One way to make a video like this cooler could be to flash Liliana cards on the corner of the screen as you get to the part of the story they're referencing. Maybe with small text underneath that says the year+set. Not that you need to include every single Liliana card, but it can be cool to remember how parts of this story got conveyed through cards in various sets over literal decades.
To whom it may concern at WOTC, truth be told, I’d never have known one iota about the Liliana backstory without the Planeswalker Points series. It takes a motivated team, armed with time, care, creative freedom, and a little money, to actually inspire MTG players like myself to care about the main characters that, one day, might actually form the backbone of films and tv shows that are so desperately needed in order to ‘Gather’ a new generation of players …as Dr. Garfield intended
My cat is named after Liliana Vess. She was the first planeswalker I ever pull when I started playing MTG back in 2010. I still use her in my super friends deck to this day.
Cool video, my favorite character. Btw, you could have added that after the war and Gideon's sacrifice, she went to Strixhaven and became professor Onyx.
CovertGoLore, let's go! Love these backstory videos, keep it up. I would say, I feel like you didn't finish the story, tho. After invading Ravnica and then turning on Bolas, she is almost assassinated by Kaya, goes to Stryxhaven, and the rest. Maybe you were running out of time, but maybe we could get a part 2? Liliana is super awesome.
I loved her actions at the end of War of the Spark for being perfectly in-character and perfectly mono-black. She doesn't defy Bolas because he's deceitful, or evil, or a threat to the multiverse; she does it because she hates him *so much* she would rather die than have to listen to him for another second.
I’m really enjoying these lore episodes. I’m a sucker for a lore, but I have little time to find it and read it myself. Looking forward to the next one.
It seems like different editors are doing subtitles? The Salt at Howling Mines one was really solid and easy to read, but there's a lot of mistakes in this one ("Nicole Bolas," "Tesseract" instead of Tezzeret, "mine mage" instead of "mind mage"), and the words break sometimes in weird places too (like, isn't planes walk and chain veil a specific word set? Why show a single "vault." and not just put it in the line with the word "chain"...) I'm probably being nitpicky, but seeing someone else mention the subtitles, I thought I should probably say something too. It was slightly difficult for me to piece the sentences together :( Another tidbit: would really appreciate the names on some of these artworks if they belong to cards! I recognized some right away (and that Oath of Liliana's flavor text, heh heh...having the card on there after the full art could be helpful for newer fans to understand the reference, giving a source), but some others I'm not sure. I don't think they might be from cards? Sorry for the long post! Really appreciate the planeswalker stories, though. Liliana is one of those villains that really shocked me as a kid in the DotP/Magic Duels games when you realize that it was *her* chain veil that caused Garruk to be scary and stuff, and how she outlived the four demons who granted her pact, and her tragic past as a kid...I got scared of touching magic cards for a while after facing Garruk in the game lol Wizards should really consider making a Magic show, like Yu-gi-oh, seriously
Shame about the auto generated captions that were baked in. Going to make it hard to fix them... Plus the font, while clearly Magic related isn't great for reading long swathes of text.
This is a nice format for a video. Interesting and quick fire. Small point from an English teacher though; try to avoid switching between past and present tense - like in the demon section.
Liliana is my favorite for many reasons, but being consistently dropped in the deep end and needing to scheme her way out is my favorite thing about her stories All while still having a character and not being stereotyped into just only evil
Love the series. Taking on one of the Lorwyn 5. Personally I was always a fan of Ajani, native to the Naya shard on Alara. When his brother was murdered he turned Vengeant and acquired red mana to complement his natural white mana. When that didn't work out to exact vengeance, he eventually found peace and wisdom and turned white-green. I so desperately wanted him to turn Naya eventually but since his Phyrexian compleation... well. Unlikely to happen now. Unless...
All the lore and stories from Shadows over Innistrad to War of the spark was very great and well written. From the defeat (not really concerning Emrakul but whatever) of the eldrazis titans, to the defeat of Nicol Bolas. I think after 2019 it went a little bit down.
I was wondering what happened to Liliana after her appearance as Professor Onyx. As a strange coincidence, I was thinking this morning about how many sets have passed since then--with no mention of her story. So finding that you created this video, I normally watch your Standard content, seemed providence. But you left off just before the events of Gideon's death, and I am still left wondering; three years later and no answers.
I still think the best demonstration of her ark is when you find out she gained a position at the most powerful institution of magic once again to secure more power but this time she wants only to find a way to bring back Gideon. The person who never once gave up on her even when everyone else did.
There should really be a 2nd part to this. Killing the next two Demons was then how Bolas obtained Liliana's contract. Then how Liliana became the General under Nicol Bolas. Gideon's then sacrifice to save her. I also don't believe that she is a member of gatewatch "until this day". After War of the Spark, Jace told her to flee and Gatewatch sent Kaya to kill her.
Interesting to cut it off at War of the Spark when there's more to her story after it, and honestly one of the more interesting parts of her character as she reacts to Gideon sacrificing himself for her.
Liliana deserves either a love interest the level of Gideon or a sycophant the level of Renfield. Bonus points if the sycophant is now undead and always knows the correct Omenpaths to take to find her.
I love the game I play it on my phone now but I wish I could find some people in my area who still play the card game been subscribed to cgb ever since 2017 love your content
Love the video. One minor problem, and one questioning quibble. Minor problem: The flashing at 0:13 is problem for photosensitive/epileptic folks. Please be careful. Questioning quibble: in the subtitles: "Nicole Bolas"..... Ummm.
Thank you for the info! I don't know a ton of the lore, but played way back in 5th edition and prior. While the story with Planewalkers is cool enough, I do not enjoy how they impacted the game as a mechanic and will forever dislike that aspect.
Great video, better than the first one. A suggestion, cause it is like a fairytale, it sounds better, if you talk slower, like you here, instead of the first one. Great job mate.
So, Liliana failed to resurrect her brother, instead turned him into a zombie and traumatized by the event, she decided it would be a good idea to study more necromancy? Does not make a lot of sense to me. And - how did she end up in the college as professor Onyx?
Episode #1
ua-cam.com/video/Bv3rYsc-B1Q/v-deo.html
surely there is more to her story?
Can you cover the full Eldrazi story???
fun fact: her name is an anagram for "A Villainess"
There's also undead rogue/priest in Warcraft by the name Lilian Voss which is a clear reference to planeswalker.
Fun fact: This was an accident.

