There's a lot of interesting stuff here. I guess that the developers were worried about too much dialogue involving Chief, but a lot of awkward moments in the story would have made more sense with portions of the cut dialogue. 14:25 Man. This line should've been included. It would've set up the tension between the "new" UNSC and the Chief nicely, and given more context for Del Rio's hostility toward him.
Its more of Chief & Cortana feeling unnease at the spartan 4's existence, regardless, it shouldve stayed in, it makes the "they dont care about you, they replaced you!" Line in Reclaimer make more sense
"Just once I wish you'd take me somewhere nice..." _Nearly five years earlier._ "You always bring me to such nice places." Chief: "Am I a joke to you?"
@@ghosterino I think they're working on it, especially for PC. But they've already added a cut skull for Halo3 - no reason they can't do the same here.
I think it is impossible. Most of these sound files don't have proper names or links in soundbank packs, so it will require huge modding. But it could be fun.
I can understand why some of this was cut; it would have been a little annoying having a chattier Cortana, but there's so much legitimately good character interaction between Chief and Cortana that's sad to see be cut from the final game.
I can understand why SOME of this dialogue was cut, key word being some, due to it being cheesy or too hand hold-y. But man, a lot of this dialogue would’ve helped with stuff like world building on Requiem and strengthening Chief’s and Cortana’s relationship. AND THE MARINE AND SPARTAN IV DIALOGUE ON INFINITY, GOD DAMN WHY WAS THAT CUT?! Bro, writers even gave Sgt. fricken Stacker some extended screen time, who in their right fucking mind would cut that out?!
I’ve recently started re-reading the Halo books and ones that I missed. Seeing these restored lines actually makes me think and see the John-117 we read in the books. Particularly in Eric Nylund’s First Strike and the Troy Denning stories. I love this version of Chief. Practical, realistic, can crack an attempt at sarcasm, human. I’d love to see more dialogue and interaction Chief has in-game. I think this version also tells Halo 4’s story a lot better. It’s a shame seeing the depth it was trying to go for but had to get cut. I’d love to know why so much was cut
I already enjoyed Halo 4 ‘s campaign, but all of this cut content would’ve made the experience far more worthwhile. Even if some of lines were expository they still offered a lot to the overall story. Especially all the lines involving Cortana, so much more development was given towards her Rampancy. Even building onto the Rampant Clone we saw in Halo 5, as controversial as that plot involving that variation of Cortana was.
Lines that made me laugh aloud: "Besides, maybe I didn't want you talking my ear off for four years!" "Because bad guys weren't bad enough without giving birth to each other?" "We can't go directly to the second pylon, but I've instructed the portal network to route us back through the central hub. Or at least, I think that's what I told it" "The enemy of my enemy?" "They're ALL our enemy" "I didn't think I believed in ghosts..."" "Yeah well if this means I'm dead, my wife is gonna kill me!" "Dorothy says wrong answer, tin man!" "Just how you like them: big, ugly, and overflowing with machine guns and rocket launchers" "Jeez, I know you're all superman and stuff, but c'mon!" "Maybe if you ask nicely, these covenant will just get out of the way!" "Maybe the great and powerful didact shouldn't misplace his things!" "I used to love watching you sleep..."
Some of these cut dialogues actually improve many parts of H4. My favorite is the one which involve the Marines reacting to Chief's return. By the way, I'm making a cinematic retelling of the Halo series and, though I'm currently on Halo 3, I wish to use some of these cut dialogs to enhance the story. Of course, if you give me your permission to use them. I will credit you in the video too!
