The way that transmitter looks, I wouldn’t be too surprised if it started talking. I will be getting one of the models soon in order to pull the most from the models I buy. Thanks!
I managed to pick up the original version second hand like new. For me it was leaps and bounds ahead of the toy TXs I was getting with all my mini quads and helis. I love I can now control them all from the same TX. I was hoping this new version would be a step up, though for now I think I will stick with the original. Thanks as always for detailed review Andy.
Thanks. I have had this Tx for a while now and just bought another DYS Elf which I have managed to bind to the Jumper. I was concerned about setting up the 3 way mode switch and this tutorial showed me how to do it.
Was considering replacing my Devo 10 with 4 in 1 chip with one of these just for the hall gimbals but won't bother after you not being blown away by them. Great review Andy!
Thanks for the honest review. I bought the original version thinking it would be worthy of daily usage. It's seen about 2 weeks of my time and now it sits in the box it came in. I noticed in your video that the same issues are present in this one as in the original. There is lots of twitching and quad seems to slowly drift sideways. I had rc deadband set really high and it still does the same thing.
Thanks for taking the time to do this review! Very informative and quite comprehensive! As for the hardware, you made it look really nice (except for the color!) An owner will surely put a skin on that yellow! I have the standard T8SG for simulators and future whoops & quads, and it has been fine so far... Thanks again for posting!
Nice review. I think the original made more sense at the price but as a bit of a toy flier I'm not as bothered by size as some are and have always been used to holding something quite small in my hands....
Have the Original, ordered the new one just because the old gimbals are wearing out. Even it feels cheap, it just simpy works and I use it for my whoops and up to 3 inch models. Perfect to go anywhere
You will setup your switches one time and then just copy the model and modify if needed. When you look at the history of Deviation you'll see that it was for radios which Walkera used to ship with helicopters. Therefore the Mixers are so complex but really powerful on the other hand. You'll have a really hard time if you want to setup a swash-plate with a Taranis/OpenTX.
I still have a Devo 7e with a single NRFL01 module. I’m debating on replacing it with a 4 in 1 module. Since this original Jumper T8 came out the choice was hard but with the T8SG plus it’s even harder. Thinking of getting this one but I may wait for a little bit until it comes with a voice module. Thanks for your review.
Received my V2 in just 6 days from Banggood (must be a record). First surprise was how heavy the package was. This is a plastic transmitter. The backlight on the LED display is very poor - just like the original jumper. The screen is slightly smaller too. No surprise was that the sticks didn't centre well on the channel monitor. OK, exercise the sticks vigorously (they were new) and recalibrate. Since then no problem. I'm reading about the problems that some people are having with the hall effect sticks on the Plus (the above cure won't work) and still feel I made the right choice.
Really useful - thanks - but having trouble binding to my Syma X5C: can get as far as steady lights, but no prop action. Have tried all possible stick movements and various switch positions, but no action at all. Syma binds and flies fine on its own transmitter. There is a setting that says "X5C on/off" but it only binds in the off position... go figure.
I'm surprised that you find a three position switch to be difficult. If you use it to give three rates, it's easy. I know uou prefer to arm rather than hold, but there is a dedicated hold feature. The original jumper had a white screen and the brightness/dimmer worked OK.
Nice video Andy, I just received the original Jumper Transmitter. I have several quads that don't have transmitters for them and I am going to try to bind it to them.
Glad to see someone is still catering to the brushed folks. Just can't see having to replace the X9D+ though. She gives me what I need, baby!!! I'll pass, thanks for the detailed review Andy. Jeff
After watching this again, I think I will order a V2 when they're back in stock (I must get one before the Deviation forum messes it up like they did with the original T8SG). I don't like that screen and I don't think Hall effect gimbals are all they are cracked up to be. Like you, I have ancient transmitters which still work fine (harking back to your Taranis update). I know the iRange transmitter has been withdrawn because of problems with the stick pots, but it really depends on the pot quality. Back when I built my own transmitters I always used wirewound pots. Maybe I'm lucky, but my original Jumper doesn't have problems. If the shorter stick travel is a problem, all you have to do is lengthen the sticks.
