Yep, despite the outrageous (and unarguably funny) sexism in his shows, there were never any scandals or rumours of creepy behaviour in his off-stage life. Unfortunately, those were all attached to children's entertainers of the seventies, I count myself lucky for making it through the seventies without being fingered by a celeb 😲
No apologies needed your new to this, the nonsense some of my fellow compatriots have said about Benny is utter BS & they're familiar with him, he was a well loved comedian you'll not be able to dig up any dirt on Benny RIP
Yeah he was definitely a good guy nothing like Weinstein, none of the Angels have a bad word to say about Benny, those beautiful smiles as they dance are clearly natural as well, everyone's having a good time, i just smell churlish jealousy from critics making nasty lies up out of vindictive spite, d*ckheads and brutish feminists with faces like a bag of spanners like Nina Myskow.
Benny Hill was at Switzerland at a comedy award ,he met Charlie Chaplin's son, Eugene who then invited him back to his father's home .He took Benny to his father's study - and showed the collection of 'The Benny Hill show' tapes that he'd collected - saying that his Dad was an admirer of his work, Benny said later that it was the proudest moment of his life and was moved to tears.
That theme tune at the end (Yakkety Sax) and the accompanying chase was a mainstay of my Saturday evening TV in the 70's. Unlike so many other 70's TV personalities, Benny was never accused of any wrongdoing and was in fact always praised as a good man and a gentleman. RIP Benny and thanks for all the laughs.
Yeah that what I heard , bit of a shame the way he died alone in his small flat and not found for a while, they say his flat was so basic not flashy at all with one small TV, had the same flat from before he became famous till he died
There was nothing scandalous about Benny Hill on or off stage, his show was pure old English music hall, innuendo and seaside postcard humour. He will be remembered as pure genius long after those who so callously destroyed his career and him are forgotten.
the high production costs was why the show ended after a no expanse spared formed on the production line due the overseas sales, the tv company's waited till till 1992 when they had no more shows left to sale overseas to bring it back three years later for a planned budget of £510,000 per show, the show still had high ratings overseas but the uk ratings that halved at 9 million viewers were only just about good for thames at the time (which got a uk repeat in three years in 1992 at 12 million due to there no benny hill show repeats in england during those three years) and the show was costing £450,000 per show, four times the average budget, where as the budget the year before the overseas break through in 1979 was only £47,000 per show in 1978, the show wouldn't of been able to continue past 1982 without the overseas sales when the uk ratings dropped to 15 million as the show was already costing more than £227,000 per show without the overseas sales, post 1982 the show was only being made due to his global success that compare to england hadn't yet fell out of favour with his humor as the uk already had him on their tvs for 32 years but the way they done it without telling him why and stopping the repeats of his shows for three years was the problem

Benny's girls were a group called Hill's Angels. They all adored him apparently and all spoke highly of him. The man was a comedic genius. As you said, no words needed, he can kill it just with the visuals. He did have a lot of sketches with word-play too though
Yeah, some of the girls used to invite Benny to their homes for events like Christmas dinners and parties. Every single one of the ladies spoke highly of him and adored Benny.
Benny Hill actually was very shy in real life and most women who worked with him as part of The Hills Angels and such said that he was a gentleman towards them. In fact he was Godfather to one of the Hills Angels, Sue Upton's children. On Wikipedia it says on Benny's relationship with Sue: "During her long association with Hill, their relationship developed from that of employee-to-employer to one of mutual friendship. They were deeply fond of each other, to the extent that Hill's close-knit performing "'family' thought Sue could have become Mrs Hill under different circumstances."[9] Hill regularly visited Upton's home every year, becoming friendly with her husband and children as well."
Despite his fame, Benny Hill remained a humble soul throughout his life. The main issue with Harvey Weinstein is not so much his interest in women but the way he abused his power. No comparison whatsoever can be made between BH and HV they are, in fact, polar opposites.
. He was a true gentlemen on and of screen with the girls . What you are watching is comedy , not the BS they call comedy today . Interestingly all the women he worked with loved him and he was always professional with them. Also Charlie Chaplin rated Benny’s comedy, Benny was extremely proud that when meet Chaplin, Chaplin had all his shows on VHS. 🇬🇧❤️
The tune at the end is synonymous with Benny Hill and probably one of the most famous theme tunes ever in Britain. If you ever have a video of someone being chased play that music over it, it just works!