@@ozzyosbourne450 Hello it's me again! I just wanted to let you know that I'm releasing the next part of that cinematic retelling I told you. If you want to see how it turned out, I'll leave the link here. I used some of your cut dialogues mainly during Composer and at the start of Requiem. ua-cam.com/video/J5yUX_DTu0M/v-deo.html
Some of the more interesting cut dialogue: Dawn: 0:22 I understand why this was cut (most players would sprint through this section and the dialogue wouldn't match up), but Chief noting that they probably won't be rescued followed by Cortana getting cut off by the scanner really helps set the mood a lot better. I'd have played the line a little earlier and/or cut Chief's first line to make room for it. 1:52 Ah, so that's why Chief's line felt so out of place... then again, it only reinforces how the game doesn't bother to explain who the hell these new Covenant are, so I still think it would have been best to cut both lines out. 2:37 Alright, that NEEDED to be in game. Really adds some of that old Cortana sass that this game lacks. 3:10 The in-game version works fine, I guess, but there's something about these variations that I like more (especially the "somewhere nice" callback). Requiem: 4:39 Hm, I guess dropships would have come in if the player took too long. Interesting idea, but understandable why it was cut. 4:48 Interesting observation on the characters' part, but any dialogue here would likely ruined the serene vibe of the scene we got in the final version (one of the only memorable moments of ambience we got from this game). 5:14 Again, this NEEDED to be in the game - this whole exposition monologue from Cortana really needed some input from Chief, and plus we get some more good Cortana sass (I busted out laughing at "maybe I didn't want you talking my ears off for four years", totally something she'd say). Maybe make these difficulty dependent so we could have multiple possibilities? 6:10 Another cut gameplay segment? Not really sure what purpose this would've served, and it seems the developers didn't either. 6:54 Um... not sure what the hell was supposed to be happening here. Forerunner: 7:49 Again, I get that players would probably move too fast to get through the whole conversation, but I wish they at least kept Chief's quip in. 9:20 Very surprised they cut that quip; that was pretty much my reaction when I tried that. 9:50 Adds a little more context to why Cortana only glitches out here during this whole section. Plus, Chief's response ("Who said I was worried?") is both amusing on a first playthrough and heartbreaking later on. 10:35 I'm not exactly sure what Cortana is referring to, so maybe that's why it was cut, but it's still a fun exchange nonetheless (Plus it once again goes on a little too long). 11:06 An actual badass line delivery from Chief? In Halo 4? A rare find, indeed! 11:12 A little bit of context for who the new Covenant are and what they're after on Requiem. It goes on a little too long and might disrupt the combat, but I wish they kept this given that it's still better than the non-explanation the final game provided. 12:08 Understandable why this was cut, but Chief's line delivery ("CORTANA...") still kills me every time. Man is already fed up with this whole mess. Infinity: 14:16 A more subtle line than the in-game one. Leave the personal grudges for later, now is not the time! 14:28 A lot of the marine dialogue here is sorely needed; really helps show how the legend of the Master Chief has grown since his disappearance. 14:58 That's my boy, Stacker! Yes, he does make an appearance in the next mission in the final game, but this would have been a way better introduction. Almost feels like Halo 3 again for a moment... 15:40 More lowkey marine dialogue, but frankly ANY interaction with marines is in low supply in this game. 16:09 I like this line delivery more than the final game. 16:46 I mean... yeah, that probably is how he likes it. Reclaimer: 17:42 Not sure how I feel about this one... I guess it probably would have fit SOMEWHERE on this mission, but I don't know about right at the start. 18:50 This whole entire plot point made no god damn sense to me, even in the final game... "Too close to target"? WTF? I'd just not give a reason for why we need a target designator and hope that players wouldn't question having to retrieve it - giving nonsensical reasons for stupid gameplay objectives doesn't help, it just makes it even stupider. 21:3321:58 Yes, more of THIS, please. If the game wants to indulge in building up these two (formerly blank-slate) characters, then fucking DO IT. Don't sacrifice what made Halo iconic just to do your character-building halfway. 