VIVE VS OCULUS, which is the better HMD. An argument had since the inception of VR. I wonder if maybe neither headset is the true best VR headset... maybe they're one in the same.

Some of the information in this video is dated. No doubt tracking for the Vive is better, but the Rift comes with Touch controllers bundled together, two sensors and tracks a lot better than demonstrated by that guy in his garage. It also comes bundled with a suite of free games too.

This guy is just bullshiting people into buying vive.

Also the guy in the garage had sunlight coming in, which ruins the tracking which is infrared if I remember correctly and also had a lot of very reflective surfaces, not reading the readme.txt files and/or the manual

The oculus room scale is perfectly fine

I got a VIVE as my first PCVR, there have been a lot of technical problems but it is more expandable than the Rift.

TLDR: Video has facts wrong and I state my opinion on the whole vive vs rift thing.
Before you read on: If you're looking to get into vr and are wondering what headset is best for you then look at another video as this one is outdated. Since this video was published then multiple vr headsets have been released that target entree level, intermediate gaming, and high end vr gaming needs.
0:30 - This is wrong, oculus supports front facing roomscale out of the box. Like that video of the dude trying to make the big room scale; a 60$ 3rd addition sensor can get you 360 roomscale just like the vive. He struggled a lot for his setup because he was trying this out early on , since then oculus has update their large room scale capabilities and can easily match and surpass vive's tracking with additional sensors. This info was all out and current many many months before this video was published. Vive still is better in very large room scale but unless you have a space setup in a garage like this dude then you won't cap out on oculus's tracking.
2:38 - If we want to split hairs here: The rift has a slightly better image quality due to the lens. You can do a lens mod to your vive to make it on par with the rift's though. Also the vive has a slightly higher fov than the rift by a few degrees. Once again just splitting hairs over it :)
3:23 and 4:10 - The oculus has been bundling the controllers and 2 sensors with the hmd for almost 3 years now. And the recent price drop (which was $400 and dropped to $350 a month after the video dropped) So a Rift with 3 sensor roomscale is $450 of the time of this video or $350 currently.
3:89 - Once again vive can get lens swap with a wmr headset's lens. There are many tutorials online.
5:30 - A rift with a proper 4 sensor setup is on par (usually better) than a vive setup.
Since Vrtual stated at the end that the oculus is for entree level vr users and that the vive is for the more advance ones, which i don't necessarily agree with then feel free to read my conclusion.
My Conclusion: If you don't mind the shit controllers and want easy sensor setup without having 4 cables run to your pc/leg trackers/wireless/or the resolution of the vive pro without just waiting for the index to come out (which wasn't announced at the time of this video's release) then get a vive. But if you don't plan on getting this or simply don't have the funds to do so, then get a rift with a 3rd sensor.
I know this may sound like I'm just an oculus fan boy but i really am not. I'm just stating the facts here. It's also worth a mention that the future of the rift doesn't have anything. There aren't going to be any plans for addons to it. You won't get leg trackers or a better hmd that uses the same tracking. What you buy is all that you can get for it. The vive's lighthouses and wands are nearly future proof. Any new hmd that comes out that supports steamvr tracking can use the same lighthouses and controllers effectively saving you money in the long run.

but well the vive lets you jump around your room like an asshole, the oculus you have to stand there like a panzy

If you see this comment, vive is most likely a dumpster fire, go (try) getting a quest if you want vr and if you have a pc? Get a quest, by virtual desktop or get alvr free and stream the games to your computer. If you have a lot of money to spend and are fine with long wait times and your stuff breaking

You are bullshiting your subscribers. I had oculus for half of the year. It has perfect roomscale. I didn't need to get my pc on the ceiling lmao. Resolution is the same but oculus one looks better (i had classic vive back then). Oculus comes with controllers and 2 sensors. I had my whole set for 353 bucks plus bought third sensor for 50 bucks. And you know what? Classic vive is heavy as fuck. And his "controllers" feel like icecream cons or dildoes. Oculus ones feel much much better.

I first tried out vr on vive in dreamhack, absolutely loved it, but I said no because it was fucking 700€ back then and I thought that it was definetly not worth it. After a year I bought oculus and the next time I went to dreamhack I tried vive and absolutely hated it, the controllers were so uncomfortable because you need to hold them so delicately compared to the oculus controllers
