Not to many operators left with just switch units these days. I often spent time by the Tulsa, Sapulpa Union in Tulsa, Ok they run 2 out of 3 switchers and the Sand Springs RR had 3 but mostly used 2 as well.
This video brings up a lot of memories. I used to live across the river in South Jersey when I was a kid. I would frequently see some SW1001's in Conrail Blue on the Bordentown Secondary and around Camden. Sometimes I would even catch a few GP38s pulling a short freight thru Audubon or Haddonfield. I have many good memories of Conrail and the friendly crews who worked the area. They were always happy to give a horn show to my brother and I as we said hi. I hope that someday the Conrail Historical Society that I am a part of can have our own locomotive in beautiful dress blue paint. Thanks for posting this trainutjob.

Hi from the U.K. 🇬🇧🛤 Thank you soooo much for this amazing video and the info that goes with it. Fabulous to see switching action and an ex Conrail loco without ditch lights working on a regular turn in 2018. Epic, just epic😎🛤🇬🇧
Interesting. Glad to see some life back on the branch again. I live near there. Back in the "glory days" there were several industries served. Was very sad to see them die. Loss of rail traffic, more importantly major loss of jobs. Maybe things will get better again, who knows?
I really miss seeing SD80MACs with the whiteface, even when they did have a NS patch. I don't think there are any original Conrail blue paintjobs left, maybe some shortlines or dead lines.
@@thenekom mostly short railroads are where Conrail blue can be found. 4 Ex Conrail B23-7's live on up here in New York on the Finger Lakes Railway 1943 & 1989 are still in Blue while 1979 & 2004 were repainted and numbered 2301 & 2303 both are have been out service for 5 or 6 years awaiting wheel and minor electrical work.
Nice! Also, I’ve been wondering, when’s the Buselton Branch usually active? Most of the time I’ve been through that area (often times every Saturday when I’m the Center for Autism Grant Ave. location’s Saturday program (10am-2pm), it’s inactive.
That first signal is extremely delayed. Imagine if the train was going 40mph the car would have little warning. I wanna add that I'm a contractor for a class 1 railroad here in the south and I have been seeing more and more Wisconsin Central Railroad box cars lately. Really odd to see down here.
Great Short Line action here. One nice possibility would be if that former Conrail 8635 was sanded down & re-painted in the new owner's colors. I noticed she was hauling old Wisconsin Central boxcars so that's cool too. I also hope the owner's are doing whatever they can to maintain the engine itself inside. Thanks for posting this, really good.
Well Thank you Manaco Trucking for your part in saving this line and For making this Wonderful SHOW Possible... You are setting a neat example of rail to Truck TRANSLOADS FACILITIES........PLEASE keep us all informed of NEW FUTURE BUSINESS....please contact this SHORTLINE for all your BUSINESS needs.....It be fun if a local Auto body repaint OUR Unit as a advertising opportunity for both the Railway and bodyshop... in God Prayers 🙏
I've always wondered what the name is of this single chime type of horn. We have the same sounding kind over here on the railroad I work, on our Alco S6.
1) Am I correct in reading that this is the only rail service north of Grant Ave? 2) Who handles south of Grant Ave? Is that the CSAO operator? 3) Where is the interchange point between CSAO and ESPN?
If you are asking about the Bluegrass crossing between Welsh and Grant Aves, the answer is no. I've lived right near it for 20 years and I never saw anything on that stretch. There is some history there though. That line used to continue west , past Chapman Ford, crossing over the Roosevelt Boulevard, which at the time was a 6 lane underpass. In the '50s the trestle was torn down and the Boulevard underpass was filled in as the highway was expanded to 12 lanes. Back when the line crossed the Boulevard, it continued to Bustleton Avenue where it ended with a freight and passenger station. Hope this helps!
Dane Sakony thanks dude! And she screamed “we have work to do!”, she thought we were holding traffic up to film the train, typical mouth-breathing moron.
The southern end of Conrail Shared Ops is the old Sunoco Marcus Hook refinery in the town of the same name (dates back to 1902) - in short, before Big Mistake #1 - it was finally shuttered less than a decade ago. The refinery is like the town - it had operations on both sides of town - and thus both sides of Interstate 95. Conrail Shared Operations, Marcus Hook Yard is on the left (south) side of Interstate 95 - however, they have tracks east of the NEC, on the northern side of I-95 (and east of 10th Street (US 13)). I have relatives on both sides of Marcus Hook (and the suburbs thereof) - DiCostanza Sandwich Shop was (under previous Management) B&M Sandwich Shop, and remains my hoagie shop when visiting the area; it's on Market Street, just west of SEPTA Marcus Hook. Market Street ends at 10th.
Switchers are so awesome to watch . Especially an old Conrail like this one .

Gotta love these old beat up switchers and how they sound!!!!!

TheAardvarkguy Hello there! Thank you so much, I’m glad you enjoyed, I agree, it’s a very nice thing to have running in the present day!
Hi again. just watched this one more time and it is still EPIC:-):-)
Outstanding video man! Really sweet that you can still Conrail on that unit. Great work.
Good to see life still on this branch line ,great job with video
Beautiful locomotive! EMD GP10 no. 1700 used to operate on this branch and is now on the Octoraro Branch in Kennett Square, PA.
Harry Warren I remember the GP10, would be nice to see that in the brand new ESPN scheme!
Trainutjob Videos 1700 is currently in the maintenance shed right now, I hope they repaint it before putting it back in service!
And conduct the repairs it needs including repairing the broken windows and other stuff so that “DO NOT OCCUPY” sign will be removed

Good video. Nice transitions between scenes. Like the titles naming locations. Miss the old switchers.
Good work, love this type material.

@@82accs That's a shame. It would have been nice if I could have seen it for myself.
First, second, and third impressions mean lot. Get some paint on that switcher.
Paint doesn't move freight, and the shipper could frankly care less as long as their cars get delivered.
I can't believe that building swallowed that whole train.....
Lol
How old 8635 swicher re paint
I looked up the FCC frequencies for the ESPN I only see 159.8625
Are there any other frequencies that they use ?
Any AAR channels used ?
Thanks

As required weekdays, this was a Monday.