23:42 Again, not sure what this is referring to, but Chief's delivery is fucking sending me! 23:47 I really like this extended interaction - Chief doesn't seem bothered by this change at all, given the crazy shit his body has been through, while Cortana is extremely upset. Ironic that the mental clone of Halsey is the one who's upset about nonconsensual augmentations... really shows how she's truly evolved into her own person over the years. Shutdown: 24:59 You and me both, buddy. 343 did NOT balance the enemies in this game very well. 25:20 Many of these launch sequence lines could easily been fitted in. 28:0829:1030:01 In general, these cut Didact lines should have stayed in the game. Really shows off him to be the powerful warrior-aristocrat he's portrayed as in the books, trying to do what he thinks is best for the wider galaxy. 31:33 A cut leapfrog jump-pack scenario? Interesting... Composer: 32:34 Kinda annoying, so understandable why these were cut, but they do give off some serious Half Life 1 vibes. 33:41 Ha, that'd have been depressingly funny. 34:22 Uh... no I don't trust you, not after that. 34:58 Didact gives some begrudging respect to Chief... nice. 36:06 More interactions with scientists, though I do actually like these ones. 36:2636:3336:58 Again, more of this. Really shows Cortana is not just losing control, but is now starting to go off the deep end. 37:13 Just... yep, this extra line should been in game. 38:07 Ha, that's a funny connection ("He (the Didact) doesn't want us anymore, either") 38:50 Dread it, run from it... destiny always arrives. Midnight: 39:3740:2544:26 More interesting cut Didact dialogue 39:4743:5444:24 Wow, this would have done a much better job at setting up Cortana's Plan in Halo 5... for what little good that would do 41:21 Oh no, now she has dementia 43:25 Now Cortana's getting fed up too (plus that delivery is funny af with the voice filter) 43:37 One last calm moment with Cortana... really hits home that they both know that Cortana (and probably Chief at this point) isn't going home, even if they try to hide it. 44:45 Some of these lines are pretty damn chilling... just goes to show the contradicting thoughts human minds tend to have. 45:44 Uh, you loved WHAT, Cortana? Why did I spend two hours writing this?
These unused pieces of dialogue would have not only made the story for Halo 5 (at least Cortana) make more sense but it is more of a gut punch. You can tell even more that Cortana really did care about Chief and not only that but it ties everything together. I feel like Halo 4 needed this and 343 half dipping was a mistake. It’s nice to see the obvious references or at least inspiration this story took from Marathon. There’s a terminal where the security officer who’s supposed to be like a different incarnation of master chief has a memory of a mysterious female character AI. It’s also heartbreaking seeing Cortana trying so hard to get through to Chief on how humanity would throw him away once he isn’t needed. It makes it that much sadder when she says it isn’t fair and how she would never leave him. It adds more layers when you realize that they’re parallels to the Librarian and the Didact. Idk I just get excited thinking about this mostly due to Marathon. I hope infinite takes more inspiration from Marathon as well.
343i were scared I think because it was their first halo game, didn't want to make too much dialogue. Should have done what they wanted and not chase trends
4:49... THIS, THIS RIGHT HERE, this could've done SO MUCH for the whole game. *Master Chief talk way more in here, but it feels right for the most part. 343 cut out a lot of very good lines and I genuinely smiled at most of it.
I guess they wanted to have the reveal of the structures to be more awe-inspiring as it's silent with that amazing music, and it really does work well. But I do feel they could've kept some of these lines in.
i wish some of this dialogue was there. The part where John and Cortana talk about the new fanatical covenant, that should've been there in order to justify the new cove design and behaviour.
Damn, they should've kept the marine dialogue at suddenly seeing Chief. It really shows his reputation, even with the new generation of Spartans, he's still THE Spartan.
Its unfortunate to see almost an hour of dialogue was cut from the game. I think a lot of the dialogue could have been kept in for more impact, but some of Cortana’s lines regarding the Prometheans were very “Borderlands-y” if that makes any sense so it makes sense why they cut those out lol
“Well if I’m dead, my wife is gonna kill me”. I never noticed they didn’t have marine react to chief suddenly reappearing, man they need to add some of this back in on the mcc version.
