As a fellow finalist, unfortunately not winner. I appreciate how much work goes into these videos, yours and the Hawaiian guys were my favorite. The DVD player as a monitor was a great idea
Wow... This brings me some flashbacks of when I was like 8 or 9 years old (so.. around 2007.. maybe 2008) I had a Compaq Presario laptop with a Pentium III in it running Windows 2000, a hand-me-down ancient machine even by 2007 standards. One day I accidentally stepped on it and cracked the LCD, but because it had a composite output, I was able to plug in a Sony portable DVD player to use it as a monitor. Eventually I was able to frankenstein the broken screen off the laptop and create what is known as a "halftop". I also had trouble reading text on the screen, but I was able to mitigate that by going to the lowest possible screen resolution. By then, my "laptop" was on one of those flimsy TV dinner trays in what was the "playroom" at the time, the DVD player "monitor", and a keyboard, and a mouse. Of course we had a real, very much more functional and modern family computer, but most of the time my dad was hogging that... this "laptop" was mine and only mine.
If we're ever in an apocalypse, this is the man you need on your team to cobble together working tech from junk! I would watch a channel dedicated to getting things working when there's little to no hope of it! Congratulations on your win!
Damn, I am so sorry you didn't win because this is truly a masterpiece! At least you got another subscriber. That's something, I guess. :D Edit: WAIT A MINUTE, SO YOU DID WIN?!
I'd kinda also like to hear some of your LTX stories...... But moreso how you found/made composite video from the old laptop. Technically it has analog over VGA, but it'd be a bit of work to convert that over.. did the laptop have svideo or something? Regardless, congrats, and that laptop seemed like a fun project.
I use a hot pile of garbage known as Fusion 360. I wish I learned something else first but I kind of know of to use Fusion now so I'm kind of of stuck with it.
Monter 💀

@@t8db yeah the laptop had svideo so I just had to add 2 resistors to convent to composite.
I think your voice just straight up shattered at the end
I'm studying computer engineering and I can't do half of this stuff lmfao
@JAZ Simulating stuff yeah. I can't do most shit on hardware tho. I can also do VERY basic embedded systems programming on PIC32.

I use a hot pile of garbage known as Fusion 360. I wish I learned something else first but I kind of know of to use Fusion now so I'm kind of of stuck with it.
