BOATING in the wrong clothes! | An uncomfortable CANAL cruise [Ep 111]

- I cruise down canal locks so I can moor my Narrowboat next to my camper van as my little rescue dog is going to the vets to be fixed / spay. My starter motor on my old Lister engine gets a good seeing to by a boat engineer and we now have to stay moored on the canal until Bonny is recovered and my boat is back up and running.

Sorry but she was never at a puppy mill, I know because it was my family who owned her before, she only had one litter of five.
Aww really ?! would love to know more about her - the vet knew she had had puppies and a few dogs were rescued at the same time … how was she when you had her as she is very overwhelmed outside and has no recall at all … we working hard on that at the moment
@@TheNarrowboatPirateer name was Stella before which is why when you renamed her she had lost her recall and the tricks she was taught, she's never been on a boat before which is why she might be overwhelmed and probably still getting used to it and you, she was only crated when she was either naughty or sleeping, she was a very loving dog and quite hyper active and so used to being outside and used to other dogs as we had kept her son for her to play with when she was with us, I think you've been misinformed about her.
@@tiaappleby she is very scared outside which is what we are working on at the moment, building her confidence on walks, she is making fabulous progress - I love her to bits ❤️

But does prefer the pirate pants, i think we've all been shown.
As rum does flow, on the pirate ship, and weather does get hotter. I'd much prefer, no clothes at all, i think they are a bother.

Having my van now around London is a right pain Mrs. I'm cruising with another couple he's 84 and she's 77 still doing all the locks with ease. Bloody amazing. Jeans are hard to climb up ladders and light cloths get covered in jiz Mrs. Your dog is beautiful. Looking forward to meeting her and you again. Have a good weekend.

Why don’t you put a big floaty ball on the handle of your windless. If you did drop it in the water you can fish it out.
Because any cord etc around the windlass can get caught on the ladders and in the lock paddle gear … I’ve seen a couple of serious accidents because of this and as a solo boater I wouldn’t risk it … I’ve plans for it however 😃

Its a foregone conclusion that, if you are on a boat, you will get grease on whatever you are locking in. I'll be careful, you tell yourself, but to no avail. Dogs generally get over an operation like that fairly quickly and it prevents a lot of problems later on in life.

Im like you I like certain clothes for certain jobs , I have plenty to choose from but I always end up wearing the same stuff ( its what you feel comfortable in ) you could get a pair of water proofs to slip over your jeans when needed to keep them dry and clean ( just a suggestion ) .

I have waterproofs too but jeans are awful climbing up and down lock ladders, leaping to the towpath and onto the boat roof etc much prefer my stretchy walking pants 😂😂
Strangers bringing you some (RUM) balls to try. Having to "Bum" a stiff one (lock gate). Getting covered in "Lock J!zz". Diving into some untamed bush (along the towpath). This is more titillation than I get on the @campervibe channel, even (and there's two of them). Hi Heidi Darlin,so good to hear and see that Bonny has had her operation and with your loving care is well on the way to a complete recovery.I can tell it was a tense time for you but well done.Another bottle of rum and this one from Bundaburg in Queensland Australia ,a few years ago we visited the distillery and Sugar refinery,We sampled the rum which is very popular in OZ.
We also got to ride one of the huge cane cutting machines.
Another great vlog ,we are sure Bonny's next Vet visits will go fine..

Know what you mean about different clothes for different purposes. My Dad was in the Marines and always called the comfy stuff you wore around the house "civvies". Mine consist of loose leggings and tshirt or sweatshirt depending on time of year. Only wear jeans when going out in public. Sometimes there's the "overshirt", with pockets. Wear that over a tshirt so I can leave the bra (unnatural torture device) off and with a pocket to carry keys if I'm just out to walk dogs. I'm glad Bonnie came thru her spay okay. It's always a little scary when we have to leave the furkids at the Vet's! Hope she continues to recuperate and enjoy her new life with the finest pirate on the English waterways! 😊
Yeah jeans are a nightmare when climbing ladders and onto boat roofs - especially when wet…. I hate bras even more but I’ll be tripping over and have 2 black eyes if I didn’t wear one 😂😂😂

Bonnie is YOUR first mate .... she is a foster in name only, you can tell she is loving her life and loving her person ... so congratulations to you both. A lot of stress will be gone out of her life now that she has been spayed and she will be so much less distracted as you train her. I love your videos. Hi Heidi. So sorry to see Puddin leave, but in Bonnie you have a winner. Pudding is sitting at God's feet. As to the stainless paddle, lots of stainless out there that is still magnetic. Take your magnet and see what you have, before it goes overboard. You might consider attaching a float or wrist line? Love your postings. Best vacation I ever had, two weeks on the Shroppie and LLangollen!

The wrong clothes for the job always feels wrong! I live in jeans, but I would never decorate in them. I need bib and brace overalls for that. I loved proper walking trousers for walking and camping, never jeans. Wet jeans are, as you said, awful. The seams rub.
Poor little Bonnie. She looked well out of it on the drugs that day. But as you said to me last week, she was over it in a day or so just like my little cat (who likes to watch your videos), she was curled up on my chest for this one. She likes the movement of the boat when cruising and that you are quite animated when you talk so lots of movement again. They get over this major surgery so quickly and then they are sweetness and light instead of hormonal moody teenagers every 5 minutes.
One of those locks looked really strange. It looked like you were pointing directly at a brick wall when you moved into the full lock. Then when you came out you went immediately under the wall. That must be very interesting if you are trying to come up the lock.
Another great outing on the canals for us this week. Thank you. Your videos are always a delight.

I rescued a breeder mother too. She is now a diva. She learned quickly to work me. Or maybe I learned quickly. Lol😅

Ref stainless steel windlass, some types are magnetic, and some are not. Before you potentially lose it, check with your magnet. If it is not, then as advised by other subscribers, attach something to it which is. Hope Bonny is on the mend. Love your vlogs!
This isn’t magnetic unfortunately …. I’ll probably go with the jubilee clips idea somewhere on it to make it magnetic … I never want to have cord hanging on me or the windlass as I’ve seen it get caught in the lock gear and it’s dangerous 😃🏴☠️

In the USA, when the foster adapts the dog, we call it a "foster fail". In your case it was definitely a Foster Success. When my foster dog needed to be spayed, I talked my partner into dropping her off so I could pick her up a d rescue her all over again!

I recognise that lock where you hit your head. The chandlery had everything from food to shiny things and the owners were so friendly and helpful. Stayed the night there in the carpark for a tenner this time last year in the campervan on the way to N Ireland via Cairnryan ferry. Had to keep the Lab on a lead as she wanted to jump in!

Little Bonny is an adorable dog and I hope she is much better soon. I had a big standard poodle (who was castrated at 9 months old) who thought my son's used socks were the tastiest things going - he had to have surgery to remove said socks from his digestive system. Huge operation which came with huge bills (thank god for insurance!). Lovely video as ever and it's one of the highlights of my week.