That line in Requium would have been a good way to acknowledge the more lively and different architecture that 4 had. “Seem like this planet is more lively than the Halos.” And “I suppose not all Forunner architecture is the same.”
i’m glad they cut the “watching u sleep” lines, but i like the sentiment behind them. it sounds like cortana is- despite the hardship and mortal danger they both continuously faced throughout their time together- overall immensely appreciative to have spent her career with chief and wouldn’t have traded her life for any other. i may be reading too much into it... but they’re nice words to part with. just phrased weirdly and a bit out of place lol
Cortana's cut dialogue is so informative. People wouldn't have complained about not knowing what the story was if they'd just left most of these lines in the game. She summarizes almost all of the external lore in a very "Cortana" way, or at least gives you an idea what's going on.
343 needs to make this a patch for an extra dialogue option for MCC...of course it won't happen but damn, so much of this is awesome (mostly the stuff related to Cortana's decline)
a lot of these lines are good but I'm honestly glad a few of them are cut. i prefer not having an explanation for the didact voice that cortana can't hear because a valid explanation is that the chief has a geas of the didact that is trying to become active. retroactively explains a whole lot
It's funny hearing so much dialogue in a Halo game. Some of these lines seem a bit like filler, but others really set up Cortana's full descent into Rampancy and the beginning of her Queen of the Galaxy arc. She wants the Composer, sure, but some of these lines make you wonder what her actual *plans* for it were. I think it may be possible to add some of these back in with mods, but I think that some of them might be a bit much. Like with any recorded dialogue, I think it's better to keep some over others. That being said, I'm impressed that there was variant dialogue. Were those always in Halo?
Some form of variance that is notable is Halo 3's opening, with Johnson's response to the arbiter being effected by difficulty and the IWHBYD Skull, same with Halo 2 & Johnson, with his speech to the marines to motivate them.
27:10 I just knew that this mission was originally planned to have more to it. This mention of back up and smaller defense spires where in the level they're is basically only a few and they have nothing on them. This implies that this level had more to the flying segment than just shooting phantoms that were swarming around the main spires. Something happened in development to trim this level down, either they couldn't make it work well like alexandria did in reach, or they were pressed for time or both. If you had marines to transport with your pelican for instance it could be a neat optional objective along with smaller towers having banshees or turrets or watchers around them etc. Or if they had used the pelican to transport a warthog or mongoose from one location to another etc. The pelican was really underused and lack luster in this level and I think it's probably one of the more disappointing gameplay moments to finally have a pelican to fly and functionally you're just hovering a bit and shooting targets before landing and that's it.
While I understand why certain "too much telling, not enough showing" bits were left out, I feel like the dialogue between Cortana and chief would've greatly added to 343's overall objective with their newer games: explore the master chief and the forerunners. Her rampancy would've been a great excuse to make her more talkative. Also very sad that the bit with the sentinels got cut.
I like a lot of these. Some are a bit iffy, but if some of these were included it would have added a bit of much needed banter and characterisation to Chief and Cortana, as well as the marines who are incredibly soulless in 4 and 5.
Wow! It’s truly amazing just how much was cut. If they had included a bunch of this stuff we would have had context, making the story not seem like a terrible slapped together mess. If only they had waited and made this an Xbox One launch title then they wouldn’t have had to cut corners with ai, explosions, terminals not working, and more. Looking at what else was cut, and if they had play tested this to make the experience actually fun then we could have had a truly amazing game. Is there any news on if there’s a Halo 4 restoration project to bring back cut content that adds more variety/context to the game? They could even fix the broken ai, balance the weapons, and change some segments of the levels to make them more expensive and less linear. I hope that someday we will get the build of the game where the Prometheans actually looked like bipedal Sentinels.
Can't believe i just found this, SO much of this dialogue would've added ALOT to the atmosphere and story, some of it is a bit heavy handed so I get it, but wow. I never would've thought about this much dialogue not being in the game..
I'm not sure but I think the reason why all of this was cut was because 343 was afraid that gamers would complain about "too much talking". I'm don't see any other reason why they'd remove so many of these.
