Training beginning steps of conformation show stacking

  • Georgette is 16 weeks old and headed to her first show this weekend. Guess we had better do some training on stacking for the show ring! Postive training using clicker reinforcement. Georgie has had one 5 minute session of standing still reinforcement training while I kneeled with her earlier in the day. She is the daughter of our Bronco and Perdita.

    I was told that poodles tails are docked. Is that true? The tail looks long to me

      Yes they’re usually docked, in America at least, it’s not as drastic of a dock as like a Doberman but it’s docked to keep the tail straight because curly tails are seen as undesirable

    Did you only just start at 16 weeks or did you start earlier

      Start as early as you can

      I did start stacking at that age, but she has learned a baby version of sit and wait since she was 6 weeks old. Since I raise them myself, I do have a leg up.
