You CANNOT wear a Rolex to your first interview for a mid-level job (meaning even if you are getting out of a good business school, your first job will be mid-level at best, even if you enter a big consulting firm or a big bank). It's just too visible a watch. Better to wear a vintage Omega Seamaster or a vintage Calatrava, which will be far more understated. Don't get me wrong, a Rolex Datejust is a fantastic watch but some interviewers will view it as a sign of arrogance, especially when it's still tough to get one at retail.
Totally disagree with the Submariner being the worst dive watch. Agree most people buy them for investments or posing. I bought my bi metal 16613 with blue dial in late 1988 and I wore it every day for 25 years. I only stopped wearing daily after people started being mugged for them. I wore it free diving, swimming, surfing, wind surfing, jet skiing, sailing, running, in triathlons, cycling, rock climbing, gliding, karting and on superbikes. It's survived several car and bike crashes. I've had it serviced twice in 35 years, and it still looks pretty much perfect today, and is worth 4 times what I paid for it new! Is the only watch I will never sell. It isn't the best dive watch, that's the sea-dweller 4000 in my opinion.
You are definitely in the minority. I have spoken to countless Sub owners who confess to their fears of getting their Sub wet. Yes, not even swim with it, in a waddling pool. They were simply unable to reconcile the fact that the Sub (or most sports / dive watches) are more water-resistant than their wearers.
A 35 year old Sub is from a different time and place. The ashes of the quartz crisis were still smoldering, Rolex had only begun to reinvent their identity. It’s simply not comparable to how Rolex positions the watch today. The guy was asked what the worst diver is, they could have asked for the least likely to be used as a diver or most reflective of hubris and that would have been a better targeted question.
Submariner is a copycat design from US Navy. It's name is copied from Brook & sons watch. It's movement is made by Jean Aegler. Bracelet is made by gay frères. & In 1958, Rolex submariner was tested to it's claim of 100m but actually their model isn't even close to 30m & been officially removed from list. Where the hell is even close to iconic ?? Rolex name is on the dial that's it. It's a most disgusting watch in the entire world. 🤮
Great content guys. This is what I hope we all want to see. No rolex market predictions, no talk on other UA-camrs, no shameless self promotion. Also ‘funny’ to see Balasz after hearing him dozens of times on the podcast for Fratello. On the job interview agree with going vintage. Stylish and still humble. Some great suggestions on that earlier in the video.
Best watch for a job interview has got to be a yellow gold Rolex President Day-Date. Say to the interviewer "this watch costs more than what you make in year!"
Excellent episode. My underrated Omega would be the Constellation Globemaster. Here in the United States, the Constellation is really never mentioned. I rarely see individuals wearing a Constellation. The Constellation is an excellent timepiece.
As prophesied in the video, loads of triggered Sub owners jumping to the defense of the Sub by sharing their personal anecdotes about using the Sub in water. I, however, have heard countless Sub owners spoke about their fears of using their Subs in water (not even in a waddling pool). 😂
I guess my job interview-watch would be a Seiko Cocktail time (not sure which one though, as I just started deep diving into the world), I’d say it’s attractive, reliable and modest.
And the worst SUV is a Range Rover, because nobody goes offroad with these expensive cars. Watching this guy who probably got his nose broken in a fight defending his sub (now wearing his only other watch, a 30$ digital) makes me laugh all day long...
Omega is always at the bottom of my list while starting with vintage. A lot of frankensteins out there, too many references, too hard to navigate market.
To say that the Submariner is the worst of all diving watches is purely provocative. So banal! And such absolute nonsense. I am bitterly disappointed by such an arrogant, decadent position.