Dave Day this is true lengthening the sticks is a good shout. I've since found out they have done a v2 of the ir8 be interesting to see if they fixed the issue but I don't think they have sent it to any reviewers so no one knows bout it. Cheers
Dave Day I've got the original do u have any clue why I have to enter numbers( like 123456 or frequent flyer said for my mjx 800 on mjxq protocol I'd have to enter multiples of six in the fixed name part of the setup? What the heck is that for do you know?
I have a problem there because I don't know what frequent flyer said. I do know that with some protocols you have to enter a number. In most cases I enter my BMFA number and it works.
Andy, Like you I had to convert from Mode 2 to Mode 1. I was wondering how to get to the spring on the elevator stick when I realised you could unplug the pots and swap the sticks over. I assume you did it that way because like you I had to cut away part of the stick housing (not the gimbal). They could have done us all a favour if they had msde two of the front switches with longer toggles and the two switches on the top of the case pushbuttons instead. Most of the toy quads use buttons for extra functions. I know members of the Deviation forum have been helping with development. Maybe they should spend some time actually flying models.
you dont touch the pots / springs. you swap them over. if you remove the springs it will be impossible to put back. but you have to cut away some of the gimbal or the pentameter will get in the way. if you arnt using the pentameter then can just leave it jammed in place
I think your right the price is kinda high, but where else can you get a transmitter that does all this can do with connecting to all those protocols. For 99 dollars this would be an amazing transmitter. Still great but priced alittle high!! Thanx for the review!!
i think the issue is a q7x coupled with an irangex module is a similar price and most likely suits the casual user who just wants flysky dsmx futaba and not the toy protocols
Great transmitter, had one a few months and love the thing, but it won't bind with some walkera products that use the newer protocol like the runner 250 pro which I own but sadly won't bind properl
You can hook the springs themselves up an extra loop to tighten the movement. I think the three position switches could be setup easier, but what I do is make a complex mixer with three fixed value switches. (edit, ah you did it the same, but if you select fixed source will be none anyway :p) The screen is OLED, the brightness could be changed but I doubt it is very useful. I have the iRangeX from the first dodgey batch but fixed its issues, could you check if the gimbals from the Jumper would fit?
Can you use the Flysky to check if it gives you voltage telemetry? Trying to upgrade from i6 to this one, was thinking about the IRX-IR8M v2 or this one since it has hall sensor gimbals, ive seen bad coments about irange range
so you mean the upside of why one could prefer a standalone rc with deviation over a module would be "you can install updates easier" - unless the rc got discontinued, what the original version did (not even a year after market introduction) so now, if you bought the original one and you want to use a new protocoll, you'll still have to buy something new or compile the software yourself? I'm not quite sure why that should be better than just buying a new module, like every year or so.
this is true however just because the TX is discontinued does not mean that deviation will stop supporting it more likely so they will add another fork. cheers
Thanks for the great review. Questions; you mentioned "RC deadband". Could your explain how you put that in? Is that something that is set up in CleanFlight or BetaFlight or is that something your program in the transmitter? Thanks in advance for any information.
Is it good if I use an extension ribbon cable to connect the RF module to the TX? I like to set up Mark Spencer's car roof top radio rig, so that I can fly a longer range while staying inside my car. He uses a extension ribbon cable to connect JR module. But, I don't think the Jumper series are meant for longer ranges (about 1 km to 1 mile).
Hi have just bought a taranis q7s but am thinking of sending it back for one of these , as i can then fly all my stuff on a oner . Can you tell me Andy is this adjustable as to wifi out put as I don't need the range inside , and don't want to cook my brain and the kids ?
Hi Andy! For a first Radio, i'm a very newbie in this fpv world, now is in very good price the frsky x9 lite i'm thinking to buy but it only works in d16 and i'm seeing alot of videos that the whoops works better in d8, the taranis qx7 and the jumper T8SG V2.0 ( this two are the same price for me in banggood ) . Between this 3 with one is better for a begginer like me ?