Benny Hill was a master of Visual comedy, ranked up there with Laurel & Hardy, Charlie Chaplin to name but 2. Many thanks for reacting to this. I started re-watching various sketches of his on here a while ago and I thought this one of his funnier ones. I never heard of any rumors concerning his love for the ladies off-screen and by all accounts he was the perfect gentleman, never even having been accused of anything untoward but I could be wrong. I think the fact he was a little eccentric & lived a somewhat reclusive lifestyle in a flat way below his means may have attracted a bit of suspicion but beyond that he was a genius of a comedian and will be very sorely missed by many.

They only got rid of Benny Hill because the ITV network in the late 1980s was trying to get rid of its old-fashioned, "downmarket" image, and BH was seen as one of the prime examples of that despite being one of their most successful exports, and even at home the show was still pulling in many millions of viewers. Thames treated Hill shabbily after 20 years working there and he never really recovered.
I remember watching it with my dad. I just found it funny at that age. But watching it today. Dam I can see why he was an avid fan 😂😂. All the woman were beautiful. Just good old fashioned fun and laughter. Brilliant.
Love that you are reacting to Benny Hill. It is truly bizzarre that he has the potential to offend, given that there is not a mean bone in the man nor his humour. Goes to show that the new breed of puritanism, in its quest to slay monsters, has become a monster onto itself. Can I come with a recommendation? Benny was (is) my hero, I even have his signature tune as my ringtone. His shows were banned here in the UK at some point but continued to be aired in Australia where he was always popular. I love the facial expressions he pulls, letting you imagine what’s going through his mind. Like so many great shows it would never get anywhere near the TV screen nowadays but it was and still is hilarious IMO. Like his impersonation of a Chinese ambassador criticising western democracies and pronouncing his L’s as R’s: “When did you rast have an erection?”

He was a perfect gentleman outside of work and the ladies he work with loved him, there was never a question against him or his behaviour , so you got that 100 percent wrong. He was in great demand when he retired he was deeply missed by the British viewers 🇬🇧
He turned into a bit of a dirty old man, on screen, in his later years, but no one ever had a bad word to say about him, and he certainly never had any inappropriate allegations against him.
I don't know where he got that information from. There was never anything about Benny Hill "liking the ladies a bit too much outside of work," not even sure I know what that means. As for drawing any sort of comparison with Harvey Weinstien that is definitely bs. You might want to give us your source of that information.
Benny Hill Show is one of the best shows ever. We watched it when we were kids. That was 80's and 90's, and I think people were a lot happier back then.
I loved some of his stuff. It was funny and it was clean fun. You don't see much of this kind of humor at all anymore . It's a lost art and a shame too. The world is coming to a close😒. But there will be brighter moments ahead. Have a nice day 😊. Peace 🙏
Hill never owned his own home in London and instead preferred to rent a flat rather than buy one.[31] He rented a double-room apartment on London's Queen's Gate for 26 years until around 1986 when he moved to Fairwater House in Teddington. While looking for somewhere to live, he stayed at 22 Westrow Gardens in Southampton.[32] Despite being a millionaire, he continued with the frugal habits that he picked up from his parents, such as buying cheap food at supermarkets, walking for miles rather than paying for a taxi unless someone picked up the tab for a limousine, and constantly patching and mending the same clothes.[31] Hill never married and he had no children. He had proposed to two women, but neither accepted. Shortly after his death in 1992, actress Annette Andre said that she turned down his proposal of marriage in the early 1960s.[33] Rumours circulated that he was gay, but he always denied them.[34]
Can't say I ever heard any rumours about him being gay, but he was reputed to be a very nice and kind man who's whole purpose in life was to bring joy to others. It's was despicable how he was treated and with such contempt by people who could never hope to be as popular as he.
I'm old enough to remember. Today, 73 of age, I'm too politically correct to laugh (fooling myself). Then you come along and infected me with your laughter, allowing myself. (Allowing myself?) Thanks
I'm glad to say that I grew up with Benny Hill when he was the top funny man on TV. His humour was just brilliant, and still is. Anyone who is offended by his comedy needs to take a chill pill. There are too many people, with two faced rules about what you can and can't say or do anymore. This is why people like Benny Hill was taken off of British TV in the first place. What a shame! Shame on all the boring people who ruin it for all the others that enjoyed/enjoy all the greats from the 60's and 70's.
All the women that worked with Benny to a woman loved him, he was rich but humble and a true gent. I think his comedy says more about men of his time than himself.
Whilst working has a very young musician on a contract on the Isle Of Wight, I was invited to a small dinner party with Benny Hill. I kid you not, he brought several beautiful young ladies to dine with him. Keeping up appearances I guess. A very down to Earth polite gentleman. I hasten to had, not one of those beautiful ladies paid me any attention.😆
I have seen my grandfather cry laughing at him back in the 1970's another visual comedy genius was Ronnie Barker as Clarence, that scene where that kid put the black boot polich on the drinking flask and binoculars to this day has me doubled over.