Bravo for the comment that Rolex Sub is worst diver in the world, totaly agreee. He is not wors only as a Diver, that is worst watch overall. Completly in love with vintage Rolex, but moder??? No coment
As for the Submariner - if you want a good dive watch, you don't put a greyish platinum in the bezel - you put bright white, and even lumed white. But it's all for show and desk diving aesthetics - not for diving - we all know that. But there's no question that sub owners on the whole are the biggest douchebags in the watch world.
My best dress watches are VC Corne de Vache and Moser Endeavour with blue fume dial. The dials and cases are so well designed I could never get tired of staring at them.
I am tired of listening about dive watches and diving. This design might have started with that in mind but it has been appreciated and evolved as the most practical one for an everyday watch for most people with all its merits.
Very wrong on the sub topic. How the watch is used, has nothing to do with how good it is. But more importantly, almost ALL of modern diving is done with dive computers (I use a Shearwater) at this point, so no mechanical watch is really used for diving (maybe as a backup). You can maybe say the Submariner is common or boring, but it is a very reliable and comfortable watch, it excels in it's class.
Worst diver should go to the LV Tambour Street Diver which won the GPHG diver category at only 100M water resistance.... Best hands should go to Mortiz Grossman.
I think objectively speaking the seamaster 300 is the worst dive watch simply because the features are unworkable- the scallop bezel was always too hard to work and the HEV is simply poor engineering. It’s a watch where style / design is favoured over function However it’s a a super popular watch and like the submariner shows what people are actually seeking in their dive watch
My father bought me an Omega Dynamic in 1972 when I was 12. By the time it was ten years old it would stop working at least once a year if mot more. I realized what a great watch Rolex was when my both my wife and I’s Rolexes went over 20 years without service.
Best handset I agree is the Omega broad arrow with the arrow on the hour hand, and not the arrow on the minute hand (like on the Aqua Terra). After that I'd give it to the Grand Seiko dauphine handset.
If I was interviewing somebody wearing a Rolex, Id think that the person didn’t need a job as he can afford to live without a job if he can afford a Rolex. Impressions matter and some people can over do it as much as looking slovenly at a job interview. Ive been an employer and it has to be horses for courses. Blue collar jobs require appropriate wear as much as white collar jobs! By the way, Submariners have got to be too overpriced for diving and most cash strapped dive enthusiasts/professionals. Something more rugged and far less expensive would be a better option. Most Seiko Prospex models fit the bill quite adequately.
You sound like you are only interested in interviewing people who you think need your job so badly that they need to come across as impoverished. I am guessing you are a manager of a Micky D's. Me, I like to interview and hire already successful people and I am not shallow enough to make judgements simply based on their horological jewelry.
Before we throw stones at Panerai, Submersible 300m, bezel action is among the best. Not all Panerai’s are created equal, you wouldn’t compare a Rolex Cellini to a Submariner.
I've said submariner out loud as soon I've heard the question 😂 And I love Rolex. Design wise I could go with Legend Diver, weak lume and internal bezel that requires crown to be unscrewed underwater to set it or change. Love that watch too.
Is the Submariner a dive watch? I thought it was now just jewellery? In the UK, it's totally a working class, tradesman's piece now. I don't know any educated people who own one now. And it's a bit anachronistic. Especially when a guy comes into a bar, wearing a jacket with super short sleeves, so he can flash his dangly Sub. It's just ridiculous. Just spend a bit more money, and get a proper watch. The game has moved on.
Ok let’s hear it: What’s the ACTUAL worst dive watch?
Panerai with 30 meters water resistance ...
Hard choice between Panerai, and the Swatch+Blancpain plasticy thing

