@Florida, Hawaii & Australia fan yes Peter was one of the best. But that doesn’t take away from Barbara’s talent. Password is a game of pairs and in these games she and Peter were paired with with some real, shall we say, intellectually-challenged partners (I think the technical term is eejits), like buck-toothed Jim, who couldn’t come up with the word marmalade when Barbara gave him the clues ‘jam’ followed by ‘orange’ in the lightening round🙄 Then Peter got saddled with him in the next lightening round because Barbara was stuck with the even dimmer Lynn. Neither could seem to figure out the answer ‘pout’ even when Barbara and Peter were both so expertly acting out the word right in their faces🤪 Because Peter was so good, not giving up on Jim Sawdust-Brain when he couldn’t come up with ‘waiter’ after being fed clues like ‘server’ and ‘restaurant’ (his first brilliant answers were busboy and Maitre D) Peter finally managed to get him to say the obvious answer and continue on just before running out of time at the bell to bring the score to 250. Brilliant! and Barbara was excellent too, let’s give credit where credit’s due. Jim and Lynn. . . not so much.
Actually, Lawford was no exception. If you watch the other Password shows as well as practically all other TV programs, games and shows from the 50s and 60s, as a rule, every single gentleman stood every time a lady entered or left the room. Often, the men would also offer and adjust the seat for the lady.
I've never seen this show before (I'm English) but to me, the set and the lighting look very modern. At first I thought it was a 90s show, not a mid-60s show! :-)
I grew up with Barbara Eden in I dream of Jeannie!! And bewitched, and Sanford and son, and Archie bunker, and The Jefferson’s.. And The Brady Bunch too!, And road runner cartoon, bugs bunny! Speed racer, Wylie e. Coyote
0:35- "This portion of 'PASSWORD' is brought to you today by NEW SUNSHINE RINSO! With 'Sunshine Whiteners' that make your clothes as bright as clothesline sunshine!"
Craig Smith, True, and this came back to my mind too, but, at the time of this show, he was just a baby, and she *did* get to see him grow up. ♡ the loss was of no fault on her, nor her ex-husband.
Absolutely one of the most stunning women to ever grace Hollywood. Go back and view her appearance on the Andy Griffith show. She was absolutely breath taking!
Barbara Eden met actor Michael Ansara while he was filming his hit TV series Broken Arrow. The two were married from 1958 to 1974 and Ansara made several guest appearances on I Dream of Jeannie. The couple had one son together,
I've just started to notice Betty White in the audience on different episodes at the top of the show when the camera scans the audience. Did she always attend tapings when she wasn't a celebrity player on the show?
in those days, men and women were very good looking, with beautiful hair, elegant, polite and obesity was rare... the complete opposite of nowadays, unfortunately.
Are you kidding? It was the era of awful hair, fake smiles, bad teeth, smoking and drinking, closed-minded, judgmental, racist, sexist people, infantile sense of humor, censorship, etc
Barbara has not aged in 50 years; the sole surviving cast member from "Jeannie" in 2020. She and Michael Ansara made such a gorgeous couple. RIP to Michael and Matthew Ansara.
Today, Band-Aid is hyphenated, so it is one word, not two words like the hosts says it is. Barbara should have gotten that opportunity! I looked at a 1966 version of the Band-Aid logo and it does have a hyphen in it. C'est la vie!
This woman playing with Barbara is about stupid ..2 days in a row she gives the password..geez🤦🏼♀️with that said, the English teacher is one smart dude
They didn't fix game shows in that era. Not after all the trouble they had when the cheating scandal happened, and producers knew they were being watched closely.
if you'd watch all the PW episodes, you'd know that Peter Lawford was in at least a dozen of them and 'snore' has been used in about 2 dozen episodes. I'm pretty sure he's caught on about now.
@@nibsvkh no thats wrong. I used to watch as so many did, every day in the morning was game shows on tv, some in the afternoon. the 50s thing was long forgotten, this is stupid he knew the answer and Id bet there are books written by insiders of that day saying they were rigged, Ive seen Lawford in 100 movies, hes an actor, that was OJ simpson struggling to put on the glove.. "snore" ? wow.
@@juansierralonche9864 thats totally wrong, they sure did fix them! no one could care abt the scandal thats old news. Look at Matchgame 77 78 79 it became a porno outlet. Dumb Dora was SO dumb! (audience:) how dumb was she????? She was so dumb, she wanted to blow a whistle, but instead unzipped her husbands pants and blew on his... BLANK? (audience roars) whats that Charles? I said was he well endowed?
This isn't a fair game. Every time Barbara's side has to say the first word and that gives the advantage to the other side, as they now have two words as clues (the word Barbara's side gave and their own)
The first woman contestant wasn’t the brightest button on the jacket. I don’t know why they used an announcer to say the clues even though the words were displayed.
Well aren't u a silly little perfect boy!! Also they used the voice to say the words because of something different and also just maybe there were blind ppl watching. U think??
Peter must have been handsome at one time but too much smoking and drinking messed it up. He seemed like a fun gay party boy. Those glamorous stars liked to hang out with him.
Sinatra wanted an in with the President so he allowed Peter to hang with his crowd. After JFK was shot, no rat pack. Also he got divorced from a Kennedy. All of a sudden his life went downhill. He turned to drugs, alcohol, and women way too young for him.
So nice Betty was almost everytime on the set, either playing or watching, you can spot her in the audience this time
I caught that too.
2:39 - Barbara's little giggle is hilarious.
Barbara is so smart and lovely! God bless her!
Impressive Password player. I think Barbara was very well read and studious as a child.

