- 2024 Topps Chrome Sapphire was released this past week. In this video the Spitballin' team breaks down the good, the bad, and the ugly about 2024 Topps Chrome Sapphire and if it is a good set to target in 2024.

Bowman Draft? You're thoughts? And also Pro Debut?
Jeff here: appreciate the support! Not a huge fan of Pro Debut, as the cards seem to be immediately overshadowed by subsequent rookie releases.
Love Draft though, as it includes so many players’ 1st Bowman Chrome cards and autos, which definitely do stand the test of time. We’ll have a preview of this year’s as it gets closer.
Like Jeff, a huge fan of Bowman Draft. It's one of the few products that Fanatics hasn't messed with (because they don't need to). Topps Pro Debut is an affordable alternative to Bowman if you're looking for prospects and better odds at hits (if you don't mind sticker autos).
@@Philmington cheers again for the reply. I'm glad both your views tied in with mine. I must have learnt something from the four of you! I'll have to have a chat at some point about the differences collecting in the UK. It has its pros and cons.

Nice to hear honest opinions on the actual designs. Seems like most collectors only see value and really don’t care about the actual look as a card.

@@SpitballinCards I can respect that. It’s all important to me. With what they are charging for wax, it would be nice to see less lazy cards. Manufactures bank on people looking for lottery tickets and not the actual collector.
I like the auto image on Chourio's card better than regular chrome. With the price of his base /199 around the cost of a box, it's easy for me to wait until singles in the off-season

I think between the rookie class and the low print run, they knocked it out of the park. Sapphire is awesome and this year it’s produced so many great cards. I don’t think I’ve had a single bad box yet. I do miss when Topps released it as a base set. I do agree on the image variations, the photos used were kind of lame.. hoping sapphire update will have Skenes on card autos 😬

It really makes me sad watching the prices of these online sapphire products going higher and higher in price. I went back and looked at how much I paid for different sapphire products since 2020. It’s depressing

dont buy. 700 card list. the cards dont resell for that much more. if youre hunting for specific player, just buy it.
the team cards HAVE TO GO.

@@SpitballinCards totally agree. i got into a bunch of breaks. even on cases, odds wise hitting a specific player wasnt even a given. No PCA in my cubs break. i got into a 3 case player break, won no name 5 players and only hit one card.
but, ive seen TONS of cases with duplicate autos. so two or three of one player in that case. one case- 7 autos of just 3 players. so can be boom or bust.
Yes if you're rich. No if you're not. I'm sorry but Sapphire wax has been overpriced for years. Singles I don't mind once in awhile of the sleeper guys. Not buying high $ hype. It rarely pans out.

Waiting for Sapphire Update to grab boxes but will buy the Judge base, SP, and Selections once the prices cool down.

If you get lazy on your auto, you get lazy on your training. That is a work ethic problem.

As usual, I’m Letting everyone else spend $$$ on opening, and then buying singles of the couple guys I want. Yea it’s boring not getting to rip any packs but if I’m gonna rip anything, it’s gonna be update because of its price point. I’ll only be interested in chrome update if the autos are on card.

Sapphire is out of my comfort zone for what it is - two parallels and no guaranteed autos. That makes it very expensive. I have paid $500 for one box of wax before but it was Bowman and would only ever be Bowman if I did it again. Yes, the cards are nice but for the price and the chance to hit it's one of the easier passes in the hobby. It will be interesting to see if Fanatics brings out a brand new product which is not a variation on the same theme: Topps Chrome Cosmic, Gilded, Sapphire etc. Something new. Just leave Bowman alone.
Why when showing any Topps products, the rookie that is in display is either Chousrio or Holliday, but never the actual ROY and All star in his rookie year Jackson Merrill!?🇺🇸⚾️

It would be nice if you showed the cards you talk about. I'm new back to the hobby and there are cards you reference that loses me. I love the topics and the channel but visual references would help. That Kershaw card is the worst!

Jackson etc. are only SP in Series 2, that is probably why they aren't in it. Can't get a base Sapphire if you don't have a base Flagship.
2022 was a similar situation with Julio, Bobby, Tork being in Update. They weren't in in Sapphire until Update Sapphire either.
I think J-Rod and Witt had base cards in both Sapphire and Sapphire Update.

@@Philmington You are right, I thought they had SP Variations in Chrome Sapphire, but they are base. I don't think I ever saw one pulled, probably because of 660 card checklist.
I love these cards. So beautiful. But unfortunately once again the price goes up meaning Topps is just pushing more and more products to breakers only. Any collector with half a brain shouldn’t buy this wax to chase.

Sapphire products are so blase now. I'm holding out for Gilded Collection. Biggest issue to be in the 700 card checklist. Box Value / Price just not there. I have MC membership, I skipped buying this product. I think Chrome Update Sapphire will be better (if not sticker auto).
