@ There’s a period when QEII was in the 70s/80s and Queen Mary was not gray yet. When I see those, I see how much they look alike. Just the face. Lady Louise seems very lovely
Princess Catherine in the Love Trophy choker! Now that would be amazeballs! And I know people will find this comment rude but this jewelry should only be worn by the young. This jewelry makes an old lady look older but makes a young woman dazzle!
The Love Trophy Collar is one of my absolute favorite collar necklaces. I hope it comes out of the vaults on Princess Catherine. And the Diamond Soire. That’s brilliant.
The only one who could come close to matching the regal appearance of Queen Mary and her ability to wear huge numbers of pieces of jewelry simultaneously, was her mother-in-law, queen, Alexandra. I think now, if loyalty tried to wear so many things, not to mention stomachers, It would just look strange.
Mhmm. They would be accused of a battery of heinous crimes, vulgarity and being out of touch. But interesting to note is that, although the late Queen grew up around her Grandmother and all that jewellery, she herself declared Diamonds and coloured stones were only for evening/night wear and that pearls were the only aceptable day wear jewellery. IMO the late Queen was not all that fond of jewellery which is why we rarely saw/see these fabulous items. I truly hope that Queen Camilla brings yet more of these forgotten items out for the other Royal Ladies to wear.
Lady Louise will wear a tiara for the first time on her wedding day, as is the tradition. As for my favourite necklace, it has to be the long diamond necklace 👏🥰
I want Lady Louise to wear those. Or at least a tiara, I’ve never seen her wear one. She looks like a blonde Queen Mary if you compare them side by side.
@@alffuergregor- Not necessarily so. Princess Anne started wearing tiaras when she was 17 years old. At the 1967 State Opening of Parliament she wore her mother’s Cartier Halo tiara. This was 6 years before her first marriage.
Oh yes she was a known bower bird/magpie when it came to jewellery & that if a lady wore a piece of jewellery to court that outshone hers she would admire it to the point the lady had no alternative but to gift her with the piece in question.
There are plenty of stories but none of them fact. The stories have become accepted as fact by repetition. I have a particular interest in Queen Mary and have been quietly researching her for years. She certainly never refused a gift, but there is not one proven story about her taking things. In fact she was renowned for asking bills to sent swiftly and paying within 24 hours.
She is influenced by the style of her mother-in-law queen alexandra, the influence of queen alexandra's fashion at that time was indeed very impacfull And queen alexandra was the one who popularized the choker necklace style at that time

I would love to have an afternoon at tea with Queen Mary. She had the best taste in everything, and I think she has been inspiration for me with my collection of family jewelry and heirlooms watches from my great grandfather, to a silver choker designed in acorns for my grandmother the list could go on and on
Someone said of the Queen Mother, she was never beautiful, but knew how to look beautiful, I think she learnt that from Queen Mary, she makes love to the camera. It would be nice to see some portraits of our current royals in the best of the best, open the vaults ladies!
It's a pity that there seems to be the attitude to hide these marvellous pieces away now to not look overly showy - something the European royals don't seem to worry about. This is why Charles' coronation was so boring, no gowns, no jewels and a ceremony that was cut down and not deferential enough (IMO).
Besides Elizabeth ....My favourite Royal lady is Princess Alice duchess of Gloucester. Pictured @13:09 She lost her son William ...of whom Charles named his son after ...in a tragic plane crash in 1972. She lost her son and husband soon after, yet she lived until she was 102. Her full name was: Lady Alice Christabel Montague Douglass Scott Born on Christmas day 1901, Known as ''The Winter Princess.'' She never complained, and was a devout Christian. Elisabeth took care of her in the palace until she died in 2004.
It's my favourite but not really worn these days. I think it's the most beautiful and would look amazing worn in a modern way. The royals wear jewellery in really old fashioned ways. Even Catherine. They only wear them with ball gowns which is so boring and outdated. Love to see the sotoire worn with a stunning simple cashmere sweater or turtleneck. Not a ball gown like an old lady.
@ We do know her name, but there is much historical precedence. For centuries various Catherines & Katherines at the English court have been referred to by nicknames “Kate” or “Kat”. Two examples: Catherine of Valois, Henry V’s queen, was described as “fair Kate”. Katherine Ashley was called “Kat”. Same thing is true with “Harry” being an accepted nickname for various Prince Henrys: Examples seen with Henry V and also the Henry sons of Charles III and George V.
