    I have a pretty normal foot. These were the best fitting, most comfortable skates I have ever tried on. I’ve tried on quite a few over the years. Definitely thinking of getting some.

      They’re beautifully designed skates if they fit. Top end Skates and sticks are worth your money.

    i really want those tongues. the custom asv-pros that i got actually fit great and i love them. first skates i have that have locked my weird right heel.
    but i want that tongue. i hope ccm makes it available at some point. i don’t understand why they would wall off their own tech within the rest of their equipment.

      Glad to hear the Supertacks are working for you! Unfortunately, I highly doubt you'll ever see the retail FT6 Pro Jetspeed tongues unless CCM changes its business model. Right now, for example, you can only get three thicknesses of tongues as you probably know. They're generic for all three skate models. The dudes that I work with who do tons of fittings don't like messing with the aftermarket CCM tongues. They said that if you need it, you're in the wrong skate, as a general rule. That said, you never know, maybe someone will have a set on Sidelineswap at some point.

    I found out I was wearing skates WAY too big (which is shocking because I was in 7's before). I ended up in 6 wides in ASV pro, I didn't think ft6 were quite wide enough but I dunno if they would get better with baking. It's funny, the ASV heel lock is like perfect for me but I need that super wide forefoot.

    • @mongillohockey
      @mongillohockey  Рік тому

      Yeah I noticed the same thing when trying them on. The Jetspeed is a better profile for my foot shape but the Supertacks have better volume for me. I kinda think the next supertacks will be a more refined feel. It’ll probably still have more volume than the FT6 pro, but maybe less than the AS-V pro.

    As I mentioned in another one of your videos, I was having a lot of pain on my ankles with the FT4 Pro skates. I was able to return them under the 90-day satisfaction guarantee and then pick up the FT6 Pros. I have been skating on the FT6 Pros for at least 20-30 hours total now, and they are really nice. They actually feel a bit stiffer than the FT4 Pros did. No more ankle pain at all, although I feel as though they're not quite broken in fully yet.

    • @mongillohockey
      @mongillohockey  Рік тому +1

      Thanks for chiming in! I actually forgot to mention that the FT6 pros are now on par with the supertacks regarding stiffness. And it took me 1.5 months of skating 2-3x per week and four skate bakes to break in my FT4 Pros. It might be longer for the FT6 pros but I’d bet it’s worth it.

    • @PaulMarangoni
      @PaulMarangoni Рік тому +1

      @@mongillohockey Apparently, the FT6 Pros released in North America are not as stiff as the ones released in Europe. Not sure why that would be, but that's what I read somewhere. The North American ones look a bit different too (no visible carbon fiber on the upper like they have on the ASV Pro).

    • @mongillohockey
      @mongillohockey  Рік тому

      @@PaulMarangoni They do that sometimes and I’m not sure why. I think the supertacks line of stick ms also comes with rounded corners in European markets, too. I’ve only heard of CCM doing this. Not sure about Bauer or any other companies.

    Thanks for talking about the oversized ankle "donuts" Im trying to transition out of old leather, Black Panthers into modern skates, but these CCM ankles are on the opposite side of the experience I'm used to

    • @mongillohockey
      @mongillohockey  7 місяців тому

      Hi there! Sorry about the long delayed response, I'm just seeing this comment now! Funny enough, Bauer Black Panthers were my first pair of skates. LOL Regarding the donut foam, I do still think this foam is great IF your ankle bones fit in the center of the donut. For the best foam, I kinda think the ASV Pro SuperTacks are the most forgiving, but they are a wide high volume fitting boot in comparison to every other skate brand and model. Just something to think about.

  • @jlo2o199

    Since these companies leave room for improvement by withholding features for the next line.. I Have some wishes for the FT7 line.. Hoping they put memory foam on top of the foot (tongue) feels like a real missed feature. the little piece of memory foam on the very top of the tongue makes no sense.

      @julianciuffreda9569 Рік тому +2

      I've been a Bauer guy my whole life but the Hyper2lites just weren't it for me. Even the machs didn't feel as good as the ft6 pros when I tried them on. Honestly the most comfortable skate I've ever used to date and I am super picky with equipment. CCM is slowly getting ahead of Bauer imo👍

    • @mongillohockey
      @mongillohockey  Рік тому +2

      They do both look good, but don’t let that be the deciding factor. I’d say that the Vapor fits tighter in the heal and maybe a little narrower in the forefoot. Basically CCM has a little more volume. So the question is do you want more or less volume? If you want more, consider anything from ccm. If you want less consider Bauer. I will note CCM usually lasts longer if that matters. For instance, the FT4 pros are outlasting the original Hyperlites by a wide margin.

    • @mongillohockey
      @mongillohockey  Рік тому +1

      @@julianciuffreda9569 I was not impressed with the fit of the Mach. Not sure what Bauer was going for on fit. Too bad too, it’s a nice design.

      I wear CCM player skates and bauer goalie skates. Personally, to me, ccm skates are more anatomical if that makes sense, like they fit the shape of MY foot best. You really should go by fit and feel.

    • @mongillohockey
      @mongillohockey  Рік тому +1

      @@bfish9700 I agree. I think it’s simply because CCM skates heat mold around your entire foot almost as good as custom True skates.

    I wear an 8 Wide in the FT4 Pro and 100k, and also noticed more volume and length with the AS-V Pro when test fitting (had to go down to 7.5 W). Would you say that the sizing of the FT6 Pro is the same as the FT4 Pro and 100k's (8W FT4 Pro = 8W FT6 Pro)?
    Thanks for the video!