I love the story told through cards videos that sometimes pop up.
Oh boy, i was wondering when we would get another planeswalker points, and btw, the war of the spark liliana cg video goes so freaking hard

Check out The Lorebrarians for about 90 minutes of Lily lore. The story of our game is amazing.
My cat is named after Liliana Vess. She was the first planeswalker I ever pull when I started playing MTG back in 2010. I still use her in my super friends deck to this day.

Maybe a part 2?
She is professor onyx? I genuinely had no idea lol he definitely should've included that then.
LiLi's redemption storyline is one of the most compelling pieces of lore since Urza detonated the sylex killing his completed brother.
CovertGoLore, let's go! Love these backstory videos, keep it up. I would say, I feel like you didn't finish the story, tho. I'm enjoying these lore videos a lot. keep it up CGB!
I'm typically not a lore person but this once a month/week would definitely keep me coming back. Thanks for changing it up CGB
That was amazing, thanks! Always had a sweet spot for Liliana.
I loved her actions at the end of War of the Spark for being perfectly in-character and perfectly mono-black. She doesn't defy Bolas because he's deceitful, or evil, or a threat to the multiverse; she does it because she hates him *so much* she would rather die than have to listen to him for another second.
Great Video, great narrative
Amazing video format, i definitely enjoy it and scratching the surface of Liliana's character was definitely worth it ! Thanks CGB !
I’m really enjoying these lore episodes. I’m a sucker for a lore, but I have little time to find it and read it myself. Looking forward to the next one.
I really like those lore videos!
I'm really loving these lore videos! Its great for understanding the characters a lot better
Great vid, love learning some of the lore from before I started playing. Nicole Bolas cracked me up tho
I'm genuinely so excited to watch this! More CGB lore time yessssss
These are great! I hope they are successful so you keep em coming.
Wow! I really liked that vid. More please! And thanks CGB!