My favourite is that sotoire or riviére. That long simple strand of big diamonds that she often wore. I have never seen any of the royals wear that. Maybe QE2? Not sure.... I'd love to see Catherine, the Princess of Wales wear them in a more modern and interesting way.
I am going to wait and hope to see some of these long unseen jewels on Catherine, Princess of Wales, perhaps when her husband, Prince William, Prince of Wales, becomes King.
I just love Queen Mary! The way she dressed and wore jewellery is like no other Queen in history. She was the best! Her jewellery was poetry in motion. The only other queen I consider to be exquisitely attired is Queen Saleha of Brunei. She is beautiful and is extremely lavishly attired and bejewelled. I just love it all! No favourites!
Not true. Mary was not stylish for an Edwardian woman. I found her stiff and strict. Hee hairstyles were atrocious. She looked Germanic and stuffy, so upholstered and uptight. The most stylish queen of them all was Queen Marie of Romania. The most stylish and fabulous queen of them all. Elizabeth II was very dowdy in fact, much like her grandmother and mother. Take a look at old photos of Marie of Romania to see truly fabulous and chic Royal style. None of them understand true chic. Diana came the closest of them all to being daring but even Diana didn't always get it right. She was certinsly modern though. Even Catherine, Princess of Wales, while modern and stylish is sometimes a bit too flat, a bit too predictable in her choices. Anyway, take a look at Marie of Romania to see what I mean by a Royal who was able to combine regal style with a certain flair and daring.
@ Yes, it is true because I say it’s true according to me. I don’t care that she wasn’t Edwardian!! I don’t care what you think of her. It’s what I think of her that counts because it’s my opinion. How dare you criticise my opinion and tell me what I should check out. This is my opinion and that’s all that matters. I don’t need you to tell me what I should think!! What makes you such an expert? Even if you were, I wouldn’t give two hoots. Got it, madam know it all!!
May want to retrack that voice over after the Kate Middleton wearing the choker- section it’s Queen Mary of Teck not May of teck - which is what it sounds like
Mary of Tech, Princess of Wales, Queen of England was the last lady with a neck long enough to wear most of her collars... without looking like it was set in the neck...
I have been besotted by the Love Trophy Collar from the second, I laid eyes on it. Neither the queen mother, nor her late Majesty had necks long enough to wear it. I would give anything to see it on Catherine. Unfortunately, I'm afraid she's unlikely to wear it because it's too big a statement and not really her taste, at least not yet. I fervently hope and pray she will grow into being a jewelry lover, and has as much fun going through the vault as Camilla is doing. Queen Camilla is a royal jewelry lovers' dream, and is clearly having one heck of a good time playing dress up with so many of the beautiful baubles.
False information about the amethyst parure at 16:54. It was purchased by the family of Rorik Ravel, and he said Princess Margaret had inherited the amethysts directly from Queen Mary and sold them in the early 1980s. Photo at 17:04 is Ravel’s wife wearing the amethysts at their 1983 wedding.
No there was nothing wrong with QM's neck - she just had a long neck and was quite vain of that feature (along with her bossom) - hence the preference for elaborate choker necklaces, often worn with a "normal" length necklace and/or one or more long strands. She really was the "stacking" fashion forerunner.
It wasn't Queen Mary but Queen Alexandra (1844-1925) wore high necklines and chokers to hide a small scar on her neck that was likely the result of a childhood operation. She was known for her fashion sense and style, and her sartorial choices influenced many others including Queen Mary who was the queen after her.

How incredible it is that you came up with these chokers, which we've seen very little of. Super video, again! Thanks for your hard t. You're amazing!
Princess Catherine would look stunning in the Love Trophy collar or the Colliere resiliee. She has the long neck and height.
Thank you. Great to see some of the other pieces, instead of the same thing over and over again,. Great job❤
It’s very easy to see the resemblance between Queen Mary and QEII
And Princess Charlotte ❤
Features like eyes and eyebrows but QE ll was tiny and needed height to pull of a choker necklace !
More like Lady Louise though