"If the UNSC hasn't responded to our rescue beacon by now, they're not going to." I really think they should've kept this in. I know why they cut it, but it shows John being realistic about the situation.
I think they remove most of the Chief dialogue to make him look more like "a machine"

Its more of Chief & Cortana feeling unnease at the spartan 4's existence, regardless, it shouldve stayed in, it makes the "they dont care about you, they replaced you!" Line in Reclaimer make more sense
that one's a great one
“I wish, just ONCE, you’d take me somewhere nice!”
Cortana in halo 2: “You always take me to such nice places.”
"Just once I wish you'd take me somewhere nice..."
_Nearly five years earlier._
"You always bring me to such nice places."
Chief: "Am I a joke to you?"
@Thunder Life Gotta love boomer humour...
Oh wait, no I don't actually.
Maaaan these really spice up the game.
44:05 hit me like a *truck.* Thank you so much for uploading this, these are absolutely amazing :)
It'd be pretty neat if they added a skull in the MCC to use most of this cut dialogue in Halo 4.
Wait when they will add mod support
@@ghosterino I think they're working on it, especially for PC. But they've already added a cut skull for Halo3 - no reason they can't do the same here.
I think it is impossible. Most of these sound files don't have proper names or links in soundbank packs, so it will require huge modding. But it could be fun.
I can understand why some of this was cut; it would have been a little annoying having a chattier Cortana, but there's so much legitimately good character interaction between Chief and Cortana that's sad to see be cut from the final game.
They should have stuck to their guns. If they didn't half ass the chief cortana interaction it would have been better
They really should've kept some of the Didact's lines. I always felt we never heard much of him in the original game.
We didn’t get enough of Didact to begin with plus that was stupid of 343 to kill him in a comic and not a boss fight
A lot of this would have worked out nicely if used in the final game.
Having played the MCC PC version of Halo 4, I am certain I've heard the "they don't care about you--they replaced you!" line in the game.
Yeah, you could heard it during mission Reclaimer. But on Midnight it have several different versions, which i included.
All that good dialogue cut, but they kept in Chief saying "I thought we had a truce with the Covenant?"
This, and not sidelining Chief so drastically would've helped 5
Lines that made me laugh aloud:
"Besides, maybe I didn't want you talking my ear off for four years!"
"Because bad guys weren't bad enough without giving birth to each other?"
"We can't go directly to the second pylon, but I've instructed the portal network to route us back through the central hub. Or at least, I think that's what I told it"
"The enemy of my enemy?" "They're ALL our enemy"
"I didn't think I believed in ghosts...""
"Yeah well if this means I'm dead, my wife is gonna kill me!"
"Dorothy says wrong answer, tin man!"
"Just how you like them: big, ugly, and overflowing with machine guns and rocket launchers"
"Jeez, I know you're all superman and stuff, but c'mon!"
"Maybe if you ask nicely, these covenant will just get out of the way!"
"Maybe the great and powerful didact shouldn't misplace his things!"
"I used to love watching you sleep..."
"I'll work on it" goddamnit....
With a hour cut of dialogue of halo 4. Now halo 5 makes sense
Sure
@@ozzyosbourne450 Awesome then! What name should I credit you with? Ozzy Osbourne? Or do you have another username?
@@StarWarsJibaro you could use this, yes
@@ozzyosbourne450 Alright. Alright. Thank you, my dude. I will let you know when that part comes out!
Some of the more interesting cut dialogue:
Dawn:
0:22 I understand why this was cut (most players would sprint through this section and the dialogue wouldn't match up), but Chief noting that they probably won't be rescued followed by Cortana getting cut off by the scanner really helps set the mood a lot better.
Requiem:
4:39 Hm, I guess dropships would have come in if the player took too long.
Forerunner:
7:49 Again, I get that players would probably move too fast to get through the whole conversation, but I wish they at least kept Chief's quip in.
Infinity:
14:16 A more subtle line than the in-game one.
Reclaimer:
17:42 Not sure how I feel about this one...
