  • This is a rare footage of a Korean shaman (Mudang) performing a ritual in commemoration of Queen Myeongsoeng, last queen of Chosun Dynasty. Shamanisitc rituals, or Kut, are seeing a mild revival in Korea these days, due to people from the country side flocking to Seoul for work and seeking solace in old beliefs...

For the people who are saying Korean people need Jesus. Korean Shamanism is the native culture and religion of Korean people. it is even older than Christianity. So you must show respect to their native culture. And lastly Koreans are Asian people. and they don’t have to believe in your Western religion shut up.

What would happen if I went to a video of a christian liturgy or worship service and quoted scripture of a different religion or commented that they need a different god? People are free to have their own religions. Be a good Christian: don't be a dick.

Ive seen things like this here in America in some churches where people get 'Slain in The Spirit ' and ive seen some fall on the floor and shake and people trembling and speaking in Tongues etc. many religions have Spirit Possession including myself. I remember one time i visited a small Church and they were having a worship service and i started violently trembling all over my body. I swear, as i was walking down the church isle i felt very very floaty like i was floating off the ground and felt some Greater Power weigh upon me. I have no idea how long this Mystical Experience lasted because i lost track of time. I remember asking my friend if i did anything that looked stupid. It's an Exilerating Experience!!

AlexanderMccarthey87// The standard Romanization of her name is not Myong Seong Wang Wu, but 'Myeongseong-Hwanghu(or Wanghu)' or Empress Myeongseong. 'eo' is pronounced like 'u' of English word 'bus'. She was a historical woman in Korea. You should read this wikipedia's page(en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Empress_Myeongseong).
Korean shamans believe that spirits of heroes or heroines who were killed tragically have stronger power, and they can become deities who helps shamans.

Korea is a Buddhist culture country that has lived with Buddhism for thousands of years. Our ancestors tried to overcome difficult times with the power of religion, or Buddhism.
Did you know that the world's first metal type was made in Korea a long time ago? It's called Jikji, which is a Buddhist book.

Korean religion student here. The Christianity that is in Korea has been adapted to their customs because Roman Christianity had aspects that went against their culture. Korean pastors don't do exorcisms, cause that's a role still today performed by shamans. And with Buddhism, they still stick to their traditions in ancestor worship, and even if they go to church, on national holidays they will still make shrines with food offerings and pray to their wellbeing and protection. So don't spread false information if you don't know anything.