Benny was certainly one of a kind and comedy genius. RIP Benny. Have you seen Only Fools and Horses the chandelier cleaning scene? Loved it first time round.
Growing up with both the Three Stooges & Benny Hill was simply magical (In the 80’s both local station and even The Local PBS would air Benny Hill uncut (In the mid 90’s it would also air on Comedy Central) Simply fantastic comedy genius that doesn’t get enough respect! There’s really been no other visionary like Hill he was the last of a dying breed! he was very generous with money and died poor 😢😢😢 (His legacy is amazing hopefully younger generations do a deep dive on him) He is so important to both comedy and tv in general
Always read the credits -1) the serious ones can link you to other work the folk involved with have done . 2) in comedy ones the credits can have odd things in them
They certainly don't make comedy like they used to! You guys in the US had some great comedians too. Like Leslie Neilson, John Candy & Jim Carey to name but a few.
Benny hills always respectable towards women and they never flirted about. it was the feminist movement that put the end of his show and Mary Whitehouse in particular.

WOW your beard has grown fast since yesterdays video. lol the music that they used at the end of the show for the chase scene is called Yakety Sax. which Dolly Parton plays on the saxophone at her concerts.
Most all people remember of Benny Hill today is Yakkety Sax and the girl-chasing. But Benny's humor was Swiss-clockwork timing--Watch the way he completely dominates one sketch despite being offscreen the whole time: ua-cam.com/video/n384BuAAh2s/v-deo.html

I think u should have a look at 'the bells of saintrinian' film from 60s lots of pretty girls, love benny hill french still love him thanks for bringing back happy memories
There have been things said about Benny Hill. The fact he auditioned girls at his flat and some who he did and didn't employ said they were asked to provide certain favours(sexual) for him . Some did some didn't. Also Bob Monkhouse mentioned certain things about Benny Hill. Benny Hill was asked why he never got married, he said why would you buy a book when there is a very good library nearby. Nevertheless he is still a comic genius.
This is from a special he made for Australian television. Also no camera trick in the changing room scene. It's just a mirror. Hill was a loner outside the show and all the women who worked with him said he was always respectful. His show was canceled because Thames Television was having problems with the London ITV channel. Nothing like what happened to Winstein. Hill's audience started to decline. He once had 25 million viewers per-episode of his 3 yearly specials. but by 1989 it was down to 8 million. Also it was a very expensive program to produce.
Benny was hilarious! If you like silly humour, check out 'Allo 'Allo, set in wartime France. Made by the BBC, I think you'll enjoy it 👍🏻 greetings from Jubilee U.K! 🇬🇧🤝🇺🇸
According to everything I've ever read about Benny Hill he was a perfect gentleman. He respected women and if you look at the storylines of his shows - all the men were either old, bald, fat or somehow stupid or inadequate. The women were all young, beautiful and fun. It was always the men who came off worse and were made to look silly in pursuit of these ladies. Anyone who calls him a misogynist needs to get a grip. I believe he was also one of the first comedians to understand the importance of music to help capture the moment!
Benny had a horrible phobia of spending money. All of his proposals to women were rejected because of it. He never had more than 1 pair of shoes; shirt; pants. It was so sad when he passed away, in a very old appartement he had had for decades, with unspent cash hidden all other the place, along with dozens of uncashed checks. Truly a sad ending for such a successful man.
So I was wrong in my estimation of Mr. Benny Hill. I must've gotten him confused with another comic from days past. My apologies.

@@justinneill5003 the high production costs was why the show ended after a no expanse spared formed on the production line due the overseas sales, the tv company's waited till till 1992 when they had no more shows left to sale overseas to bring it back three years later for a planned budget of £510,000 per show, the show still had high ratings overseas but the uk ratings that halved at 9 million viewers were only just about good for thames at the time (which got a uk repeat in three years in 1992 at 12 million due to there no benny hill show repeats in england during those three years) and the show was costing £450,000 per show, four times the average budget, where as the budget the year before the overseas break through in 1979 was only £47,000 per show in 1978, the show wouldn't of been able to continue past 1982 without the overseas sales when the uk ratings dropped to 15 million as the show was already costing more than £227,000 per show without the overseas sales, post 1982 the show was only being made due to his global success that compare to england hadn't yet fell out of favour with his humor as the uk already had him on their tvs for 32 years but the way they done it without telling him why and stopping the repeats of his shows for three years was the problem
He was a perfect gentleman outside of work and the ladies he work with loved him, there was never a question against him or his behaviour , so you got that 100 percent wrong. He was in great demand when he retired he was deeply missed by the British viewers 🇬🇧
I agree, I never heard one bad word said against him about how he treated women. Not good to compare him with Harvey Weinstein.
