"It's the things you don't do in life that you regret the most" - is something that James Acaster has never said

I love how every time I think one of these 'Scrapes' is almost over, there's another segment to the story. Damn, thanks for uploading these amazing stories.

Ayy this is greenbelt festival he's describing. I've been there a few times, but I don't think the year James was there. It's always a good laugh. Not everyone there is that weird, bit there's enough of them there to keep things interesting.

I cannot believe all of these scrapes are true...How on earth does he get into this trouble?

By being socially awkward and nervy. You become agreeable and don't protest as much as you should in a particular situation.

Yup and same here. I have been in so many situations in which I should've gotten angry, like when I confronted my best friend on stealing my items, but I remember just standing there and waiting for her to apologize, while she was busy gathering -all my- her new belongings and send _me_ out the door without my items.
It's a good thing that I've been practicing speaking up and as far as I'm aware, James is doing the same thing and no longer accepting shitty treatment from people. :)

I think it's his talent as a story teller. I think most people write off genuinely funny experiences without appreciating the absurdity of it. Guys like James are able to morph otherwise mundane experiences into good stories.
A lot of his scrapes are fairly boring when stripped down to their basic summaries

I'm very late but ....I am pretty sure that person was having a manic episode. I have met many people drawn to their own peculiar version of Christianity or other forms of spirituality during a manic episode. Everything has heightened meaning. The lady probably assumed that the coat-hangers on the tree were a gift for her to perform the sacred ceremony. People during a manic episode are spontaneous and creative, often in ways that don't make sense to us mere mortals! It may have originally started out with Christian intent, but ended up pagan as a result of the gift from the tree. I have received some very curious poetry from a lovely generous hearted lady during a manic episode. 'Reflective surfaces' would have fitted into that poem. Actually 'reflective' was in that poem! It would have been a pun on reflecting in a thinking sense, also. Maybe something about superficial thinking, and conjoined twins being deeper connection to Earth, or something like that. And/ or both James and the lady connecting as one for the ritual. I am so glad that James treated her with respect. His response says a lot about him. I hope the lady stayed safe.
