In videogames, you are both the object/character and the camera. In this video, we aren't the character But yeah technically we're seeing him in third person. He sees himself in third person (if you treat the camera as himself), and second person (if you treat the camera as us, the viewer)

They had people wear these special glasses that turned the world upside down for 3 days, when they took off the glasses the world remained upside down for 3 days before returning back to normal. If he had continued to wear it for the full three days I’m very curious to see what would have happened. There’s no way he could have stayed in the perspective of Hurd person without the camera so would his brain have overloaded? One of my first memories as a child was me being confused as to why life wasn't in third person, which is weird because I didn't really get introduced to third person videogames until I was 5.

This is why a lot of times with a 3rd person POV the camera is actually slightly off to one side, so you can more easily see what is directly in front of the character.

Just as in security cameras, the camera here has to record in very low quality in order for large amounts of footage to be saved, in this case 50 constant hours.

the dept wasnt a problem, the huge blind spot in front of him was, in games the characters are programed to do complex things when you watch in third person, he had to basically do these things blind because there is no ui using the most obvious example, in GTA when you use your phone the interface appears on screen, not in the game world
This challenge was far more difficult than it had to be. Placing the camera slightly to the side would solve his issue of not being able to see directly in front. This is why 3rd person in minecraft is so difficult to use with a low fov.
It's probably not being in 3rd person alone that's making it hard, it's probably also all of those indirect stuff that's making it hard like the relatively heavy mechanism strapped on his back, the unconfortability that lingers over time on the eyes and the modified height since he's probably like 230 cm with the contraption.
Why couldn't they attach a camera to the head with a thin stick instead of this heavy mechanism attached to the back? Camera is not heavy, so it wouldn't break a stick and it wouldn't be hard for the neck.
This mans really just took the thought about everyone I know has probably had at least once and actually did it, and actually has an insane charisma stat too. Great vid- very entertaining thank you :)
This is like a video game where you can mind control yourself as a game character, and you get feedback in all senses, smelling, touching and even tasting.
This is one of the craziest and best ideas I've ever seen. It must really be a challenge to have to see like that! I feel like something that might have made that easier is if the camera was in a true third-person view. Most third-person views are off to the side a bit, allowing to see in front of you.
That's such a reasonable concept when we are logged off. Us as the character in game feel a sudden wave of nausea and dizziness. To the point of not moving until we grab the reigns again.

Just as in security cameras, the camera here has to record in very low quality in order for large amounts of footage to be saved, in this case 50 constant hours.

the dept wasnt a problem, the huge blind spot in front of him was, in games the characters are programed to do complex things when you watch in third person, he had to basically do these things blind because there is no ui
using the most obvious example, in GTA when you use your phone the interface appears on screen, not in the game world

This challenge was far more difficult than it had to be. Placing the camera slightly to the side would solve his issue of not being able to see directly in front. This is why 3rd person in minecraft is so difficult to use with a low fov.
Another one would be to tie the camera to the head not the back.

It's probably not being in 3rd person alone that's making it hard, it's probably also all of those indirect stuff that's making it hard like the relatively heavy mechanism strapped on his back, the unconfortability that lingers over time on the eyes and the modified height since he's probably like 230 cm with the contraption.
And the low video quality from the webcam definetely didn't help out
Why couldn't they attach a camera to the head with a thin stick instead of this heavy mechanism attached to the back? Camera is not heavy, so it wouldn't break a stick and it wouldn't be hard for the neck.

Technically Ryan survived 50 hours in 2nd person, it’s just 3rd person for us.
This is one of the craziest and best ideas I've ever seen. It must really be a challenge to have to see like that! I feel like something that might have made that easier is if the camera was in a true third-person view. Most third-person views are off to the side a bit, allowing to see in front of you.
