  • In the video I’m restoring the fuel injection cool fuel module on a Mercruiser 6.2 engine. The cool fuel module contains a fuel pump, a fuel to water heat exchanger, and a fuel pressure regulator all in one housing mounted low on the port side of the engine. Due to its location it often gets corroded and rusty, esp on saltwater boats. I’m doing what I can to save this module since you can’t buy new parts for it anymore.

Brother....go find good used parts and brackets. They are available. Also JB weld on the fuel pressure regulator? I'd bet good money that's a $30 AC Delco regulator. JB welding junk parts is asking for trouble. Do your customer right and fix it right or turn them away. This will be back in short order.

Customer didn’t want to pay for another part and told me to fix it anyway I could. I looked for another bracket and regulator used but couldn’t find one for a reasonable price. The machine shop I use JB welds blocks all the time to make repairs so if it works I use it. The regulator is never under pressure always vacuum so the epoxy should hold. That was a special Mercruiser regulator that I haven’t seen in any other application. This entire engine was almost too rusted to repair but I restored it to decent condition. I just didn’t publish all the videos. If I turned every customer with a rough boat away I just about wouldn’t have any customers.