Great reviews!!, I already buy t8sg v2 plus, is there any jitter issues with remote gimbal? and what size of the 2s lipo battery dimension is used? thank you
i have a d 8 mode receiver will this work? sorry I'm new. I've got a baby hawk 2.5 and have yet to use it, i bought this too but I'm struggling to understand what to do
Andy, can frsky R-XSR be flashed with jumper plus? transmitter choice is by far being my most difficult choice. x-lite(no crossfire), x9d+se(expensive), undergroundfpv nirvana(flysky), or jumper t8sg v2 plus(how is the range? no voice audio) ... any recommendations June 2018? 5" freestyle
I have been using a QX7 with the irange irx6 module and opentx. Am I missing out on anything by not buying the jumper? One of the Jumpers uses deviation rather than opentx, what is the difference? I feel like I'm missing out on something everyone is using but I really like the QX7 setup. I wish I could fly all of my models with a good radio and would buy a jumper if it meant I could. Thanks a million for sharing your rad vids man. Be excellent to each other.
My favorite bird is my Bayangtoys X16 GPS with altitude hold. For the AH, the left (throttle stick) is spring loaded to stay in the center position. Does NOT having the spring load on the throttle stick with the T8SG Plus cause any problems with the AH function? Has anyone flown the X16 GPS using this tx?
Swashed Productions go taranis if for nothing else but the gimbals and accessibility...I Donno much about the taranis but likewise I've Never really heard anything bad about them
Love your content. Have the T8SG and about to post a video letting consumers not to buy it. All UA-cam content is worthless getting this connected to windows 10 in DFU mode. Windows keeps screaming that best USB driver is already loaded. I don’t think this is ready for prime time...or for the consumer.
Hey Andy, I noticed you have RSSI on OSD! Is that an xm+ receiver? I thought that only worked for OpenTx transmitters. Does that work because the t8sg plus has 12ch vs. my original t8sg's 10ch?
AndyRC, does that work the same on xm+? I happen to love the sticks and throw of the jumper, but I didn't think I could get RSSI, so I haven't bought the t8sg plus. If betaflight OSD and xm+ will give me RSSI regardless of Tx, I think I will give it a try! Any chance of a quick betaflight OSD RSSI tutorial?
Vlad_vy over in the Deviation forums is already releasing T8SG V2 and T8SG V2 Plus nightly builds: www.deviationtx.com/forum/builds/7748-jumper-t8sg-v2-builds Also, here are some details on doing your own voice module add-on: www.deviationtx.com/forum/6-general-discussions/7766-jumper-t8sg-v2-plus-transmitter#68683
Great review!!! Can the model setup be done through the USB? What’s with the old USB PORT? Can the USB be hacked to be replaced with a USB C so it can also be run and charged over the USB? Thanks.
the usb port is for output only but yes the models can be made in a text file and shared on the deviaitontc forums. i guess some rewiring of the usb port could be done but i think the hassle would outweigh the benefit for myself. cheers.
Yeah there is a PC App to setup models on PC and just copy them over to the radio. The model configs are just *.ini files. You also can edit them with Notepad++ or other text editors.
Rick McDole %!**...lol that makes 3 less I can fly it with..bummer.... say, do u know what's up with the "fixed name" part of the jumper?and why/what for the part to the right of it where you enter say "123456"? And I guess for my x800 binding frequent flyer said I'd have to enter the numbers in multiples of six?... What the heck is that about?!
Posting this question here because I'm getting no answer from Banggood or Jumper and there might be someone who can help me. Does anyone know how to fix the issue of getting "Missing Modules: CYRF6936" on start-up. It suggests that I can "OK" the error message but I can't and transmitter just turns itself off after a few seconds.
@@AndyRCchannel Thanks very much for the reply! It gives me some hope that this might be a software issue - I was starting to think that the hardware might have given in. I'll head over to the forum and see what, if anything, can be done. Cheers.
check the deviationtx website it tells you all the supported models but if you search the forums also theres a lot of unofficially supported models. cheers
it depends if you want all of the toy protocols updated regular and a slightly lower quality and smaller tx or you just want main protocols such as frsky flysky dsmx and a better transmitter then qx7 and irange module would be better
D'oh...I admit when you went into setting up switches and a model I thought that was going to be the rest of the video and I didn't watch the rest. ;) Live and learn. Thanks for the review!
AndyRC thank you for your answer Andy. You mean the original T8SG; I have one of them and my quad runs betaflight 3.3 . There is a field in transmitter tab that says deadband? And for wich channel should I set it and what value should I put? I am a noob. Thanks in advance!
