Thanks for continuing to make these videos. I find them entertaining and helpful and love a little wackyness. It just cheers me up. Happy jewelry making!
Lots of Fun while not just learning techniques, but how the process could go for you. Very down to earth and straight forward. In fact, I think the most important lesson is that, even when things don't necessarily go to plan, don't let it get to you. Learn and carry on. Thanks so much Nancy.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge. You are an amazing artist....but times that amazingness by 100 because you get more out of helping others to be better rather than being jealous or competitive that they may be better. Thank you again!
Love your videos Nancy, I learn a lot and and you put a much needed smile on my face. I worked for a jeweler that made his own tool just like the one you made, I remember pulling many a piece of wire and tubing through that thing, it was a beast but it worked and did the job, homemade thingamajigys and refashioned tools are sometimes the best. looking forward to your next video and checking out yours when it's done.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge and art! I made jewlery using lost wax method for years but started in high school fabricating things and now I'm old and have money, I'm cookin up all kinds of plans for book furniture and jewelry! I'm super glad I found your site! Maybe one day I'll be lucky enough to collaborate with you on a piece!
When I made my sterling tube from sheet, I didn't have that swage block thingie, so I took my sheet, & an unused drill bit (my improvised mandrel) and laid it on the sheet over the top of a vice I had opened up just a little larger than the size of the drill bit and hammered it all down into the gap between the two sides of the vise. I was surprised that it worked... that being said, I think I will look to making one of those swage blocks for future projects. 😂 Thank you for the lesson! You rock! 😃
I think I need to try the vise method. I have 2 pieces that I need an odd sized tubing for but I don't want to run out and buy new tools until I am sure I need them.
Could you tell us who is making your much wider master forming swage block? I would like to have a wooden one made as well that has all the swage grooves as well as dapping holes in a much wider version that’s wooden.
You are so inspiring, Nancy, and your humor keeps me going. Thanks so much for this and all your videos. I'm wondering if you ever created your drawbench kit that you mentioned in this video. I don't find it on your website. Thanks.
Hi love watching your vedios. So my question is how can I slightly curve and a tube? I want to use it for a bail. I've tried but always collapses on me . Please help.😊💝
Hi Gabriela! Have you seen my video on making tubing? That may help. If you email me photos, I might be able to explain better. Email: asknancylthamilton@gmail.com. We'll see if we can figure this out! Thanks. ua-cam.com/video/XFH9WeTQfHA/v-deo.html
Hi Nancy, do you remember where you bought that draw plate by any chance? I’ve looked all over for your kind with large holes and can only find cheap ones for pulling Viking knit work.
swaping out that hoop foor a triangle ring would help alot.. on youre draw bench.. or since you'rs had a hook.. a square ring.. you gt the idea you want an angle whre the toongs are to kep tension on the jaws so it wont slip off lik that.
@nancy Hamilton Nancy, I am looking to give my 999 silver cable link chain a brushed Finish to dim it a bit and give it some texture. I'll be using a dremel, I'm gonna use a non woven scouring pad attachment could you recommend an ideal grit for the brushed look? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
I've been watching a number of videos that require annealing copper and have seen large bowl like things filled with some sort of pebbles that is used when you anneal. I cannot seem to find what these are called in order to search for them. I do see the charcoal blocks on your list but was looking for something a bit larger and more contained. Can lead me in the right direction? Many thanks- love your videos.
I remember using a wire draw plate for the first time at jewellery school. We were told how to stand and many still were flying across the room as the wire was releasing from the hole. lol
I was going to say the draw plate needs to lock in, or the bench could have 90 degree angled add ins. If the draw plates had a little more blank space on each end, it wouldn't be necessary, unless of course, like you say, they ping out and wipe out the jeweller before they finish the piece.
Hi Nancy love watching your vedios. My Question for you is how do you bend a 3/4 inch of silver tubing . Just enough to give it a slight crove. Without it bending .
Are you talking about my draw bench aluminum (what it's constructed from) or the draw plate itself? The draw bench came with its aluminum U bar and the draw plates are steel. Most jewelry suppliers carry them. Thanks!
I had the same question and found this protractor tool that looks like it on Amazon. Is this it Nancy? www.amazon.com/dp/B07L8YGTQ8/ref=sspa_dk_detail_1?psc=1&pd_rd_i=B07L8YGTQ8&pd_rd_w=xV3yh&pf_rd_p=f0355a48-7e73-489a-9590-564e12837b93&pd_rd_wg=J7ZX8&pf_rd_r=T4WPCWZY16G4MSK29RHT&pd_rd_r=9a1302c7-3a2e-48e7-865d-b50b2bd63761&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEyNEVYVUE1M1hSQURaJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwMTkzMjcyMUtTMEVaV1RURzVNViZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUEwODAzMjczWDdOQlUwTjNUWUNWJndpZGdldE5hbWU9c3BfZGV0YWlsX3RoZW1hdGljJmFjdGlvbj1jbGlja1JlZGlyZWN0JmRvTm90TG9nQ2xpY2s9dHJ1ZQ==

Alas, I need to do that too...The list is long and time is swift! Hopefully. Thanks for the reminder. I need to get on that!
You are a master!
I need some of those fancy calipers!

You look beautiful!
Where can I get your wooden swege block?
Hello, what size metal should I cut for a 2mm tube?
Thank you so much!

Thank you for posting this nice video(!). So, where did you find the aluminum bar for your draw plate....??

Please can you tell me what the name of that ruler with the round end is called? I have never seen one of those before 😮

I have like a million pounds of stripped copper wire like from buildings. Is there anyway I can use that stuff to make jewelry and other things?
Clamp the draw plate into the draw bench!
Wow, I didn’t even realize this video was made two years ago. I’m way behind.😆😆😆🤣🤣😂🤣😅😅😁😁😁🤗🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