He turned into a bit of a dirty old man, on screen, in his later years, but no one ever had a bad word to say about him, and he certainly never had any inappropriate allegations against him.
@@lordprotector3367
“Dirty old man”…???
What exactly do you mean by that?
I don't know where he got that information from. There was never anything about Benny Hill "liking the ladies a bit too much outside of work," not even sure I know what that means. As for drawing any sort of comparison with Harvey Weinstien that is definitely bs. You might want to give us your source of that information.
@@BlueShadow777 He liked scantily clad young women, and was a bit pervy. Look up the term.
When they all stopped to have a group pic 🤣🤣
I always try and look for Jane Leeves. She played Daphne from Frasier. She was a Benny Hill girl.
Ah, I did not know that, have you spotted her in any sketches?
Love Benny Hill , no one could make a similar show these days
Benny Hill Show is one of the best shows ever. We watched it when we were kids. That was 80's and 90's, and I think people were a lot happier back then.
Over 50 years later and he’s still amazing and we still revel in his comedy what a great legacy to leave behind.
What always amazed me he wrote every script and song.
Please don’t associate Benny with Weinstein.
I loved some of his stuff. It was funny and it was clean fun. You don't see much of this kind of humor at all anymore . It's a lost art and a shame too.
The world is coming to a close😒. But there will be brighter moments ahead.
Have a nice day 😊. Peace 🙏
The Benny Hill show was hilarious, classic comedy, his show always ended with a chase. 😁
Hill never owned his own home in London and instead preferred to rent a flat rather than buy one.[31] He rented a double-room apartment on London's Queen's Gate for 26 years until around 1986 when he moved to Fairwater House in Teddington. While looking for somewhere to live, he stayed at 22 Westrow Gardens in Southampton.[32]
Despite being a millionaire, he continued with the frugal habits that he picked up from his parents, such as buying cheap food at supermarkets, walking for miles rather than paying for a taxi unless someone picked up the tab for a limousine, and constantly patching and mending the same clothes.[31]
Hill never married and he had no children.
Whilst working has a very young musician on a contract on
the Isle Of Wight, I was invited to a small dinner party with Benny Hill. I kid you not, he brought several beautiful young ladies to dine with him. Keeping up appearances I guess. A very down to Earth polite gentleman. I hasten to had, not one of those beautiful ladies paid me any attention.😆
When I saw the Benny hill show for the first time in America at 12 years old I was amazed. You are comedy god in the heavens now
I have seen my grandfather cry laughing at him back in the 1970's another visual comedy genius was Ronnie Barker as Clarence, that scene where that kid put the black boot polich on the drinking flask and binoculars to this day has me doubled over.
Great reaction 😂. At least it's been written, performed and loved so we can still enjoy it today.
Benny was certainly one of a kind and comedy genius. RIP Benny.
Have you seen Only Fools and Horses the chandelier cleaning scene? Loved it first time round.
Him: I don't know why was it so famous
5 secs later: wheezing for breath
Growing up with both the Three Stooges & Benny Hill was simply magical (In the 80’s both local station and even The Local PBS would air Benny Hill uncut (In the mid 90’s it would also air on Comedy Central) Simply fantastic comedy genius that doesn’t get enough respect! There’s really been no other visionary like Hill he was the last of a dying breed! he was very generous with money and died poor 😢😢😢 (His legacy is amazing hopefully younger generations do a deep dive on him) He is so important to both comedy and tv in general
Thanks for your comments-I agree with every word. That's why I subscribe to you!
Benny was very professional .he had respect for the girls and they for him.they have said they enjoyed being on his shows ,
You’ve got to love benny hill. He was hilarious
i remember watching him in my younger days and so sad he passed away in his living room alone from a heart attack
That bit with the surfboard - albeit with bed whatever I happened to be carrying at the time - is why my coworkers said I don't lift right
@The Eclectic Beard You really should have watched through the end credits chase... Missed some laughs there.
Wow , what you put on your face to make the beard grow back so quickly? Lol
Lmao. I'd been holding this one. Got a couple of videos with the beard that I can release at some point.
😂😂😂 I did also wonder that!
@@thelastoftheanglosaxons.3724 God and godess bless the anglo saxons!
Horse manure?
Iv'e just been watching "It's a knockout" and the one with the royals on. I'd forgotten all about it. That was a funny game show.
