Except for the lack of labor-saving appliances, it must have been so cool to live back then. Thank you, Mark!

Not so sure. Life expectancy much lower. No antibiotics. Medical treatments very primitive. Air pollution from coal fires horrific.

Aquitania is my favorite four-stacker, she just looks so sturdy and functional, plus an epic service history!

I really would've loved to have been able to see these beauties firsthand. Aquitania, Olympic, Titanic (of course), Normandie, MV Britannic and Georgic, Mauretania and Lusitania, Empress of Ireland, Majestic, Adriatic, Baltic, Teutonic, especially the Oceanic, Imperator, Rex and Conte de Savoia, Bremen and Europa, I can go on and on, but I have always loved ships and the ocean and I have always wondered what it would've been like to see these beautiful works of art in person and stroll their decks.

An interesting detail I saw was the tarp that was rolled up in her b deck promenade. You can see it on her port side when the airplane is flying over. This was used to keep spray from the sea off the deck. As it’s been noted before, the reason titanic had her forward end of the a deck promenade enclosed was because of this reason. It’s interesting that Cunard never made the alteration to Aquitania for all of her life. They used tarps. Very interesting

If it wasnt for that boxy aft deck structure, I'd consider her arguably better looking than the Olympic-class liners.

It’s amazing how many vents there are on the top of that ship

I know modern cruise ships are bigger but it still amazes me to see these old steam ships built on such a massive scale.

Now that is some DAMN good footage, especially the first bit. :D
Meanwhile, would've been nice if she looked the way she did in the thumbnail or in some of the early ads. If she did, she would've been a whole lot prettier. To this day I still don't know what Cunard was thinking. XD

Her interiors were rightly acclaimed for their beauty, but the exterior received a lot of criticism. The lack of a raised forecastle made the superstructure look too big for the hull from certain angles. She was described as "boxy". The decks were also cluttered with vents, as was Cunard's habit back then.

They called her The Ship Beautiful, they were right she was a real Queen of the sea and a lucky ship too.

Looks more like a White Star Line ship If not for those Cunard style vents on the decks which I never liked but Nevertheless she is still Beautiful. Olympic class is still my favorite tho lol

Her lines were not yacht like and looked as if he exterior was designed by committee.
