I've only had my new NX350h for a few weeks & I haven't linked my wife yet, so this video is very timely & will come in handy in getting my wife set up. I must say that the process seems a little bit convoluted. Especially the bit about having to drive the car at 3 mph to get things to take effect.
@@garyburke4535 Agreed. The old process was much simpler to link your keys to your memory seats/mirror settings. Took me over an hour trying figure out the vague manual and why the seats weren’t adjusting automatically based on my profile linked to the key.
Thanks for being here. I couldn't agree more about how overly complicated they have designed the memory for the driver position. It has been very challenging since they tied it not only to the profile, but requiring this drive to get the automatic recall is a lot. If you are the only profile on the vehicle it happens naturally, because you set up everything and then you're going to drive at some point and it will check that off the list. The issue is with multiple profiles. It is a much more normal process to set up one profile after the other and not realize that you need to save the driving position while a profile is active on the car and to get the automatic adjustment, driving sets that for the "recall." I also wish they had stated from the beginning that you HAVE to lock the vehicle for this to work, no matter how you set it up. We have a lot of people in our area who don't seem to lock their cars in their garage at home. So then their phone won't always connect and their seat won't automatically go to the last position. The joys of ever evolving technology :) Congratulations on your new NX! I drive the NX also and really love it. I hope my tutorials will help you and your wife enjoy it also!
Thanks so much for your support! I'm so glad I could duplicate the steps you discovered and when I talked with my other Technology Specialist friends, Dylan mentioned that he was also using those steps and it was working for him. Big Yay! Thank you again for being here!
@@NorthsideLexus Glad to help. I’ve been pleasantly surprised just how accurate it seems to still pick up who’s key is in use when my wife is standing near the passenger door with her key in purse, and I unlock the driver’s door with my key. I surmise it picks up both keys in the vicinity, but initiates the memory profile for the key whose door got opened.
I forgot to mention, another checks and balances I’ve tested was also registered facial recognition on the profiles as well. That way the car knows who is currently in the driver’s seat, and I have tested it where I enter with my wife’s key and it asks if I want to change profile (bc it recognized me) for this driving session. Not sure if that is helpful for others, but seems to be working in conjunction with what we set up here. 🤷🏻♂️
@@ONI1013. That is so great to hear! I know it isn't a perfect system, but now that Lexus has the profile recognition working well, this is a tremendous improvement over how the seat was operating when the system was first launched.
@@ONI1013. Now that is really interesting! Not all vehicles have the Face ID feature, but for those that have it, it's a nice additional way for the vehicle to recognize the profile that the face id is attached to. So basically the system is "recognizing" your face and then connecting the profile liked to that face id. Based on how the new profile recognition software works it prioritizes in this order: looks for Face ID (If equipped), looks for Linked Key at the driver's door, then if all else fails it will load the last profile active on the vehicle. That is why if you don't lock the car, it will usually only load the last profile. It's also why many people used to get kicked out to Guest mode on the early versions of the new system if they didn't lock the car. Basically the car didn't know to load a profile, because looking for the profile, phone, etc. is part of the unlocking process.
Good Morning Melissa! Thank you for the very detailed and helpful video. I have a question for you, can I get one of those key cards for my RX500h? If so how? I appreciate your time!
Thanks so much for watching! I'm not sure why, but the RXs don't seem to come with the key cards. I would check with the Parts Department at your Lexus dealership and see if they are compatible. Hope this helps!
Maybe this only works in the U.S. I own a 2023 Lexus RX350 luxury model, and none of what you indicated works with my vehicle. When i touch my profile name, nothing happens. I've searched all over the settings and can't find anything that you said was there in the settings menu. There is no link key setting. My key is already linked. There are no seat settings in the menus, only the manual buttons on the door.
Perhaps. I only have access to Lexus in the US since that is where I'm located. If you select Personal Info and you don't see Link Key as an option, then this tutorial will not apply to your vehicle. Hopefully some of the other videos will work for you. Thanks for being here.
Hi! Locking the vehicle is required for this. Even in a private garage. On the upside, when you unlock the car, it will look for your profile and the wireless connection to your phone. So everything connects much more successfully. If you still forget to lock it in the garage, you can always touch the lock sensor on the door handle and then unlock from the driver's door handle right after. Thanks for being here!
Please explain how to activate or change a pre-set seat memory position -- while driving. I was told that Lexus doesn't allow that on "safety" grounds. It's too cumbersome to force us to pull over, put the car in P, just to adjust the seat position. No other car requires that level of "safety".
You cannot while the car is in Drive mode. That’s been a Lexus safety feature for years. You would have to select the memory seat position _before_ you drive.
@ That's a stupid choice made by overzealous Lexus brass. So you're on a busy highway and want to change to your favorite highway driving position. You now need to find a way to pull over, put it on P, change seat position, and find a way to get back in heavy traffic. Is that really safer? They think that anything goes by labeling it "safety". No other manufacturer limits that, so it's not required by government safety codes. Do they mean to imply that other car manufacturers aren't "safe"?
@If you’re on a busy highway driving, it’s probably not a good idea to be adjusting your seats for obvious safety reasons for yourself and others. If you absolutely have to adjust your seats, you can still do so manually while in drive. The lock out is just for retrieve the memory seat positions.
@@ONI1013. Holy smokes, is that Lexus coolaid really that sweet? How's fiddling with the seats manually any safer than pushing one button to recall a pre-set position? Again, all other manufacturers allow this. Even Toyota.
Always great video from your channel. Thanks!
So nice of you! Thanks for all of your support!

What if you park your car in a garage and don't lock it every night. My wife and I always need to press the 1 button to adjust the seats.
