For diabetics or others on restricted diets, the Creami expands the possibilities available to us. I have used a churn to make ice cream for several years but must admit the Creami is easier. The quality is not quite up to churned ice cream but it’s darn close and it is much better than most of the (limited) options available at the grocery store.

I eat the same thing in the creami that I was eating before. Instead of eating my yogurt the normal way, I freeze it with stevia that I already use in my nonfat yogurt and I use frozen fruit from my freezer. My husband and I split a pint of tropical fruit frozen yogurt or I will take the chocolate protein powder that we would normally use in a glass of milk and I freeze it with our almond milk to make chocolate ice cream. So it actually costs us the same as it did before we started freezing it and turning it into ice cream with the creami.

My current hot tip for people doing protein ice cream in the creami- add oat fiber to creami recipes. It helps thicken it, tastes just slightly like oats (which works well with a ton of other flavors), helps keep you full longer, and adds fiber to your diet which most people arent getting enough of

Decided to just go out and finally get a creami and some good protein powder so I'm excited to try out all the new recipes I've missed. Hopefully I can go through all your videos again for the little "tips" to make sure I use it correctly. Thanks again for all the content. The one thing I would add to this is that the deluxe is NOT compatible with the standard 16oz pints of the base Creami.
I bought the deluxe because the difference at the time was only about $30 and why not get the version with more features? But I didn't realize that the problem with doing this is that you're locked into a 24oz "deluxe pint" container instead of the standard 16oz "actual pint" pint container. This has a number of issues:
    - It takes up extra freezer space (something that is already quite limited for me).
    - All the recipes you find online are for 16oz pints, and have to be adjusted by increasing the amounts by 1.5 times. This also means the macros and calories go up by 50% too. Obviously you can just eat less, but if I had the level of self control that would allow me to stop after consuming just half the container I wouldn't be overweight and looking to cut calories in the first place.
    - You can just fill it with a normal pint amount (just like you can under-fill the standard creami containers if you want) but then you have a container that's 2/3 full, which feels inefficient and also unfulfilling (it's the same psychological trick where same amount of food on a bigger plate feels like less food)
    - The 24oz size is just annoying in addition to recipe issues - it's more than one person should really be eating in a sitting, but also not enough for two people if you both want a pint (plus got to both want same flavor, where having two pints ready to go lets two people pick their poison)
I've actually been seriously considering selling it and replacing with the standard Creami just because of the size difference, which would be a huge upgrade for me in terms of use and value.

I would recommend getting off-brand pints. They are MUCH cheaper and I can't tell a difference after >30 uses. Only thing is that they are slightly more variable regarding weight, so you will have to tara each one when weighing ingredients.
Also experimenting with a bunch of thickeners: If your unfrozen liquid is similar to cream in cosistency, you are more likely to get a nice ice cream consistency on the back end of the process.
Take advantage of other peoples work and research. These days 90% of the pints I make are just my base (low-fat milk, guar gum, xanthan gum, whipping cream stiffener (modified starch), psyllium husks) and two scoops of flavor powder from my favorite brand here in Germany. Whipping up 7 pints for the week takes about 15 minutes this way.
Regarding cleaning the top: I like to use a syringe (same one I use for infusing my meat) to clean the inside. Pure water pressure avoids micro-scratches which would promote residue sticking the next time.

    • @hjewkes

I´ve read online that the knife scraps plastic from the inside of the containers and those tiny scraps ends up in the icecream. Did you experienced that too?

One thing I wish the device did, was to be able to repair a pint of ice cream (in one of those cardboard containers) that got thawed and refrozen. I suppose the only thing I could try is to fully melt one and pour it into the Creamii container? Has anyone salvaged ice cream like this before?

My experience was very different from yours. Clearly if you want to make anything, you have to have ingredients for it. My kitchen already has milk, sweetener, vanilla, and chocolate. That's all I really need for high quality (lite) ice cream although other additions are wonderful when they become feasible for my budget. Also, cleaning is easy for me. We are a family of two and do not require a full pint every day. I bought the deluxe for the extra programs (which I have not yet used), so my recipes are less than capacity, maybe 2/3. Because the machine is not close to overload, ingredients stay where they belong and don't get into other parts of the machine. Easy peasy. I find it to be a wonderful investment. I do agree, though, extra pint containers are a real boon.

I am on my second Creami already. The first one broke due to excess of use, I guess? I was having up to three pints every day, depending on my mood. I wish there was a solution for the noise, though, so we can make icecream after midnight (I live in a small apartment).

Three pints a night is a new record that I have heard!! Absolute beast. Mine is still running perfectly, so I am surprised to hear yours broke. Was it covered under warranty? And how many pints would you say you spun before it broke?

    • @TheSimArchitect
      @TheSimArchitect 8 місяців тому

Well, I had more than that, but not frequently, 3 was my "reasonable" limit. But I didn't use protein powder, just yoghurt, maybe some fruit, sucralose. I need to start having them with eggs, need some of the components from the yolk.@@Exercise4CheatMeals

It was under warranty, Amazon refunded me then I bought another of the same. I have no idea how many I whipped, to be honest. I had 12 or 13 pints, I think, now I have about 20 something, I usually make as many as my drawer takes, 11 per time, or less. Sometimes it's all gone after three days. 😬@@Exercise4CheatMeals
They clean well in the dishwasher. Sometimes I use another freezer to make a few extras, if it's hot and I know I'll be having tons of frozen yoghurt.

Creami pints taste better. Aren't as gummy. Have way better protein for less calories. Infinite flavor options. And taste fresher.

I would recommend investing in a semi professional ice cream maker machine if you consume that much ice cream. I stopped this year consuming it but for 8 years I made 4lt of ice cream everyday. I still have my ice cream maker machine I bought with 2,5lt of capacity. If you really want something practical I would recommend that but of course ninja creami it's what's now trending. I absolutely love your videos and keep up the good work, you are always entertaining, informative and accurate in everything you do 👍

I have a nice wynter ice cream maker, but for protein ice cream the creami works a lot better since the base gets too solid in the freezer

I believe you. I used to make protein ice cream as well but my ice cream maker machine would churn it and freeze it during the process, I could have ice cream ready or freeze the batch for later. Of course it will depend on quantities you need to make. I made a LOT so I needed a big capacity for my machine. It's the most delicious and refreshing treat for sure 😊

Whoa, Nicks, a Scandinavian company actually sells their ice cream in the US. Love those, more than most regular ice cream, especially Sea Salt Caramel and Nougat Swirl.
Funny how they sell frozen stuff overseas and I can't buy freaking Monterey Jack anywhere outside of American Week in Lidl that happens like once in 6 months, and last time Jack wasn't even there...

Well sure I can get absolutely insane amounts of cheese too, since there's stuff from around the Europe in every market, and every European country has its own cheese culture but I really damn like Jack , even if its not extraordinary like let's say Gruyere:)
Looking at Nicks US website, and their bars are exactly the same but ice cream flavours are completely different, maybe they are making them in the US after all.
And funny enough, they rounded up calories of ther peanut butter protein bar, it's 190kcal while in reality it's 183kcal ;)

Kudos friend that was very enlightening.
just saying, you don't have to spend a small fortune for those vanilla extracts, you could and should make your own. It's very feasible with fresh vanilla beans, vodka, raki or tsipouro. I make 3 litres of vanilla extract each year that way.
There's a plethora of youtube videos for additional information, good luck!
