No it's not. Rocket motors are infinitely more complicated and difficult to build. The temperatures rocket motors deal with would make this engine scream and run for the woods.

Wow the best engine of the world. I work as Ramp Agent at Frankfurt Airport and it is the only engine that vibrates the airport ground when the engines are started. You feel the incredible power miles away.
what speed? speed of what? are you on speed? do you really think that engine does all its work at that big goofy fan? cause it doesn't. and no you can't just put a Tesla car motor in place of the turbine, and have an electric plane. at least not a 777.
While everyone is searching for a bottom in GE stock, check out the fact that GE builds these beauties that no one else can match. I for one am searching for a top!
That kind of animation is actually super simple. The lighting isn't very complex, all animation are simple translate/rotate curves, nothing organic in the image. This is the perfect recipe how to get good looking CGI with minimal effort.
They were talking about the pressure ratio of the compressor section only (27:1) and not the entire engine core & fan. Supposedly the 9X will have an overall pressure ratio of 60:1 vs the Trent XWB's 52:1
Simply superb..and today..first successful flight of 777x with these power plants / engines..just amazing when one thinks of all this innovation in aerospace technology..also superbly made video.. thanks for sharing...!!!
Don't want to start a silly RR/GE commenting nonsense but this engine looks really beautiful. Having been brought up with RR (born 5 miles from Derby) I must express my absolute disappointment with the Trent 1000 debacle. But, RR will get over it and move forward. I wish GE best of luck though.
This is all well and good. But what I really want to know is where the heck is my GE flying toaster???? Making toast in the kitchen is so 90's. I want a toaster that can fly toast into my bedroom in the morning! Not sure if flying toasters is the aviation division or what. But in any case, GE, get to work!
All this graphic design for a simple presentation video?Either this is the official demo or these guys are just tryhards.Gotta love it though!Flawlessly presented.
Sadly Rolls-Royce is probably going to go under as far as their aircraft engine manufacturing is concerned. This engine is a game changer and with all the horrible troubles that rolls Royces had with the Trent 1000 I don’t see them recovering

Nice nice nice... I loved the current 777, was roomier than the A380, obviously I but also blame Lufthansa for their crammed seating arrangement. 787 is great, but I'd like to feel the A350

The fan blade shape is a work of art.

Hello from Ireland 🍀👍🇮🇪
Rocket science may be too far to reach, but this is some true engineering marvel!
And game-changer is fine? :-))))
This is actually beyond rocket science!

Very impressive, nice job GE Aviation and crew !!

The GE90 already the music to everyone ears and this is absolute masterpiece!
Hold my beer, The sound of the Trent 500 engines of an Airbus A340-600 is light years better

"i'm so proud of him"
You build absolutely amazing engines. Huge respect to all of you.
Rock. On.
indeed
Extraordinary. Incredible animation, the design is to put it mildly mind blowing.
What a mechanical masterpiece, a true marvel of modern engineering.
Imagine the speed, if this beautiful fan was on an electric motor.
We need this in air fans at home .-)
My only concern would be painting it to match the color of the walls.
epSos.de I imagine that it's possible to 3-D print a scaled down version of it , for an electric fan. Would probably be too expensive though.
Each blade probably costs as much as a small house

This kind of animation is really expensive!
How expensive? And what software is used to make the animation?

Probably MS paint
An expensive engine deserves an expensive animation:)
I am not sure, i could do the same level animation on a gaming laptop rendered in about a week... It's not that expensive nowadays...
