love the vid guys. the sped up vid of johnny b building the models is a great idea and the history lesson is much appreciated aswell.
Thanks buddy. Still experimenting with the modelling videos.
What a fantastic video! Modelling and plenty of History thrown in too. I love the tangents you both went off on then.... - 'anyway getting back to the sprues'
Plus Johnnys' hand expressions on the 'in screen' video as he builds the models! lol. shields that won't stick, arms falling off so funny!
Thoroughly entertained in my lunch hour today - keep up the great work guys.
We did have a fair old ramble in this one. Hopefully its worth listening to.
very nice unbox, I especially enjoyed the historical information , it really added to the video-all in all great job you guys.
Thank you .
Great stuff Guys! I am really impressed with the Vitrix models. Loving this whole Ancients vibe. I guess we all caught the Ancients bug. Looking forward to more.
Definitely nice models, and thanks for putting us on to Mortal Gods
Yeah, I've been getting into those sweet plastic historical sprues. I'm looking to sail my hobby ship towards Oathmark, 'cause I still like to mix some fantasy in.
I haven't had chance to look at Oathmark yet. It does seem to be gathering interest
I do like the little build window
Still experimenting, not sure if it is too distracting.
Thanks for the video. Really interesting in many different ways. I have been thinking about these figures but have yet to take the plunge. I used to play WAB in the day and that had a Punic wars supplement. Sadly out of production now. However, if you played old Warhammer games it was really easy to pick up and play.
I never tried Warhammers brief experiments with historical games.
Gosh I remember when I first discovered Victrix, bought a bunch of these and republican romans. Built two armies for Clash of Empires, basically a balanced version of Warhammer Ancient Battles, 150 infantry figures each. Without cavalry or war machines, my gaming group was not interested and said it was like two of the same armies walking towards each other.(yet they were completely happy with playing Warhammer like this at the time)
Clash of Empires is another one on the list to have a look at.
Victrix are very nice figures, definetly liked their French Naps. I do find they sometines have some twiddly snappy bits though :/
Might have to have a look at them.
Brilliant mate. Always had a hard time with understanding carthaginians. Never managed to get the hang of playing them in Rome 1 total war 🤣 but great reviews guys. And they are some really lovely figures. Nice one 😁👍
Rome to, now that takes me back. Loved that game back in the day.
Now, what on earth might these be for? 🤔
Now there is a good question!
Bolt Action Battle Report #10 - Rommel and the Tunisian uprising. Expect to see lots of Close Quarters action.

Victrix models look really good. It’s a shame shipping to the US is so expensive. I’ve been interested in an ancients game and can’t land on one I like. Definitely interested to see what you gents settle on
Shame the shipping is prohibitive. We will definitely be trying a few different systems for ancients
My Carthaginians just showed up. Awesome sculpts. Good value for money. The one criticism would be that the Javelins are really fragile.
Mine were okay, but I know what you mean.
That's a real downer for plastic miniatures, though the thin, in-scale appearance of spears and such is really nice. Metal ones tend to never look quite right. Of course, anything that thin is going to be pretty easy to bend of break regardless of material, unless it's steel wire or something (which comes with its own downsides in the form of impaling careless handlers).
@@Agamemnon2 I have painful memories from old pikemen made with piano wire weapons!
Skirmish Gaming in the Ancient Period, the new album from King Crimson?
I have to declare ignorance here...
Victrix are wonderful figures and great value for money nice unboxing dudes
Thanks, having a go at any ancients yourself?
@@ModellingforAdvantage I may consider buying a box or two unsure what period though
@@basicminiaturepainting you can't go wrong with Romans I guess, if you can't make up your mind.
Great vid - thanks! Somehow missed it when it first appeared. I've got a few different skirmish sized warbands (mostly Roman, Gaul, Germanic and various allies/mercs) from Republic to Augustan from a variety of manufacturers (metal and plastic), and the Victrix figures are great. I do find them quite large compared to the plastic Warlord figures, and giants compared to the older metal figures from Essex and Magister Militum - not that I mind, people come in all shapes and sizes after all!
Glad you enjoyed it. I do tend to waffle on a bit when we do historical stuff, but hopefully some of it is interesting.
Great video gents!! Really interesting stuff!
Thank you sir!
Nice one chaps, really enjoyed that. This set and the elephants is what I'll be working on in October but im going to be adding bits and bibs for a winter theme 👍😀 "punched Rome in the dick" made me spit my tea out, bravo sirs 😅
Jonny B does have a certain eloquence.
Great video 😊
Thanks! 😊
Another great unboxing, gents! It'll be interesting to see you use these minis in the future! It was also a great history lesson on the empire that "punched Rome in the dick!.... Hard!" 🤣🤣🤣
I also really enjoyed seeing Johnny B do the clip of Shawn Michael's "Sexy Boy". 🤣
Keep up the great work as always, gents!!!

Jonny B is such a secy boy!
Hi guys, have started collecting victrix normans and republican romans. Any chance you guys could do some unboxings of more victrix excellent kits? Also enjoying the historical info on your vids too. Thanks
They're on the list of things to do!
Great to hear. Starting my Republican Romans Christmas...hint hint ; )
Saga are bringing out the age of hannibal expansion if your interasted
Haven't had chance to look at saga yet.
@@ModellingforAdvantage may suit you both as you said you like skirmish games one of my favourite skirmish games at the moment
Holy cow - no way. But I still watched
6 months from now you will be staring at some pile of ancients models thinking... those prats at MfA did this to me!
5:34 "Phoenicians are from Finland"... This must be the joke of the century! Ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!
Jonny B bringing all the knowledge there!
