i don't really pay for in game currency, in fortnite i just make sure i have enough vbucks for the next battle pass, from my save the world challenges, and previous battlepasses, and i literally just wear one skin pretty much all the time, the giddy up skin, so i don't think skins are that overpriced, if you are smart you just buy the battlepass once, and then you are set.
When it comes to Fortnite, the most expensive cosmetics are really the result of licensing fees; stuff like car skins or kicks must have rigid demands from the collaborating company because they have a very apparent premium on the price.
and this is the reason why most of the videos are a waste of time to watch.. the person in the video cant do a lick of research hell article writers copy and paste each others own work ...so why start doing actual research now? 3 -5 mins and its easy to find the licensing agreements.. they are after all public info
If a games free they can charge whatever they want for skins since they’ve already delivered you a full game and the skins don’t add or takeaway from your experience of that game and they don’t force or require you to ever spend money.
I don’t have problem with games that are free. I trash Fortnite a lot but I have to give them credit for making the game free and allowing players to earn credits in the battle pass so that you can buy the next battle pass. Sea of Thieves is 40 bucks and has a battle pass but the free tier is the tier filled with most items and the paid tier is filled with like 10 clothing items. Hell divers is 40$ too but lets you earn credits. Bungie has no shame with destiny 2. It’s technically a “free” game but they charged full price for the game for 2 years then made it free and took away a lot of paid content without compensating players so they can’t hide behind the “it’s a free game” defense. They have the audacity to charge 20$ for armor ornaments, charge 10$ for battle passes that gives access to bland activities and is filled with reskinned or recycled weapons we used to own, and charge another 10$ for extremely small 7 tiered holiday event battle passes. In 2023, they sneakily rose the price of battle passes to 15$ and tried selling useless 15$ booster packs. They also put a small limit on the amount of armor. After the limit is passed, players can wait till next season which lasts about 3 months or they can pay 3 or 5$ to be able to transmog more armor they already paid for
I literally got flamed on twitter because I said that I think 16 - 22 $ skins are too expensive The people that buy these skins at that price are the problem they don't see anything wrong about it and fight against the community instead of complaining to the devs and publishers. ( I was talking about marvel rivals i know that the game is free still but i still stand by that )
nah you’re right i agree 100%, i don’t understand how 3 cool skins go for 5 bucks in the battlepass but anything else costs 4 times as much they’re real stingy with currency drops too, i got 70 hrs in game, completed almost every mission and i can only afford one single skin, but not even one of the cool ones just the shitty recolors
I think the biggest issue is gacha. Games like ZZZ use gacha to unlock characters making it nearly impossible to get certain characters if you like them. Even though you can eventually get some for free, it's still annoying especially when you get an item you don't want. MHUR does this awfully btw. Getting skins in that game is physically impossible as a f2p player.
ngl i like the aestethic of zzz but gacha HELL NAH i played enough of those (all f2p) and got traumas bc i pulled a [rarest rarity] char 6 times in the same pull and not the banner char.....
Fortnite does it really well with it's skins and cosmetics, unless we're talking about cars, instruments or those terrible shoes. All the things that you would actually care about though, are at least now priced really fair and very easy to get, with Epic having even free skins and items every so often in the game for everyone.
It reminds me of Lego and their prices. Most of their original stuff is a good brick-to-buck ratio, but when licensed stuff like Star Wars or Marvel comes out, it is considerably more expensive, because royalties are needed to actually make the sets
How is 10$ for a skin a fair price? You stupid? You can get a whole game for that amount of money. A skin is worthless. I'll make an exception if it's a license skin but 8$, 10$, 15$ for a regular ass skin is not FAIR. The reason you think that amount of money is fair because every game demands it. Back then 10$ was DLC for a game. When I was younger I bought so many skins and I deeply regret it but here we are people are now saying the price is reasonable. Love it when regular ass guys defend the billion dollar corporation. "Epic sure is nice ((((they are not EA levels of greedy))))"