Stuart Pee doh Hall and the lovely Eddy Waring.(its an up and under and hes gone for an early bath were two of his famous catch phrases)
Every Saturday night at 1:30am back in the 80s. Seemed liked everyone in high school watched.
Just a side note don't know if it was mentioned before - Benny hill was the Toy maker in chitty chitty bang bang
Benny hill loved bare knuckle comedy he was brilliant at it
I never cease to be surprised that these British comedy series did not show in the USA.
I laugh more at your reactions than at the clips you show on all your videos
Benny was great in the original Italian job and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang as well
the ToyMaker in CCBB
Not at all I've seen documentaries where then women that worked with him said he was great to work with and an absolute gentleman
Benny hills always respectable towards women and they never flirted about.
it was the feminist movement that put the end of his show and Mary Whitehouse in particular.
the high production costs was why the show ended after a no expanse spared formed on the production line due the overseas sales, the tv company's waited till till 1992 when they had no more shows left to sale overseas to bring it back three years later for a planned budget of £510,000 per show, the show still had high ratings overseas but the uk ratings that halved at 9 million viewers were only just about good for thames at the time (which got a uk repeat in three years in 1992 at 12 million due to there no benny hill show repeats in england during those three years) and the show was costing £450,000 per show, four times the average budget, where as the budget the year before the overseas break through in 1979 was only £47,000 per show in 1978, the show wouldn't of been able to continue past 1982 without the overseas sales when the uk ratings dropped to 15 million as the show was already costing more than £227,000 per show without the overseas sales, post 1982 the show was only being made due to his global success that compare to england hadn't yet fell out of favour with his humor as the uk already had him on their tvs for 32 years but the way they done it without telling him why and stopping the repeats of his shows for three years was the problem
I have yakety sax as my ringtone!
I've got it in my gym playlist.
The original was played by Boots Randolph its a great tune
He was the Toy Maker in Chitty chitty Bang Bang
I watched when 10yrs old and earlier.Goood old Benny, never let anyone say bad of him. : }x
Thanks Mr E.B.
Who remembers Hill's Angels?
WOW your beard has grown fast since yesterdays video. lol
the music that they used at the end of the show for the chase scene is called Yakety Sax. which Dolly Parton plays on the saxophone at her concerts.
The original player was a guy named Boots Randolph 👍
Most all people remember of Benny Hill today is Yakkety Sax and the girl-chasing.
But Benny's humor was Swiss-clockwork timing--Watch the way he completely dominates one sketch despite being offscreen the whole time: ua-cam.com/video/n384BuAAh2s/v-deo.html
Dear old Benny, just simple slap stick comedy, totally un-pc and totally funny.
I tried this I got a beating but I still love 🥰✌️👋
Frankie Howard was another British comedian it was good at bare knuckle comedy
I've seen you react to football chants , but maybe consider looking at the English Barmy Army .....Aka the English cricket fans especially when abroad mainly in Australia. The banter and chants are hilarious
I think u should have a look at 'the bells of saintrinian' film from 60s lots of pretty girls, love benny hill french still love him thanks for bringing back happy memories
Benny Hill girls loved their job seemingly. They were treated with respect and paid above average
Wow, you're hair grew back fast 😂😂😂😉
This is from a special he made for Australian television.
Also no camera trick in the changing room scene. It's just a mirror.
Hill was a loner outside the show and all the women who worked with him said he was always respectful. His show was canceled because Thames Television was having problems with the London ITV channel. Nothing like what happened to Winstein. Hill's audience started to decline. He once had 25 million viewers per-episode of his 3 yearly specials. but by 1989 it was down to 8 million. Also it was a very expensive program to produce.
your first comment on all these ladies appearing on the show.... he had a whole troupe of them, and they were named Hill's Angels.
Benny was hilarious! If you like silly humour, check out 'Allo 'Allo, set in wartime France. Made by the BBC, I think you'll enjoy it 👍🏻 greetings from Jubilee U.K! 🇬🇧🤝🇺🇸
It's simple and silly. Mayby that's why it's funny. And it's old. Different humor.
Too funny to be on TV now.
i used to winter in sunny philippines. All the americans I met liked Mr Bean but all said the one they loved even more was Benny Hill.
Benny Hill didn't like the ladies in that way EB .........not off screen
Benny had a horrible phobia of spending money. All of his proposals to women were rejected because of it. He never had more than 1 pair of shoes; shirt; pants. It was so sad when he passed away, in a very old appartement he had had for decades, with unspent cash hidden all other the place, along with dozens of uncashed checks. Truly a sad ending for such a successful man.
Actually they re show benny hill on clasic tv here still funny
Stop laughing eclectic my sides hurt!