She’s one of my personal favorites!! Thanks for the lore video!! 🎉
Oh, I like this new video format!
Awesome video !!! I want more explaining the lore!!!
I am loving this type of content!
Loved the episode!!! thanks a lot for your effort
Awesome content mate!
Oh man keep this up cgb!!
Great video as usual, though I'd personally like to see a longer video on her as this doesn't seem to cover everything on her.
Well done, I like these!
I really like this series. I had no interest in Magic's lore before these videos but now I can't wait for a new episode to come out.
Like the first, this video ignites a spark in me to learn more about MTG lore
Pretty good video. The subtitles had several spelling errors, though. Good start to this series!
More of these please 🙏🏼 🧙🏼♂️

Wizards should really consider making a Magic show, like Yu-gi-oh, seriously
A show would be cool but, let's be honest, what does Hasbro know about making cartoons based off of toys?
Oh..wait... ;)
Ah, Tesseract, minion of Nicole Bolas
Shame about the auto generated captions that were baked in. Going to make it hard to fix them...
Plus the font, while clearly Magic related isn't great for reading long swathes of text.
Great band
Love this one too, if you like doing that, please continue because it's interesting. Would love a MTG story book.
This is a nice format for a video. Interesting and quick fire.
Small point from an English teacher though; try to avoid switching between past and present tense - like in the demon section.
I'm loving this series! Keep it up. 😃
Love it! Makes me want to play a Liliana deck!

Greate content cgb!!
I hope there's a second part of this video. Liliana's story after War of the Spark is very intriguing.
All the lore and stories from Shadows over Innistrad to War of the spark was very great and well written. From the defeat (not really concerning Emrakul but whatever) of the eldrazis titans, to the defeat of Nicol Bolas. I think after 2019 it went a little bit down.
I'm actually loving this series
Just throwing my pebble onto the algorithm mountain, I love this series
Loved this, but wished it was another 45 minutes long. Keep these up CGB!
I was wondering what happened to Liliana after her appearance as Professor Onyx.

What, SECOND EPISODE!?!? Excellent.
Absolutely love Planeswalker Points
Ohhhhhhh. After watching this.. I think maybe that's why that one magic card is called Liliana of the Veil. 🧠
Ladies and gentlemen; a magic zoomer
I look forward to her next run in with Kasmina in Return to Strixhaven, which Mark Rosewater mentioned in a blog post on tumblr
I still think the best demonstration of her ark is when you find out she gained a position at the most powerful institution of magic once again to secure more power but this time she wants only to find a way to bring back Gideon. The person who never once gave up on her even when everyone else did.
Always wanted to learn about MTG lore, but never knew where. At least I'll be able to learn about Planeswalkers here. c:

Video ends at 2:16 cool kids, what a heartwarming story ❤
Last one I wasnt too intrigued but this one caught me :)

awesome video!
I really appreciate this Videos. ❤

Lili will always be my fav walker. Such a sick character
Amazing content, it suits your voice
The AI captioning stuff doesnt really work when saying fantasy names like "Nicole" Bolas and "Tesseract" (Tezzeret).
I miss war of the spark. Having a bolas and liliana themed deck in standard was amazing
I love the game I play it on my phone now but I wish I could find some people in my area who still play the card game been subscribed to cgb ever since 2017 love your content
Liliana is hands down my favorite planeswalker
Love the video. One minor problem, and one questioning quibble. Minor problem: The flashing at 0:13 is problem for photosensitive/epileptic folks. Please be careful. Questioning quibble: in the subtitles: "Nicole Bolas"..... Ummm.
Ooof, again at 7:55. That's really bad for photosensitivity.
Look, they're going through some things. One cannot be imprisoned in a Spirit Realm bodiless without there being some changes. Who are we to judge?
This is a banger.
I really like this kind of content. It makes me wish WotC would do a show.
Thank you for the info! I don't know a ton of the lore, but played way back in 5th edition and prior. While the story with Planewalkers is cool enough, I do not enjoy how they impacted the game as a mechanic and will forever dislike that aspect.

Even if I don't play a lot with black decks lately, she's still my favourite planeswalker!!!
This is epic. 💕
Seriously I would like to see a netflix adaptation of mtg lore 😮
Jace: simps
Gideon: doesn't simp, does pay the tab
Agreed, cool video but should have continued up until at least Gideon's sacrifice and then Bolas' imprisonment
Liliana is love. My love at least
7:45 Nicole Bolas :^)
I love this series
Next plainswalker to be covered could be Tamio
I love Liliana, she is a great character. my favorite
We all know who the raven man really is ;) really enjoying these vids cbg
A surprise to be sure but a welcome one.
She is known by many names, but mainly by "professor hottie"
So, Liliana failed to resurrect her brother, instead turned him into a zombie and traumatized by the event, she decided it would be a good idea to study more necromancy?
Does not make a lot of sense to me.
And - how did she end up in the college as professor Onyx?
Nice story of Liliana Vess
Very cool, but what about her Strixhaven arc?
Very nice content
Great video. Thank you very much CGB 🙂 .
Also.... women...you can't live with them and you can't live without them. ^^
Yay Story time ^^
