- The Beauty of Violence is an hommage to Lagerfeld's latest muse - French model Baptiste Giabiconi. We were at a photo shoot in Lagerfeld's Paris studio to find out why his latest protegé, 20-year-old Baptiste Giabiconi has become the world's best-paid male model.
All people who bash them are ignorants.
If you're not even oriented as to how Giabiconi was just a simple guy who did manual labor at AGE 15 to HELP his family & how he got discovered, or with regards to how Karl L. hs maintain 20 years of his illustrious career by staying off drugs, partying or using his influence to hook up with guys, den I think its pretty unfair to bash and accuse him of juz using Giabiconi as sex toy bcoz they both worked hard for their careers.

I don't pretend to know anything about fashion or couture other than it is a huge international business worth billions of pounds and employing huge numbers of people .Karl Lagerfeld is a major figure in that industry and has been for over 50 years .The male models like their female counterparts are professional people doing a job in a very competitive environment.

Look up KL bio it shows what KL looked like as a young man. He & YSL won a design award in different categories. YSL went in to work with Dior, until he took over as creative director when CD died unexpectedly. KL worked with Balmain and then Chloe until he took his now famous offer from the owner of Chanel. The rest is history.
Yes obviously he is meant to look like a young Karl and he indeed does. Karl was very good looking when young. Not as great looking as Baptiste but very similar features.
I hope the money Baptiste is making, he uses it to get an education. Modeling only lasts so long.
He appears musically talented. He's lucky to have had Lagerfeld as a mentor.
People with skills don't need a degree, just develop their skills.

2:17 Funny. I own The Beauty of Violence, it is very individual for Lagerfeld as a photographer, and a strange story exists around that book in my life, on beautiful paper. I am not sure what the images imply. I thought they were self portraits. Here he looks like The Emperor in Turandot, Nijinksi, etc... Giabiconi was really something. Lagerfeld was the first cologne I wore as a young child, thanks to my uncle. But, in the 7th grade, I bought a 20.00 bottle of Lagerfeld lotion; it was a pinkish color that someone stole out of my mother's house, but I loved the smell so much in the cold air. So, I must tell this story too about The Beauty of Violence.

What could he do about it? The value of the ring? Anybody could come into that office. Insurance companies always lose rings. Fifty thousand dollars is nothing unusual. Every day we both had to deal with the same stress, both of us. Around that time I discovered the model Baptiste Giabiconi and had ordered a black and white large book in which he had taken self portraits and enlarged and edited all the photos. I was always into fashion, but he had captured my imagination because he looked like a star friend of mine that I had seen in print and other media. He modeled too. If he’d only relax his rich curly hair, he’d be a twin brother almost, and to me equally alluring. He, my partner who was stressed about the ring didn’t know of the book. For some reason he had decided to cash in on some stocks and took 60,000 home and stashed it in the oven; worried over the lowering values and threatening market crash. The money had dropped already by 50K. Then all of a sudden, bright hellish lights fell from the sky and I was off to Morocco, and other shores were the opera tenors go to sing. This hell? Is it the money? Our lives had changed so quickly. After a while, about two days we experienced signs of peace, and the Giabiconi book came up. “Did the book arrive?” I asked. Book? Something did. Oh yes, its a big ol’ thing, and that was that. After a fine night of fresh fish a day later after we had decided nothing would bother us, especially after I had been followed by policemen, paranoid that we were being followed for money, we headed back home and found the house vandalized! Ah! …. The doors were open, the clothes and furnishings disheveled, and we searched and searched. “The money?” I asked, it’s all here, he said. Then all that’s gone is the Giabiconi book I bought. I had wrapped it in plastic wrap. “It’s gone, he asked. Yeah. Gone. “Well, maybe 60K isn’t’ enough to get all worried about. I turned and said, “and neither is a diamond ring then…… despite what they promise forever. I can just see them now sparkling even when the sun’s a red giant, and somewhere thereafter lost in space time.

Karl obviously cast Baptiste as a younger version of himself. He looks a lot like the young Karl Lagerfeld, only better and perfected. Many designers often choose models that look like themselves when young. Baptiste is a great, great beauty. How amazing that he has been given that chance so young to have Karl championing him and mentoring him. It must be amazing to be born so beautiful and just have the world given to you because of your DNA.
Karl has the most impeccable taste for models, male & female of any designer.
We can go back to Ines De La Fressange, Claudia Schiffer and later Brad Kroenig. He doesn't promote very many. I think few models, male & female truly understand his vision and can take direction from him and deliver.
