To avoid fussing around with gels on the bike, I recommend you put some sugar / one of the gels in your water (or use a sports drink) and save one of the gels for the run. Depending on your nutrition the morning of the event, you can eat a gel right before the swim (make sure you wash it down with water) or save it for the next race. For hot races and/or if you sweat a lot, consider electrolytes.
If you're pretty fast (which I'm not) you can get away with very little nutrition on a Sprint, provided you had a proper dinner and breakfast. It's for the Olympic distance that things require a bit more planning.
Good luck! Looking forward to the update.

hydration - if you get aero bars, you'll have a bunch of options then and could move the Garmin mount to the bars (aero). Other option - behind seat setup, there are some that'll let you have a bag or you just tape the bag's contents under seat. Unsure about your events, but some sort of bag on your back - think you may have one from prior. Also, there are options for your downtube where it'll hold a lot of liquid but not that cheap.
    Good luck!

Make sure you use some grease on the post as it can seize into the frame due to the two different materials.

Galvanic corrosion only happens between metals. I'd never grease a carbon post.

I put some carbon paste on it, stops it sliding down too

Remember setting up my bike for my first Ironman in 1989. World of difference from the stuff today.

the cockpit costs you about 1-2W anyway in your position, since air will just hit your upper body after your camera and bike computer, regardless where you put it it, the only reason to change really would be to properly be able to fit clip on tri bars onto it, which with your setup is probably the best speed gain you can actually get.
Best of luck in your event!

Ah good to hear the cockpit isn't that important!
I was a bit worried about getting aerobars, but having had a proper look at the bike course for my long event it's mostly straight roads some I'm definitely going to look into getting some!
      Thanks!

Seems like your upper headset region has a bit of rust, in case you missed it.

Are your GP 5000s tubeless?. Wasn’t sure if the S TRs could have an inner tube.

    • @JMower
      @JMower  12 днів тому

Yes they are tubeless, but nothing stopping you from running a tube instead, but if you do that you might as well buy a normal gp5000, I’m pretty sure the non tubeless ones are a bit cheaper

@@JMower Thanks. I have a trek domane as well, so I find your setup vids really useful.

Hell of a lot better, well I done the same with my Specialized Allez that had Sora and changed it to 2x Rival

It's better, but not by enough to justify the ridiculous amount of money it cost me