    • @mongillohockey
      @mongillohockey  Рік тому +1

      Thanks for the comments and questions. So, this is a tough one. The sizing between the FT4 pro and ft6 pro are definitely similar. It’s just that the game ready fit system makes the forefoot feel a little tighter. I also noticed that the ankle foam is less comfortable to my foot on the ft6 pro, but that’s completely subjective.

    • @nillirk
      @nillirk Рік тому +1

      @@mongillohockey Thanks for the response. I was mostly concerned with the boot length. My toes brush the toe cap on the last gen skates, but I wasn't able to touch on the AS-V Pro's, so they felt too long. I'll have to go back to the LHS to see if they got more sizes in, since they didn't have any my last visit. Thanks!

    • @mongillohockey
      @mongillohockey  Рік тому +1

      @@nillirk Oh if you’re asking about length, the FT4 pro and FT6 pro feels like the same length to me. I too considered a shorter size in the ASV pro. For instance, I’m an 8 Wide in Jetspeeds, but might consider a 7.5 Wide in Supertacks. In reality, I probably need a custom 7.75 length so I’d have to use size 8 length to avoid custom skates. All of that translates to my thought that the supertacks might be about a 1/4 size longer than the Jetspeeds.

    • @nillirk
      @nillirk Рік тому +1

      @@mongillohockeyI just walked out of the hockey shop and tried on the FT6 Pros in 7.5 and 8 W.
      I immediately noticed what the game ready fit was all about, very comfortable out of the box in both sizes. However because of it, the size 8's felt slightly sloppier around my foot whereas the 7.5's just felt comfortably snug. I normally would have gone with the 8's since that's what I use in the ribcors and older jetspeeds, but I have a feeling that after baking and break-in, they're just gotta feel sloppier. The only thing about the 7.5's is that the wrapping at the top of the boot flares out slightly, where the saleguy said it didn't look natural. In the end I don't think it matters what they look like, as long as they feel right.

    How much of the Ribcor 100K is in the FT6? Tendon guard, tongue (parts of it) and “comfort edge” seem like 100K elements. My 100Ks (8.5 Wide) are awesome and I’m not happy that they are out of production.

    • @mongillohockey
      @mongillohockey  Рік тому +1

      Hey man, it’s been awhile since I put a pair of 100K pros on, but from what I remember, there are definitely similarities. That said, I’m more of a fan of the foam in the ft6 pros due to the donut foam. I think the ft6 pros wrapped the foot better because of the game ready fit feature. I definitely do see inspiration from the 100ks in the ft6 pros, however. One thing I will note is that I think there’s still slightly more volume in the Jetspeed than the Ribcors so keep that in mind.

    That is your experience with the tongue fixing system ?
    I've heard some complaints concerning the tong gettting loose on the bottom side where it is fixed to the boot.

    • @mongillohockey
      @mongillohockey  6 місяців тому +1

      It’s interesting that you mention that. That happens to the tongue on my right skate of my current FT4 pros. It’s not like the tongue is loose and flopping around, but the snap holding it to the toe cap has never worked since they were new.

    Is the Ft6 Pro actually tighter or wider than its predecessor? I see some people say that they need to size down and go down a full size on forums. For example, I see Chrissy1011, getting size 4 compared to her size 5 Hyperlite 2nd gen. Does this apply to people who came from other brands? Now that Brands keep changing their fit systems for people like me who dont have access to hockey stores are really annoying.. For your reference, iI wore 7EE in Bauer 2X Pro and 7D in 80K in the past. Both feel perfect. I also have the FT4 Pro in size 7.5 regular but I am not sure what to get for this one. Hope you can help me out on this one.

      Dude, I’m totally with you on this. Until the Kraken came to town, there wasn’t much hockey knowledge here. I would drive to Vancouver just to get answers to the types of questions you’re asking. So, for people like you and how it used to be for me, you may need to order more than one pair of skates to test sizing and then return a set for a full refund. Pure hockey and Ice Warehouse will do this for you. Here’s what I’ll say about my experience with having the FT4 pro and trying on a pair of FT6 pros. The FT6 pro feels a little more snug around the top of the foot over the instep. I believe this to be because of the game ready fit and the different tongue. That said, I wouldn’t change my size when I upgrade. I’m an 8 wide now and I’d stick to that. When I was still wearing an 8 Fit 3 Bauer Hyperlite, it “Felt” longer than my 8 wide FT4 pro. I have two friends that can also corroborate this. Additionally, these same two friends went from a Hyperlite to a Hyperlite 2 skate and both agree the Hyperlite 2 feels slightly shorter. One of those friends likes it while the other one doesn’t. Unfortunately I think that’s the best info you’ll get out of people without ordering a couple pairs of skates to try. I think people who work in hockey shops don’t always have the best info whether or not they’re “good” hockey players.

    On Bauer Supremes right now with the Marsblade i2 ice hockey holder. Confirmed with a pro player out of Sweden who works at Marsblade part time that the FT6pros works perfectly with the Marsblade i2 holder. On my Supremes, the plastic is too soft for the rivets with the Marsblade. I got them re pressed but my skate tech told me it would only be a matter of time where the boot plastic will crack where the rivets go in. Kind of a bummer as I finally achieved collapsed ankles on cross unders and other skills.
