I love Benny Hill, he never fails to cheer me up! His humour was really universal and silly. A lot of his sketches involved him or the little old man trying to score, or at least to see boobs. A lot of very clever double entendres throughout his shows, and some decent slapstick. It's all just innocent and light-hearted humour, although some don't see it that way now.
I don't believe this one full sketch, I think it was several sketch's over several shows and they have all been put together for a UA-cam compilation. He often had recurring themes.
@@lmcgregoruk Funny you say that mate, as a 64 yr old NZ born, Australian Aboriginal, I find Albert Hawthorn (Benny) Hill an absolute bloody blast, he along with Kenny Everett, Dick Emery, Warren Mitchell, and a myriad of others from around the Isles, gave us all a lot of laughter, without having to swear, regardless of what it was about, gays, blacks, and all manner of folk found them to be hilarious. Humour in any guise these days, is something that we have lost, because of a handful of so called intelligent people. People who are continuously offended at something, other than themselves.
Benny Hill was an absolute legend. I just loved his saucy humour and all those lovely ladies. He made so many people laugh, so sad how he died all alone in his flat. RIP .
Totally agree one of our best its a shame the looney lefties don't like him wouldn't be on TV now because of them they don't know what good comedy is .boring lefties rip benny up there with the best of British
Benny Hill the master of slap stick and rude humour perfectly balanced with clever word play and intellectual comedy sadly a dying art form in this day and age.
"Vee can no looken for dee sheepen in der rainen" became a thing I'd say to my mum if there was a chore that had to be put off for whatever reason. Very silly and managing to parody the British perception of Swedish cinema at the time.
He parodied Raymond Burr's wheelchair-bound TV detective Ironside several times. In one sketch his cigarette lighter broke and he asked his sidekick, played by a blacked-up Bob Todd, "Do you have any lighter parts?", to which Todd replied: "No, boss, I'm the same colour all over!"
You’re possibly too young to be aware, but the final sketch (Benny in the wheelchair) is a rip-off of the 1970s American detective series starring Raymond Burr as “Ironside”. I’m sure you’ll find it on UA-cam if you want to check it out.
Interesting fact, The lady singing the nursery rhyme,,left the Benny hill show and became a teacher in the late 80's she was my English and form room teacher,,,
@@daveofyorkshire301 Just by the look of them, who's in them and what they are sending up. On checking websites on the show, this sketch is from 1973. He did something similar on BBC in 1965, also on UA-cam, doing Bo Peep in the style of Z Cars, Bonanza and the Tonight programme, with a similar Shakespeare parody. According to Imdb, Hill's Angels appeared from 1980 to 1989.
"ve cant go looken for der sheep in der rainen" hahaha!.... I haven't heard that for years. We would have a good laugh over it....... and then go out I do enjoy watching your reactions, you always make me laugh.
I don't know what they teach you in American schools, but in England they teach us not to go after the sheep in the rain, but to say in and play with the girls, what a country,
I remember some episodes of Benny Hill with just long boring monologues and dialogues that I could barely decipher, backed by laughing tracks. But there were also many episodes I remember that had a lot of hot babes and many scene and skit changes that were really funny. This one had some of both.
Hi, I think that you simply didn't 'get' all the references. Very understandable since you had to be British and in the right era. A lot of 'in' jokes. Benny rarely wasted any time, you needed to be paying attention and know about events to get the jokes. I found him funny, yet didn't really care to watch him.
I had a lot of his sketches recorded on VHS when I was a kid. Despite the fact that his verbal humour was often very hard to translate properly for other languages we loved these shows.
All the skits were based, mainly, on TV shows of the day. Shaw Taylor did a programme called Police 5 which featured brief recreations of crimes, the Nationwide skit was based on the BBC Nationwide news show, plus there was Ironside.

Still he reduces me to tears. More and more.
He was very respectful of his girls and none had a bad word to say about him. Unlike some, he never took advantage of them.
In the U.K we've lost the way we could laugh at tv shows because of the P.C brigade. 70s til the 90s were the golden era of tv comedy.
You might not learn anything from her as a teacher mate, but i guarantee you are never ever late or absent 👍🇬🇧

Bob Todd in blackface in the Ironside sketch! Completely illegal nowadays.
It's not illegal nowadays, it's just everybody realises how offense if can be to certain people these days.

Our Benny was a genius and a national treasure. Then the puritans got their hypocritical hands round his artistic neck.
Benny Hill is a comic genius.