Watch for a job interview: Seiko / Citizen / Orient.

So basically you are getting upset because nobody wants to mug it anymore…
You are definitely in the minority. I have spoken to countless Sub owners who confess to their fears of getting their Sub wet. Yes, not even swim with it, in a waddling pool. They were simply unable to reconcile the fact that the Sub (or most sports / dive watches) are more water-resistant than their wearers.
The Submariner took the dive out of dive watch the moment they went with ceramic inserts and became a watch of pretenders and not achievers.
A 35 year old Sub is from a different time and place. The ashes of the quartz crisis were still smoldering, Rolex had only begun to reinvent their identity. It’s simply not comparable to how Rolex positions the watch today.

Great video but very wrong about Submariner. I have 3 Subs and all have spent significant time in the water.
Confirmation Bias is a heavy drug
There's always one in the comments

By far my favorite watch content these days next to T and H. Great video.
Best watch for a job interview has got to be a yellow gold Rolex President Day-Date. Say to the interviewer "this watch costs more than what you make in year!"
Gents you have done the best content these days, a pleasure to watch.
Excellent episode. My underrated Omega would be the Constellation Globemaster. Here in the United States, the Constellation is really never mentioned. I rarely see individuals wearing a Constellation. The Constellation is an excellent timepiece.
I have a Connie Globemaster (blue dial w rose gold bezel and crown) and I hardly ever see another one being worn, but it gets a lot of compliments.
As prophesied in the video, loads of triggered Sub owners jumping to the defense of the Sub by sharing their personal anecdotes about using the Sub in water.
I, however, have heard countless Sub owners spoke about their fears of using their Subs in water (not even in a waddling pool). 😂
Much like men's clothing, for me the worst decade was the 70's
This guest is not either terrible or great. He is just mediocre.
I don’t even like the sub by what is this guy talking about?
Terrible worst diver choice 🤦🏻♂🤦🏻♂
hmmmm......worst dive watch? I agree with your first thought: speedmaster, submariner, calatrava; in any case, I enjoyed the video; thank you.
I guess my job interview-watch would be a Seiko Cocktail time (not sure which one though, as I just started deep diving into the world), I’d say it’s attractive, reliable and modest.

Worst diver: the Rolex Sub (what?!? worst answer ever 😂). Best dial: Rolex Sub 🤦🏻♂️🫠🤯😱😶🌫️😵😵💫….
Omega is always at the bottom of my list while starting with vintage. A lot of frankensteins out there, too many references, too hard to navigate market.

1970s!!??? Hands down the ugliest decade in human history. Nothing from the 70s is nice looking from a design standpoint 🤮

Think your guest is too expert brand obsessed, not actual watches, which IMO is not a watch expert and a follower, not a leader, a sheep

Never wear a Rolex on your first job interview out of college. Very bad advice
You guys forgot to list the Breguet Classique as a dress watch option!
Really swatch speedmaster. None of them.
Was it just me…or was that a really awkward interview?
Worst diver should go to the LV Tambour Street Diver which won the GPHG diver category at only 100M water resistance....
Best hands should go to Mortiz Grossman.
I have a BA145.022 Speedmaster (1969 "Nixon"), which is also my dress watch.

Tom, with those glasses and 'tasche' you need to start a 21st version of "You bet your life."
Best handset I agree is the Omega broad arrow with the arrow on the hour hand, and not the arrow on the minute hand (like on the Aqua Terra). After that I'd give it to the Grand Seiko dauphine handset.
No wristcheck?
Love these plus and minus videos. Best watch discussions on UA-cam by far!
Guys nuts
Sub is the best
The pinky ring.

Wear an Apple Watch to a Rolex interview. HAHA!
good

When looking at Panerai's catalogue, one could argue that the Submersible is the exception that proves the rule.
What watch is the guy with the glasses wearing?
That's a Cartier Santos 2965 with a tropical slate (or "ghost") dial
Best rolex dial is the blue fluted-motif DJ all day
Range Rover, How many ppl buy these and never take them off road?
You're right, they're more likely to be found in the repair shop anyway 😅
IMHO, Best Rolex dial ever created had to be the vintage Rolex 6062 triple calendar moonphase.
Great shoutout. How cool would it be to see a new Rolex 1908 with the star hour markers?
Yes indeed! @@Chrono24Official
I've said submariner out loud as soon I've heard the question 😂 And I love Rolex. Design wise I could go with Legend Diver, weak lume and internal bezel that requires crown to be unscrewed underwater to set it or change. Love that watch too.
Sad but true. The Legend Diver is so handsome but not the best in terms of functionality

SUPER GUYS!! Thank youuuu
Submariner is the worst dive watch 🤦♂️ Were did you find this guy? 🤣🤣🤣 Do you really want to lose 99% of your subscribers? 😀
Your talking about best watch, and then wear a rubber watch??? You lost all your credibility
We won't tolerate any G-Shock hate here
Tell that to Nico Leonard. He has more watch credibility than you 🥳
