do
yes
One of my favorites. He was slippery enough to break ankles, had wheels to outrun just about anyone, and patience enough to wait for blocks.
And the total field awareness, panoramic perfection.
HOF, vote this man in immediately..Greatest return man in NFL history..Bear Down!!!
He is in😊
Omg guys I just checked and Devin Hester just got voted into the hall of fame yesterday!!! 😮😮
He’s going to Canton!!!😮😮😮
They did
Best returner ever
Yep
Chicago made . Miss those years... Bear down !!
Yeah there’s no debate about it
No way
him and patterson are very close but i’d give him it cause of that speed
At first, I thought the clips were sped up.
I forgot how fast that man was. So many were untouched.
LEGEND.
That record will never come close to being broken.
It's impossible to score in every single scenario as an returner & This mf Made it Box Office 🔥🔥🔥

This dude's acceleration was just a freak of nature and how he was able to change directions and his vision to calculate holes... Just unreal.
His ability to find those gaps was o credible
Who’s watching after the NFL just changed the Kickoff rules? Hester would FEAST with these rules.
10 minutes of return tds is crazy!

NFL has to put him in the HALL.

Surely, this man deserves to be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. GOAT

We need another punt/kickoff returner like devin Hester teams were scared to kick to him bro
The ONLY player to get a perfect 100 in speed on Madden! 🐐"The Windy City Flyer"!!!🐐

#23's in Chicago... Michael Jordan, Ryne Sandberg, Devin Hester

I think his returns for TDs record is one that’ll stand forever.
I HEAR you, but they say. records are made to be broken. Hester's record will be very, very, difficult to break.
Thank you for sharing!!!! I had to watch this twice. The announcers got me so hype, you could tell everyone was a fan of his. Amazing. Amazing💫
He made it into the hall of fame and well deserved!

I wish the nfl had players like him. Now it's all changed. By far the best kick returner the nfl has seen and probably will never see again.
just had to be alive to witness Devin Hester man 🥹
Absolutely insane. Dude does kick returns like a full field inside zone
He's now a member of the Hall of Fame
How is he still waiting to be told “you’re in the hall of fame “🤷♂️.”
There some people getting hall of fame who deserve it less than Hester
Not anymore!
This was great thank you.
The fact that this no fluff video runs over 10 minutes long is insane. If he's not already in the HOF, he definitely should be.

“You can do that in college but not in the NFL”😂😂😂
"I don't get it, I don't get it." Me literally anytime anyone ever kicked to him.
Devin Hester your are ridiculous!! - maybe the best line ever in the NFL
7:13 this return was too smooth 😮💨
