Yes it is hard but if you compare it to likes of interceptor or hunter...it is way better. And it is hard to beat the sheer value it offers. Have a long test drive and then decide for yourself.

But one thing that SM650 have succeeded to accomplish is that even those people who never have had any 2 Wheeler in their life are buying it. This bike has struck the right chord in hearts of all the fanboys who dreamt of having a cruiser bike but never found a quality product in affordable price (relatively). A company who manufactured a gem of bike .. after almost 6 months of launch .. still not able to provide the smallest accessories and basic accessories to this bike …
Got my Super Meteor 10 days back, still not able to get many OG accessories yet. The touring screen is a joke, it is not clear at all, the view from the windshield will be like from a 50 rupee glass, and even with an extender windshield, you will face the wind on your shoulder or helmet. Foot pegs are small for big riders, and big footpegs accessories are not available (many people in Mysore City are waiting for 3-4 months). The touring seat is not available yet (need to wait for 8-10 months for the Celestial model). Showroom people do not have a clue when people will get accessories or delivery of a new vehicle. The bike is a beast, with awesome power with good highway mileage of around 26-28 km, but without a touring seat and some other accessories, you will feel something is left out from the ride. If you use inbuilt navigation make sure you reconnect after switching off your bike
Yes the accessories availability is an issue..but the beauty of RE is that there is no shortage of dealers. You can try with different dealers for availability of accessories
@@RCube_Raman I have tried calling multiple dealers from Bangalore, Mandya, and surrounding city dealers, but no luck, either they sent them back or waiting for a bakra who can get it by paying them more
back. side look nice front looks like ct100 thy hv cheaped out on all black fork handle.. look at grey headlight clamp soo cheap. indicators also not classic
It is actually an Oil cooled engine and it is designed this way to keep things simple. And it works well too. For reference, The oil cooled 650cc RE engine in SM650 performs much better (in terms of engine heat management) compared to the Liquid cooled 750cc mill in its closest rival, the HD Street 750.
The bike can easily tackle normal rough roads and speed breakers. I have tried going over large speed breaker (The ones at railway crossings) at the speed of 40 kmph without slowing down and the bike did not touch anywhere. You just need to go slow as the rear suspension is a bit hard...otherwise no issues.
During the shoot of this video I travelled as a pillion on both Interceptor and Super Meteor 650 (with the Touring seat). With all due respect to Interceptor owners, I will anyday choose to be a pillion on Super Meteor 650. The Rear shocks on Interceptor kick really hard and throws the pillion up if the speed is not in check. The touring seat on the SM650 was much more comfortable
Hi Vikas, I got to know that you are the owner of Astral blue (with the touring seat) in the video. I had a question, did you had your name embossed on the tank (similar to meteor 350), because you purchased the touring seat?
Ground clearance 150mm as per spec sheet but neeche nahi lagti single rider pe kyunki suspension stiff de rakhe hai RE ne. Before buying any bike, Test drive zaroor lena after all it is your hard earned money
Technically, If any exhaust is making sound higher than the specified limit, it can be challaned. Typically, the police don't always have the equipment needed to measure it so they tend to challan any exhaust other than the original. But they normally don't interrupt anyone if they are driving sanely and not like hooligan.
Hi sir, 1 common concern I see with Meteor 650 is that the side stand is way too close to the silencer, which leave shoe burn marks. As there is a side stand extender for the foot, there isn’t any form of extended for the heel push near the silencer? I hate to have even a sing ugly looking thing happening on a super bike. Please help me find a solution to this and I'm also working to build 1 myself, if I'm satisfied with the build I'll surely let everyone know.
I can understand your pain... spoiling both your shoes and bike is heartbreaking...I have seen someone install a small heat shield in that area to stop this from happening
Turning radius is large as it is a cruiser. But the feedback from Mr. Aman (2nd last bike) after installing the cruising style handlebar (raised and pulled back towards rider) is that it has improved the turning radius as the handle can turn more and is not confined by the width of the tank due to increased height of handlebar.
@@RCube_Raman Thank you for the quick response. Any details available on exhaust? its after market but still anything similar will help to find me here in Pune. thanks again 👍
I didn't notice the name embossed on the tank. I think that is also optional when you customize the bike through the make it yours platform. For exact information regarding this, there is a comment on this video from Vikas Chopra who is the owner of the astral blue bike in the video. You can post your question as a reply to his comment and i am sure he will be happy to answer
Yes the rear suspension is hard but the problem is that in a Cruiser bike format, the ground clearance is kept low in order to keep the centre of gravity low, which is a must for such heavy bikes. And if softer suspension is used, then the bike will easily bottom out on Indian Roads
That is one of toughest question to answer, specially when it comes to choosing RE bikes..there are so much options that selecting a bike is easier than selecting the color. For SM650, darker colors like astral black and interstellar green suit the bike more as you will be able to see in the shots in this video. I have an interceptor 650 and the rear shock absorber sucks....it's pathetic. It's almost like riding a bicycle. Bad shock absorber is simply a pathetic job by RE....seems like this is also their biggest weakness which they want to live with.
While shooting for this ride, I went from Chandigarh as a pillion on the Interceptor and came back riding as a pillion on Super Meteor. And I can say it with 100% surety that Pillion comfort on the Super Meteor 650 is much much better than Interceptor. Yes they could have been tuned softer in the Super Meteor. But in that case, due to low ground clearance in the cruiser format, the bike would then bottom out even over mild speed breakers as well which it currently handles fairly decently. In case of Interceptor, which do not have ground clearance limitations like SM650, Surely there is a lot of room for improvement in regards to the rear shocks. They kick really hard.
I agree with you on the Interceptor 650's suspension. It could have been tuned better. I have a GT single seat on my bike so I feel everything the rear wheel does! The front suspension is too soft and doesn't provide enough feedback.
It is designed to enhance the aesthetics of the bike and good enough for short rides only. But the Touring seat is a blessing if you intend to ride 2 up for long rides.
Mostly due to color preferences...celestial comes in red and blue option. But the bike looks best with darker shades like astral black and interstellar green