Andy I know you do not take music requests but I thought it would be really cool if you could do a industrial metal version of Duran Duran's "Careless Memories", kind of like how Ministry would do it? I keep having this idea you could pull it off, I know it's a strange request but like someone once said "We are the weirdos, mister" :D
thanks a great idea thank you. Im thinking of doing a separate channel for the music as im limited to what i can show on here. for example i have a slipknot cover that i know would go down like a lead baloon and no one seen it yet. what do you think? cheers
Wtf is "fixed name" for ? And where you enter numbers like 123456 or frequent flyer says for my mjx 600 it's mjxq protocol and to enter multiples of 6 in the fixed name part? Wtf for!?!! Lol and why multiples of 6?! I realize that's probably a lengthy answer so I'd really appreciate the help. Stupid manual is not all that detailed on that
I like the radio ok and i will fly anything or at least try but these days its hobby grade. I didnt like that 3 position switch at all. I have the 7s taranis right now. I will get the 10 or 12 horus at some point....anyway it was interesting to see whats out there! I became a patron btw.....finally.
thanks so much for joining Jeff. I agree setting up the 3 pos should not be so hard. die hard deviation fans will disagree and thats fine also. I like the X10S its my main radio i wish the battery lasted longer though. cheers
Just referred to this to change my gimbal tension and avoid yaw drift on throttle change. Still really enjoying this radio. Thanks for the good work!
The way that transmitter looks, I wouldn’t be too surprised if it started talking. I will be getting one of the models soon in order to pull the most from the models I buy. Thanks!
I've returned to this video several times. Thank you Andy.

Makes your hands look YUGE! Really excited about this little controller. love the small size and portability of my devo 7e.
for planes and complex mixing options, deviation is awkwardly super powerful.
fingers crossed they ship some soon
Thanks for taking the time to do this review! Very informative and quite comprehensive!
As for the hardware, you made it look really nice (except for the color!) An owner will surely put a skin on that yellow!
I have the standard T8SG for simulators and future whoops & quads, and it has been fine so far... Thanks again for posting!
Nice review. I think the original made more sense at the price but as a bit of a toy flier I'm not as bothered by size as some are and have always been used to holding something quite small in my hands....
haha u legend ;)

Thr biggest problem i have with the jumper is that the sticks dont go tight enough and i struggle to fly smooth with them. cheers
Really useful - thanks - but having trouble binding to my Syma X5C: can get as far as steady lights, but no prop action. Have tried all possible stick movements and various switch positions, but no action at all. Syma binds and flies fine on its own transmitter. There is a setting that says "X5C on/off" but it only binds in the off position... go figure.
I'm seriously thinking about one of these!!!! Cheers and thanks for the review!!!!
I'll get one in a couple weeks for sure. Thanks for the great in depth review.
I'm surprised that you find a three position switch to be difficult. If you use it to give three rates, it's easy. I know uou prefer to arm rather than hold, but there is a dedicated hold feature. The original jumper had a white screen and the brightness/dimmer worked OK.

Hi, is it compatible with MJX Bugs 3-6-8 ?
😎👌 Quality concise review, tutorial on 3 position switches the highlight...top work Andy👍👍👍
Thanks Andy, waiting for it to show up any minute. Weeeeee :)
I see this but wasn't sure if it would work on racing quads or simulators, thanks for the video man

I have the iRangeX from the first dodgey batch but fixed its issues, could you check if the gimbals from the Jumper would fit?
I can’t figure out how to get my receivers to work in I-Bus mode.
Three position nightmare think I'll stick with my evo excellent review
??? Maybe you could get your hands on a AT10II w/ R12DSM to review ??? it boasts 2ms latency.
Thank you for including the stick-cam!!...omg that thing is way too tiny!! Lol oh & never knew AndyRc, had Shaq hands! 👏😂
The screen brightness can be changed. You have some problem.
I like the new intro!!! Sweet remote!! Still like my Q- x7!!!
Love the channel!!!.
👍👍👍👍👍
Can you use the Flysky to check if it gives you voltage telemetry? Trying to upgrade from i6 to this one, was thinking about the IRX-IR8M v2 or this one since it has hall sensor gimbals, ive seen bad coments about irange range
Andy can a model setup be copied so a new model will be setup the same except the model name and binding to its receiver? TIA

It can blind with lieber birdy 1060 or can not ?
