Gary Marshal was my boss in 1977-1978 when I was an apprentice writer on Happy Days. He was a great guy. I was on the set there with Happy Days, Laverne & Shirley and Taxi was across the street from my office. I was there for the Andy Kaufman-Tony Clifton saga. I went to lunch in the commissary with Vulcans and Little House cast. Has breakfast every morning with Ron Leavitt (Married With Children) who was a writer on HD. Jeff Franklin and I had the same job only he was on Laverne & Shirley. I watched the World Series with Penny Marshall. So many amazing memories. I did not have a parking space negotiated so every day I came in the side door where Lucy & Desi went in. I knew Robin Williams before he was famous. Went to Anson Williams bachelor Party with the cast. A lot of the writers came from Dick Van Dyke show and Odd Couple. I saw Orson Wells at the Mexican restaurant across the street Lucy’s. I met Jimmy Durante. Shook his hand. He said “how are you kid”. George Burns too. Amazing times.

Well done, Jordan. What a great soul Garry was. That writer gave him the best advice, never stop learning, a foot in every door. Good for any career. And always be nice & appreciate those around you. Words to live by.

Fantastic vlog! I always was aware of Garry Marshall by seeing his name in the credits but didn't know much about him. Sounds like a wonderful man. I also like hearing how he and others from back in the day were so willing to share their artistic talents with others to help them be better. Nowadays everyone wants a lot of money to help out.

Great video again Jordan. Atascadero is San Luis Obispo County off of 101 which is south of Monterey. I always loved watching all of the sitcoms that Gary Marshall did. Pure talent.

What a talented blessing Garry Marshall was. Thank you for that Tribute to Garry's legacy and work. It was and is truly amazing. Not many people with this volume of good, clean talent he gave to entertainment!

My daughter was an extra in one of Robin Williams movies, and she has some pretty interesting stories of his zany talent. I had no idea Garry started his career on television.

My mom and I watched all his shows and it was such good clean comedy and we loved them! I always liked Garry Marshall, but now I respect him even more! That he was such a funny guy and made Robin Williams who he was! I had forgotten he did Pretty Woman, which I thought was so funny! Bless his heart and your research is amazing! I have learned sooo much from you!

My wife and I always head down to Riverside Drive when we're in the area so that we cave lunch at Bob's Big Boy. I'm amazed that neither of us have noticed The Gary Marshall Theater! I really enjoy most of your videos but this one has given me a new goal: Visit The Gary Marshall Theater! Also, although I used to frequently travel the Pearblossom Highway, I've never bothered stopping in at Charlie Brown Farms. You can bet I will now but it's going to be difficult to get my wife to leave. It looks better than the Tillamook Creamery in Oregon. And while I'm at it, Jordan, did you ever vlog The Music Box steps in the Silver Lake area? It's on Vendome Street. This is the location of the famous Laurel & Hardy Oscar winning short film, The Music Box. I can just see you and Jah making the climb up and down those steps. The Laurel & Hardy Park is across the street, where my wife and I will sit and have lunch. I think Jah could enjoy that. Anyway, thanks for all of your great videos.

Had the pleasure of meeting Garry Marshall (along w/Penny & Cindy Williams) at one of the Hollywood Shows many years ago. A lovely guy! (Reminded him of his guest-appearance, along with that of his sister Ronnie on "The Odd Couple" where they played "Myrna Turner's" siblings "Werner Turner" & "Verna Turner." Hilarious!)

Another great VLOG! Jordan you are like so many of the people you make vlogs about, because of all your great life experiences and the kaleidoscope of random people you've met, become friends with. ( Like Shelly Winters ). Mix that with your excellent ability to tell a story.

fyi- there's a MARJORIE MARSHALL theater at Northwestern University//which Gray graduated from. Marjorie ran a precision tap dance studio in the cellar/basement of their building....appearances on Jackie Gleeson Show and Ted MAck's Amateur Hour and Garry, Penny and Ronnie grew up 3 blocks from where I live in the Bronx (not Brooklyn) at 3235 Grand Concourse....and he attended P.S. 80 and DeWitt Clinton HS....was a sports reporter there. If you get a chance, try to interview Hector Elizondo...another native New Yorker....who appearred in 17 Garry Marshall films. You v-logged this about one month after Penny Marshall died. Hector has joyous stories of how Garry always had the crew on his movies compete gainst each other in various on-set parades. Also....whenever interviewing actors + actresses, ALWAYS offered them a sandwich..."even if I don't end up hiring you....for this....you'll at least have a nice sandwich". Garry was a PISSER. Sorry to hear that you didn't get over to the Gary Marshall Theater for the Mayim Bialik/Beaches screening.
Some of my elederly neighbors went to the MArjorie MArshall School of Dance and knew the Marshalls growing up...3 blocks away or some went to sschool with hem. The Carl Reiner family, inluding Ro Reiner, lived on the other side of the 6 lane Grand Concourse....Penny and rob, who re-met in LA in the late 60s, and were married for 10 years never knew each other growing up, but Penny said that she knew the Reiner's because they gave out he best Halloween candy in that building. Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren/aka Ralph LIfschitz, Neil Simon, Paddy Chayefsky all grew up in the same building....3235 Grand Concourse. Must be someting extra in the water pipes. lol
