Yes, maybe Legris is perfect, but no one has that animal presence of Rudi. He is legend.

No wonder nureyev can do shenae turns so fast. They are in sixth position instead of first. I love it.
This video is not fair. It was made and edited to compare between dancers which to me is not fair. Every dancer is special and should be enjoyed that way. However, if this was a contest, Nureyev would win hands down because of the height of his jumps and speed of the turns - and because of these two aspects, you FEEL his masculine energy.
Comparison is not fair but contest mentality is... Every dancer is special but Nureyev "wins"... Perhaps you should take a hard look at yourself before lecturing others about fairness and implying motives for which you don't have any evidence.

Rudi in 1972 wasn't as good as Rudi in 1968... he was already starting to slip, but no one matches the excitement and energy he brought to the variation. And how I miss that reckless quality, the amount of space he covers in his manege. Lots of precise, technically top rate dancers around these days, but no one who makes your heart race the way Rudi did.

Legris does it for me, no mistakes, beautiful posture and exactly on music. A mix of elegance and flamboyance.
The POB costume works wonders for Hilaire and Legris, but not for Ganio. Bolle was technically very clean, but still too bland for me.

Para Nureyev creo que la mejor que hizo fue cuando llego a Francia en 1961. Y Bolle nunca lo he entendido, ya que tiene el gran físico para dar todo y simplemente no se explota en el escenario.

Legris for me. My only quibble with his variation is the position of the body in the air during the cabriole, but the others aren't better. Nureyev's speed in the manege is impressive, but the rest isn't :(

Another vote for Legris, with Nureyev and Bolle next. Nureyev's raw energy and technique is fantastic, but Bolle's clean, my-grandmother-would-love-it no-thrill but sweet performance fits the image I have of Prince Désiré (despite the decidedly weak sauce in the grand jeté en tournant last part). Hilaire and Ganio do not do anything for me here, too many approximations, everything looks difficult.

I don't like throwing in the double assemble that Legris, etc. It's unnecessary and ruins the style of the variation. Needless to say, Legris is the best of bunch. (subjective opinion I know).
Navarre Brixen Yes, but IMHO Roberto was the worst overall (amazing eye candy, tho), Rudi the best in this recording and Manuel Legris next after Rudi, so two out of five for the POB.

Navarre Brixen Having recently watched the Bolshoi recording with David Hallberg and Svetlana Zakharova, I wonder how you would rate Hallberg compared with the other five in the UA-cam compilation above.