Thank you
Do you think the yaw jittering in the video is because of the transmitter?
Thx soo much would the new version of the jumper(the new version is the jumper t8sg v3) work like this
Good review! One Transmitter to Rule them All ;-) Thanks for the video and Happy Flying!
thanks Andy, I learn somthing today : how to make work 3 position switch with my original T8SG
Olivier DUDU It was a pain how to find out, now Andy explain it.
Hi have just bought a taranis q7s but am thinking of sending it back for one of these , as i can then fly all my stuff on a oner . Can you tell me Andy is this adjustable as to wifi out put as I don't need the range inside , and don't want to cook my brain and the kids ?
Excellent and in-depth review Andy 👍 sounds like you're full of cold again🤧
Hey Andy is this similar to the new carbon version? Just got mine but can’t find a manual for the carbon version. Thanks !

I have a XK A600 Plane, brought a FT Edge 540 plane and also planning to get a Trashcan drone. Any advise on what transmitter I should get ?
How many is the model memory? it seems to be the only thing not mentioned.
Great reviews!!, I already buy t8sg v2 plus,
is there any jitter issues with remote gimbal? and what size of the 2s lipo battery dimension is used? thank you
I have the this transmitter, and I use de Tattu 2500mah 2S Lipo battery, is perfect!
i have a d 8 mode receiver will this work? sorry I'm new. I've got a baby hawk 2.5 and have yet to use it, i bought this too but I'm struggling to understand what to do

No you have to use an ftdi adapter and do it via the pc. And if you want crossfire the only real option is the x9d
Hey Andy! I have a question for you? why don't you ever fly to the right of where you're standing at in the field? Do you lose reception or something?
theres a load of trees that disrupts the line of sight of the RC and video signal. cheers
Hi, have you any experience with flight data? I do not get any infotmartions running, no V speed no H not the gps or distance.
Great review Andy!
Great video andy, keep it up

Hi Andy would you get this transmitter given the choice or Qx7 with multi module as currently the different is £15 on bang good
Would you consider this over a taranis qx7 with a multiprotocol module? they're the same price in australia.
Swashed Productions go taranis if for nothing else but the gimbals and accessibility...I Donno much about the taranis but likewise I've Never really heard anything bad about them

its an xm so it does it through betaflight it doesnt send anything to the TX
AndyRC, does that work the same on xm+? I happen to love the sticks and throw of the jumper, but I didn't think I could get RSSI, so I haven't bought the t8sg plus. If betaflight OSD and xm+ will give me RSSI regardless of Tx, I think I will give it a try! Any chance of a quick betaflight OSD RSSI tutorial?
Good transmitter. The bumble bee radio hahaha
they are shipping mode 2 but not mode 1 yet.
Andy, did you swap your sticks or did you get a mode 1 unit?
cheers
I swapped the pots but you have to cut away some of the gimbal to do it
Vlad_vy over in the Deviation forums is already releasing T8SG V2 and T8SG V2 Plus nightly builds: www.deviationtx.com/forum/builds/7748-jumper-t8sg-v2-builds
Also, here are some details on doing your own voice module add-on: www.deviationtx.com/forum/6-general-discussions/7766-jumper-t8sg-v2-plus-transmitter#68683
Nice TX and I like the color. Too bad I can't use it with my Futaba FAAST receivers. Thanks for the review.
I still fly my D7e for flysky bayang and wltoys protocol
Thanks for this great review. Does it have 150mw on every protocoll? Also on Futaba S-FHSS? Lookin forward to your feedback
Does it work with quads with altitude hold and gps?
It does yes
AndyRC Thanks for your attention.
ZeroFPV got a link to the app? Any idea if a IOS app for this exist. That would be great for on the FLY use.
Andy, does this version support the MJX Bugs series? I believe the original Jumper didn't.
Rick McDole F*** ARE you SERIOUS?!...THAT WAS A MAIN REASON I GOT MINE...fml
The original didn't, and looking at the supported protocols on the v2 and the Plus, they look the same. I feel your pain....
No idea...I haven't used the Jumper radios.
