    If you have an older Lexus equipped with Lexus Safety Sense, you can watch this older how-to video I made about these systems here:

    Got a 2024 Lexus GX 550, and couldn't figure this out at all. Thanks!

    I have a 2024 RX 350 bought two months ago, but until I watch your instruction today, I was very confused of which button does what on the right side of my steering wheel. Thank you for your great contribution. Lexus should pay you for your free teaching to their car buyers! The “experts” at their dealership could not do a better job than you did!

    Very helpful thank you.
    I encountered a situation which I had not prepared for, so for 10 or 15 seconds I was speeding around a tight curve, a very uncomfortable and potentially dangerous situation.
    I was in heavy traffic with the Cc set at 90 kph. I was in the left lane. The right lane became clear, so I changed into the right lane.
    As I was changing I noted the speed limit dropped from 90 to 60 kph, at the beginning of a tight uphill turn. The sign was at the apex of the curve, so not prominent. Nor was there a warning of the change.
    I was driving a RX350 F Sport, and had selected Sports Plus mode. The radar noted the clear road ahead, so accelerated to 90 kph. The acceleration was ferocious, and the feeling was like a roller coaster.
    I focussed on staying in my lane, and could not touch the brake to shut down the CC. WHEEE! WOWEE! Glad the steering and suspension was tight, and not at all floaty or boaty.
    When the road straightened I shut down CC.
    Today I am revising the CC videos, as it was a very nasty surprise, and could have easily become a disaster. I have discussed the near accident with my wife, so it becomes a learning experience
    I have vowed to be vigilant, actively looking for changes in the speed limits. The situation was a sudden change from rural, with no warning of a change in speed limit, as is usually the case. This is in Sydney Australia.

    Great video! I am just wondering how to change from regular cruise control mode to adaptive WHILE driving the 2024 NX350h? When I press the Cruise Cont. mode button while driving, the screen tells me that I can't use this feature while I am driving. I'd rather not use it in the town but yes on the highway. There has to be a way to enable and disable during operation. Any thoughts? Also, how do I turn off the automatic braking.... or is this part of the adaptive cruise control.. I am confused.

    How does the optional traffic jam assist relate or integrate with the radar cruise control?

    • @CarDietrich
      @CarDietrich  Рік тому

      The traffic jam assist is optional, and if equipped it makes it so you don't have to hit "Resume" or the gas pedal as often in heavy stop-and-go traffic to get the car moving again after the DRCC brings the vehicle to a stop

    I recently purchased a 2014 LS500. The adaptive cruise control works beautifully with one exception. I keep getting the red steering wheel on my HUD telling me to put my hands on the wheel, even though my hands are on the wheel.. I tried different postitions to place my hands, even squeezing the wheel. It still comes on and is driving me crazy. I went to my Lexus dealer and talked with the technolgy guy and was told he would investigate. Do I have a bad connection to the steering wheel? Have you heard of this problem?

    • @CarDietrich
      @CarDietrich  2 місяці тому

      Squeezing the wheel is not usually what puts pressure on it, it’s moving the wheel slightly (like when you make a small correction in steering) that lets the system know you still have your hands on it. Try making minor steering corrections more often and see if that helps.

    Prefer Lane Keeping Assist to the new name. Never use the ACC on city streets, highway/freeway only.

    Hi i just got a 2024 Lexus NX350...I am not using the dynamic cruise control...but it automatically stops when you are in a stop light when a car is in front of me. The problem is the braking is too early, how do I change that?

    • @CarDietrich
      @CarDietrich  2 місяці тому

      Look up "Changing the pre-collision setting" in your owners manual. Set it to "Later"

    • @CarDietrich
      @CarDietrich  4 місяці тому

      Just don’t turn the Dynamic Cruise on in the first place. If you activate it by accident somehow, just hit the brake pedal to turn it off.

      @@rustynail7866 Adaptive cruise control has NOTHING to do with the steering. It’s just the car holding the set distance between the other car. If it gets slower yours get slower too.
      Lane Tracing is another point you could turn off no matter the ACC

    This is very similar to my Tesla model Y which mine is called basic auto pilot. Mine will also navigate on any correctly marked highway and will also not obey traffic lights and signs - have to manually take over.
    In your video, the thing about these driver assist features is using them along with the very "impatient human" drivers on the roads. If we don't move right away, they honk their horns and get all flustered because we didn't move for a few seconds or waited for something in front of us. I have no idea why they are in such a big hurry to go nowhere or get to the next stop light and slam on their brakes.
    This Lexus might be one step up on what Tesla is doing with the radar in your vehicle. Tesla is trying to do driver assists by using just multiple cameras, no radar. I wonder if the radar in the Lexus solves the "phantom braking" issue that Tesla's get with only camera usages?
    Anyway, thanks for the video on the Lexus vehicle.

    • @CarDietrich
      @CarDietrich  9 місяців тому

      I have not experienced "phantom braking" in the couple of Lexus models or in the Toyota models with safety sense 3.0 that I have driven recently. I will also add that I've done probably 50,000 miles in various Subaru models that rely solely on cameras for their adaptive cruise and safety systems, and rarely if ever experienced it with them either
