I'm 3000 miles away cathal and my mouth is watering 😋. Fair play to granny she knows how to boil them. Great 👍 video as usual and hard to believe it's that time of year again.
Great video guys!! Very interesting!!! In Cork we love steam cooking our queens then eat skins on with cream and scalion onions on them 🤤😍 but why are queens harvested this way and not with your big tracked harvester……or later when bulk digging???
The two row harvester is a little more gentle on potatoes that don’t have a full skin finish and as we only dig to order we can leave it field, it just saves the big Grimme tracked machine for main crop to extend the life of the machine
great video lads the year doesn,t be long going around.I can recall cutting the stalks with an old Tarrup single chop forage harvester with the spout removed behind a Massey 65 mk1 No di-stoner in them days you had to keep your head down and hope for the best.Health and safety hadn,t been invented then.Spuds went straight from the field onto the late Sylvester Rabbitte,s lorries and off to Dublin
When Nanny Finnegan from Meath says "Yes" you know it's good 👍 😄 She's the "REAL BOSS " 😀 I be a skin on man to an certainly if they are baby spuds with black pepper and 🧈 😋 not forgetting the glass of cold milk.... Cathal and John B are even now on the " mishaps "

@@finnegansfarm9137 Thanks for that ....given the supermarket price for spuds I do hope you get a fair share of the final value....if not farmers should set up their own retail...spuds , cabbage , meat milk etc.

Great stuff! 👍👍
Why do you not harvest these with the big self propelled harvester?
The two row with elevator is a little more gentle on the potato as the skin is not set yet
Fair play to John b he knows his job. Spud’s are dairying of tillage 👍

A few weeks ago you mentioned that one of your machines had been stolen. Just wondering if it was located since?
No sign of it yet Michael spotted down Kilkenny way !
Ye making me hungry have to go buy some now... noting like new potatoes... ye may get John B to write is autobiography.. spuds look savage
John b could tell a few stories alright he loves the spuds 🥔
Great video. What time of year do you normally dig the early potatoes (queens)?how many varieties do you grow ? What jersey is that you have on ? 😜🤣
We dig queens at this stage and in another month start digging rooster and pinks
@@finnegansfarm9137 have you ever tried golden wonder ? Or maybe an earlier variety? Potatoes are always in short supply in may and June 😭
Miss that work I do
Have you found that since including this you tube channel that it has had any impact on your sales levels?
Definitely has helped our Finnegan branded products 👍
Top dinner
The only job James 👍
Great Video again do you export to England at all?
No it’s all for the Irish market paul
What rate of spray do you apply to the potatoes over the 110 days?
Just a weed spray pre emergence then a couple of preventive blight spray after that depends on the year
How many tonnes/acre would be a good yield ?
They should average between 10-12 tonne per acre Tom
@@finnegansfarm9137 Thanks for that ....given the supermarket price for spuds I do hope you get a fair share of the final value....if not farmers should set up their own retail...spuds , cabbage , meat milk etc.

Ah Peter you have to buy the Finnegans potatoes 🥔 much more tasty 🤣
Paul could learn to not interrupt his mother when she's speaking.
It’s usually the Other way around Aidan 🤣
Whats the idea of wind rowing?
It just opens up the field to let harvester and trailer work Eric
did j b ever right a play in his years digging spuds?
I think that his next venture Patrick 🤣
Paul I would get up twice in t middle of the night to Ate them, balls of flour. I'm sending the wife to Dunnes in the morning.