Are the "channels" you select the amount for( I think u said u did 8?) Are the "channels" just the total amount of buttons/switches?
Posting this question here because I'm getting no answer from Banggood or Jumper and there might be someone who can help me. Does anyone know how to fix the issue of getting "Missing Modules: CYRF6936" on start-up. It suggests that I can "OK" the error message but I can't and transmitter just turns itself off after a few seconds.
Usually means the wrong info is typed into the inf file. Join the deviationtx forum. They will be able to give you their time
@@AndyRCchannel Thanks very much for the reply! It gives me some hope that this might be a software issue - I was starting to think that the hardware might have given in. I'll head over to the forum and see what, if anything, can be done. Cheers.
how far is the range..?
Hi Andy I’ve just bought the t8sg jumper plus but can’t get it to bind to my Hubsan H111C do you know if it’s possible to bind the jumper to it?
i use it with my hubsan! works great!
will it fly any of the bugs, you think
How many models does it support?
Really? Can it bind with any drone like cx10a?
check the deviationtx website it tells you all the supported models but if you search the forums also theres a lot of unofficially supported models. cheers
hello everyone, for first transmitter, did u recommend this one? or QX7? thank you
it depends if you want all of the toy protocols updated regular and a slightly lower quality and smaller tx or you just want main protocols such as frsky flysky dsmx and a better transmitter then qx7 and irange module would be better
My left light is also red. why is it red?
Can you adjust the tension on the sticks?
yes you can its towards the end of the vid cheers
D'oh...I admit when you went into setting up switches and a model I thought that was going to be the rest of the video and I didn't watch the rest. ;) Live and learn. Thanks for the review!
How do you set the deadband? You have to do it for all four channels?
hey nick you set it in the receiver tab in betaflight you cant add it to the transmitter which is why the original ir8 had to be fixed
AndyRC thank you for your answer Andy. You mean the original T8SG; I have one of them and my quad runs betaflight 3.3 . There is a field in transmitter tab that says deadband? And for wich channel should I set it and what value should I put? I am a noob. Thanks in advance!
RC deadband and yaw deadband are the figures you want. start to increase until the copter stops drifting
AndyRC you are a nice guy! ;)
AndyRC what does deadband mean
Big help! Thank you!
I'll keep my modded D7e. Still works very well.
I agree sadly DeviationTX is... very counter-intuitive at start.
Very good review, thanks.
Hey Andy will this bind to Frsky Rsxr ?
yes it will :)
@@AndyRCchannel thanks mate.
I mean R-XSR?
excellent review!
All I can think is that the Jumper looks like a Lego mini fig head.
Thank You Enjoy your video's
Andy I know you do not take music requests but I thought it would be really cool if you could do a industrial metal version of Duran Duran's "Careless Memories", kind of like how Ministry would do it? I keep having this idea you could pull it off, I know it's a strange request but like someone once said "We are the weirdos, mister" :D
thanks a great idea thank you. Im thinking of doing a separate channel for the music as im limited to what i can show on here. for example i have a slipknot cover that i know would go down like a lead baloon and no one seen it yet. what do you think? cheers
AndyRC do it on here. Title it dont watch this one
thanks Jeff :) perhaps i will then!
Of course, Andy dont let anyone stop you. It's your channel and people are capable of sorting in your content without feeling pushed away.
It gets a lot of hate when i post it I wish i could please everyone but i really appreciate everyone that likes it. I should get more guts!
does anyone here know how to convert this radio to Mode 2?
Wtf is "fixed name" for ? And where you enter numbers like 123456 or frequent flyer says for my mjx 600 it's mjxq protocol and to enter multiples of 6 in the fixed name part? Wtf for!?!! Lol and why multiples of 6?! I realize that's probably a lengthy answer so I'd really appreciate the help. Stupid manual is not all that detailed on that
Anyone?
I like the radio ok and i will fly anything or at least try but these days its hobby grade. I didnt like that 3 position switch at all. I have the 7s taranis right now. I will get the 10 or 12 horus at some point....anyway it was interesting to see whats out there! I became a patron btw.....finally.
thanks so much for joining Jeff. I agree setting up the 3 pos should not be so hard. die hard deviation fans will disagree and thats fine also. I like the X10S its my main radio i wish the battery lasted longer though. cheers
