    Nice work! I just hand cut 50 stars (times 2) for an American Flag set of boards ... what a pain! I’ll have to look into a cricut machine.

    I keep watching the video and your materials list says 1/2 ply but that looks like 3/4 to me...I love the staining over the vinyl, nice job.

      Hey thanks! This particular set is 3/4. I forgot to edit that. Thanks for the catch! I would say though that using 1/2 in would work as well and reduce some weight to the set!

    Great 👍 video! Was splitting the A&M decal difficult with the Cricut? Thanks for sharing.

    • @TradesmenGarage
      @TradesmenGarage  4 роки тому +1

      Robert yes. I blew the image up to a 18” width. Then I had to split it in half using the big sticky mats in the cricut software. Then I just put them together on the board, stained, then peeled it off 😎

    Get a medium tac transfer paper, pull flat against the board nice and slow.

    Awesome build! I never seen Spar Urethane rolled on before. It seems to work well. What type of roller is that? Any problems trapping air bubbles?

    Hello,
    Why did you use 631 removable vinyl instead of a more permanent vinyl like 651? Just to clarify, you left vinyl on the cornhole and stained over it, you didn't removed it?
    Great video, learned a lot!

    • @TradesmenGarage
      @TradesmenGarage  4 роки тому +1

      Hi, I used the removable vinyl because after the stain dried I peeled it off. This was a minor mistake in my video editing, I accidentally left that 10 second part of the build out.

    I have a question regarding the vinyl..I'm currently working on some boards with gel stain and vinyl and there is either a residue from the vinyl that we used or the removable vinyl we used pulled up some of the plywood where ever it stuck. Have you had this issue with the type of vinyl you used? I figured a light sanding would get rid of this to have it ready for poly. Thanks in advance.

    So after I put the board together I sanded with 220 grit sandpaper...after I stain could I use minwax polycrylic for a finish

    • @TradesmenGarage
      @TradesmenGarage  4 роки тому

      REAU yes you can. Just be cautious for the weather. Polycrylic is not weatherproof. I recommend Sparurathane since it’s more weather/sun/and water protective

    This is nice. But I think alot of these kind of videos neglect to mention something important, specially for those of you viewers who are more than likely looking to do something like this for Pay. Those logos are 1. Copyrighted works and 2. Licensed to the Colleges they belong to. I'm just trying to inform people, no need to kill the messenger. But I really wouldn't mess around with Big Company logos with out permission, as you may "think" it would never come back to bite you, but then...it could knock on your door later in life after you've sold a good amount. Most of the time, the license to legally sell products for Schools or Military logos, etc, costs thousands of dollars and you pretty much have to show you've have made other sales before they'd grant you a license. Again, this is me just sharing that for anyone watching this, thinking it's "just ok" to go start a little business doing this. Sure, yeah, you could "do it" but....it's a roll of the dice.

    Did you use a gel stain? did you get any stain bleeding under the vinyl?

    • @beardedbudgetfowlers3998
      @beardedbudgetfowlers3998 3 роки тому

      Mine bleed through really bad with oil base stain . Went to another video of his to find that he uses gel stain. I’ll be sanding mine back down and trying again. Wish I wouldn’t have wasted my time and money figuring this out.

    How do you keep the stain from bleeding on the wood and messing up the lines under the stickers

    • @TradesmenGarage
      @TradesmenGarage  3 роки тому +1

      I used stencil vinyl, and gel stain. Liquid stain tends to run a lot easier then gel. Works like a charm, just put about 2 coats on it 🤙
