It pains me to say this because I LOVE this group. But I HATE when people sing songs of deep pain and sadness as if they were a joyful celebration, which is exactly what this performance does. Djelem Djelem is a song whose lyrics speak of the slaughter and persecution of gypsies throughout history and it should be sung with the proper sadness and empathy that it calls for. She sings as though she has no clue as to the meaning of the lyrics and that saddens me because I otherwise I think highly of her singing. This chirpy happy style is welcome in so many songs they do, but here it simply doesn't fit and it makes the performers seem callous to human suffering by attempting to make a party out of it.
