I was working in the Providence RI area late seventies and early eighties. I dated a girl that was going to RIC. She always wanted me to go to Lupos Heartbreak Hotel (I think) to see "Beaver Brown". Damn, now I wish I had gone to see this fantastic band.
Working class blue collar rock like others of it's kind Bruce Springsteen E Street Band, Michael Stanley Band, Jackson Brown etc. Glad to see this back on UA-cam again, for a while they had taken it down. Don't know why they did but I glad it's back.
Yes, he kind of emulated Bruce, the guy with the sax kind of like the late Clarence Clemons, working Class type look, heavy bear and real rocking sound. Great band!
I loved this song back in the day. I've not seen the video before, as there was no way of seeing this video in the UK in 1985. What a treat to see this video now, in 2023, for the first time. The song sounds as amazing as ever and the video is wonderful. The video looks so fresh, it looks like it was filmed yesterday!
Saw these guys perform live and it was heaven. Heavy beat, good music and great singing. they are what made Eddie & The Cruisers so good. But there are marvelous on their own. Love Cafferty....keep rocking, guys.
Tunes is the man!! Learned some chops from King Curtis he told me...when I met Tunes he was in a band called Triumph doing a lot of different stuff...some R&B. I still have a 45 he did with his wife at the time...Gina. Great guy!! I need to catch up with him again SOON!!! This whole band were friends back in the day....we had it made!
Beaver Brown spent 1972 locked in a small one room house honing their sound and look. Hit the road in 73 and were the preeminent college/club band in the east coast for ten years before finally becoming a 5m record selling hit in the 80's. Still touring. Their greatest hits album comes out 9/30/22....
I could see that, too. The closest comparison is still Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band, but I could definitely see/hear Jackson Browne doing this song, too. Kinda reminds me of "Boulevard" a little bit.
Spooky that you mention, Jackson Browne, as I just watched the video for the first time and thought I saw Jackson Browne in the audience, at the 1:06 point.
If a 1985 person could see whats going on in 2023, they would realize how good they actually have it. I shudder to think that a person from 2065 would look at our time and think we had it good. What a hellscape the future must be in that case.
I hear a harder rocking John Cougar Mellencamp perhaps with a little bit of the Wild Child period of Iggy Pop as well as bands like the Hooters. This is a really good rocking music.

Those two, Beaver Brown, Tom Petty etc all started playing at the same time, with the same influences. Beaver Brown was and still is a real great live rock n roll band. They have a new single out now Day In The Sun and album will be out this summer...
God I'm 57 years old and I so miss those days
Great song
Back when music was real. No computerized instruments or voice altering, just real voice talent and real instruments. 👍
Your right music now totally sucks
@@briandaly42 and no tattoos
Yeah there were no synthesizers or electronic drums in the 80s.
Underrated Song, this track could be easily a 80's classic.
Absolutely. Made top 40 on Billboard, heavy MTV play and #1 on Rock charts for a few weeks .
1985 ...2023 things are still tough all over.
LOVE THIS SONG SAW HIM AT NASSAU COLISEUM GO CLARKE RAMS
2024👍🤝
2024 too.
They are local heroes here in New England. Got to see them multiple times over the years. When Rock n Roll was real.
I'm seeing them in Derry New Hampshire Saturday night 9/21

This stuff is so good! I see this guy gets compared to the Boss a lot but I can kinda see Jackson Brown doing this one in particular.

Look how happy and innocent all the people were. Carefree times. Well kinda
Importante los baterístas en estás bandas asen que sea un temon bien adelante siempre el ROCK.
Still as good in 2024👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Great song.. Wish I could do more... Honor this song... It's ....YOU!

Right about the time Redlands Daily Facts became the official hometown newspaper according to address. Smaller than Rialto Records 20 years prior.

This is a really good rocking music.
You left out the most obvious comparison--Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band (even though I've always liked John and the gang a LOT more).
Realment Fenomenal !!!!!¡!

My 2nd favorite song by John Cafferty And The Beaver Brown Band, after "On The Dark Side."
1972 John Cafferty and BBB started.
“November 2nd 2024 in Westerly Rhode Island.”
The 80's in a nutshell

I think the Boss copied John Cafferty, they both started about the same time!!
Better than the boss its trueeee
Better than the boss
That's subjective but I'd say they're equally great!
The audio is shit. It didn't used to be.