21:33 21:58 Yes, more of THIS, please.
Shutdown:
24:59 You and me both, buddy. 343 did NOT balance the enemies in this game very well.
25:20 Many of these launch sequence lines could easily been fitted in.
28:08 29:10 30:01 In general, these cut Didact lines should have stayed in the game. Really shows off him to be the powerful warrior-aristocrat he's portrayed as in the books, trying to do what he thinks is best for the wider galaxy.
31:33 A cut leapfrog jump-pack scenario? Interesting...
Composer:
32:34 Kinda annoying, so understandable why these were cut, but they do give off some serious Half Life 1 vibes.
33:41 Ha, that'd have been depressingly funny.
34:22 Uh... no I don't trust you, not after that.
34:58 Didact gives some begrudging respect to Chief... nice.
36:06 More interactions with scientists, though I do actually like these ones.
36:26 36:33 36:58 Again, more of this. Really shows Cortana is not just losing control, but is now starting to go off the deep end.
37:13 Just... yep, this extra line should been in game.
38:07 Ha, that's a funny connection ("He (the Didact) doesn't want us anymore, either")
38:50 Dread it, run from it... destiny always arrives.
Midnight:
39:37 40:25 44:26 More interesting cut Didact dialogue
39:47 43:54 44:24 Wow, this would have done a much better job at setting up Cortana's Plan in Halo 5... for what little good that would do
41:21 Oh no, now she has dementia
43:25 Now Cortana's getting fed up too (plus that delivery is funny af with the voice filter)
43:37 One last calm moment with Cortana... really hits home that they both know that Cortana (and probably Chief at this point) isn't going home, even if they try to hide it.
44:45 Some of these lines are pretty damn chilling... just goes to show the contradicting thoughts human minds tend to have.
45:44 Uh, you loved WHAT, Cortana?
Why did I spend two hours writing this?
11:07 Heavy Metal Intensifies
_WARNING: THE CHIEF HAS ENTERED THE FACILITY_
Loading shotgun with malicious intent
So much of this should’ve been kept
That dialogue from the Marines was the dialogue i NEEDED when he first encountered the crew of the Infinity. Damn shame they cut it.
3:04 "You'll have to run to make it"
Calmly walks and jumps.
So much of this adds context to a lot of stuff I didn't understand in Halo 4.
Now I know why halo 4 was so jarring in the dialogue. So much of it was cut
No kidding. I could do with the constant commanding Cortana but the stuff related to her state definitely hits hard
2:42 is the most Cortana thing I've ever heard.
Admittedly a handful of MCU tier quip lines but mostly solid stuff that brought the same tone of the "bet you can't stick it" moment from way back.
It feels like they cut out most of the banter between chief and cortana. It would have been good if some of it was kept.
The last lines of cut dialogue actually made me cry a little
I love the dialogue with the Marines reacting to Chief being alive
"Gone, or left behind?" That hit me a little :(
5:24 You can stop now, thank you
i wish some of this dialogue was there. The part where John and Cortana talk about the new fanatical covenant, that should've been there in order to justify the new cove design and behaviour.
41:16 It's not on the subtitles, but Cortana whispers, "I will always take care of you."
Damn, they should've kept the marine dialogue at suddenly seeing Chief.
It really shows his reputation, even with the new generation of Spartans, he's still THE Spartan.
11:07 ohhh, they didn't have to remove that dialogue :(
Something about walking around with 4/32 ammo and not reloading gives me anxiety
A big chunk of the cut dialogue in the "Composer" mission really gave off the vibe that all of those people were going to end up dying.
God these really made the game better. Did 343 WANT to darken the atmosphere so much that it felt soulless?
Maybe?
“Well if I’m dead, my wife is gonna kill me”. I never noticed they didn’t have marine react to chief suddenly reappearing, man they need to add some of this back in on the mcc version.
Damn I wish they kept the lines of the marines in awe of the presumed dead Master Chief. We never really got that in game.
That line in Requium would have been a good way to acknowledge the more lively and different architecture that 4 had. “Seem like this planet is more lively than the Halos.” And “I suppose not all Forunner architecture is the same.”
Someone needs to make a Halo 4 Uncut
i’m glad they cut the “watching u sleep” lines, but i like the sentiment behind them. it sounds like cortana is- despite the hardship and mortal danger they both continuously faced throughout their time together- overall immensely appreciative to have spent her career with chief and wouldn’t have traded her life for any other. i may be reading too much into it... but they’re nice words to part with. just phrased weirdly and a bit out of place lol
Cortana's cut dialogue is so informative. People wouldn't have complained about not knowing what the story was if they'd just left most of these lines in the game. She summarizes almost all of the external lore in a very "Cortana" way, or at least gives you an idea what's going on.
343 needs to make this a patch for an extra dialogue option for MCC...of course it won't happen but damn, so much of this is awesome (mostly the stuff related to Cortana's decline)
i love halo 4s campaign story, listening to this made me appreciate the world more
A lot of this dialogue should’ve been left in, it would’ve explained a lot about the game
a lot of these lines are good but I'm honestly glad a few of them are cut. i prefer not having an explanation for the didact voice that cortana can't hear because a valid explanation is that the chief has a geas of the didact that is trying to become active. retroactively explains a whole lot
18:25 sounds like Kenny, from a freaking fisherman to a Marine. Bloody Legend.
cortana threatening chief with a jet pack malfunction was gold
36:20 bro chief you good wtf was wrong with that line
Huh. Enemy sentinels in halo 4. Would have done wonders for enemy variety.
Holly shit dude this dialog would of made 4 even better. I FEKN LOVE IT!
The cut dialogue for chief is just a masterpiece.
It gives them a little more character.
Now the game makes sense
While I understand why certain "too much telling, not enough showing" bits were left out, I feel like the dialogue between Cortana and chief would've greatly added to 343's overall objective with their newer games: explore the master chief and the forerunners.
Her rampancy would've been a great excuse to make her more talkative. Also very sad that the bit with the sentinels got cut.
45:25
“No… there’s not.”
-Martin Walker
I like a lot of these. Some are a bit iffy, but if some of these were included it would have added a bit of much needed banter and characterisation to Chief and Cortana, as well as the marines who are incredibly soulless in 4 and 5.
I dont think anyone talked about this but the moment after 14:28 is momentous.
Her yelling at Chief for standing still like his train of thought has tabbed out is so funny
Cortana having rampancy moments during afk dialogue is really good
Fun fact. On the elevator part Cortana sometimes says because some parts of the ship has torn apart
Should've left in, "They play catch too?"
Man I don't think any of this should have been cut.
Cortana: "I loved watching you sleep."
Okay maybe that one deserved the cut.
Chief spoke more in this mission than the first 3 games combined
Honestly I like this cut version of chief and cortania
They're moving to attack position! Chief! Activate your trap card!
I like how the bulk of the cut dialogue in the first mission is Cortana telling the player to stop standing around with their thumb up their ass
I might be late, but...
"Your fan club is back" is pretty funny
Nop...
“Oh, Dorothy says wrong answer, Tin Man!” lol Stacker is great
Can't believe i just found this, SO much of this dialogue would've added ALOT to the atmosphere and story, some of it is a bit heavy handed so I get it, but wow. I never would've thought about this much dialogue not being in the game..
if they do put the last two dialogues of this video in the game i swear i would've cried............harder...
I'm not sure but I think the reason why all of this was cut was because 343 was afraid that gamers would complain about "too much talking". I'm don't see any other reason why they'd remove so many of these.
Most of the Cortana lines feel like Halo to me
Someone will mod most of these back in you just wait.
The one thing I really wasn't expecting was to hear Sgt. Stacker. That dialogue suggests he would've been alongside us. I wish he stayed in!
IIRC he’s actually still in the final game, but only during the tank section on Reclaimer where you can barely hear him over radio