"Watch out ladies the men are in scoring position. The password is moist." Nice.
The best way to NEVER score is to make comments like that.
"Vagina!"
Obviously a different world back then.
A favorite Game Show as a kid
This WOMAN WAS GORGEOUS....she could melt iron with that pout.....
This is my favorite match-up, Barbara Eden and Peter Lawford. They are adorable.
Barbara is such a gorgeous and intelligent woman.
And Michael Ansara was a good match for her. A least for a few years.
Yeah, the world is full of them.
@@Bigbadwhitecracker l just saw that he lived to be 91 years old. Pretty impressive. 🕊

It's from 1966 or 1967. I agree. Nice set and design. The show was very popular here in the U.S. Nice old Quad videotape footage too.
That looked like Betty White in the audience.
During the show Allen asked her, "What do bears have Betty?" And she answered, "Little bears." It's around the 5:16 mark.
Allen was the love of her life. They were an adorable couple. ❤️
At the :30 mark? Yes. It's possible.
yes, it was Betty!
She's always out there.

That giggle of Barbara's was perfect for Jeannie.
Barbara is so cute!!!!
ADORABLE. I would have said "Barbara"
Barbara Eden is breathtaking
I still love Barbara Eden
Nowadays we would never encourage anybody “to keep your cigarettes in the car” lol. I guess secondhand smoke was unheard of back in the 1960s.
Claude Lambert - and through the 70’s and most of the 80’s.

He's got a smoker's cough on these shows--good way to an early grave.
On some episodes with him he is actively smoking.
Sadly, Eden's son dies of a drug overdose in 2001 at the young age of 35. He was a bodybuilder. She was devastated. :-(
Craig Smith, True, and this came back to my mind too, but, at the time of this show, he was just a baby, and she *did* get to see him grow up. ♡ the loss was of no fault on her, nor her ex-husband.

Did you notice Betty White in the audience clapping
3:19 excellent clue.
I wouldn't have won this game. I would've been staring into Barbara Eden's eyes.
She's amazing. What a woman. 10/10.
Is that Betty I see in the audience.
I've just started to notice Betty White in the audience on different episodes at the top of the show when the camera scans the audience. Did she always attend tapings when she wasn't a celebrity player on the show?
She was married to the host of the show, so she was present in the audience of most of the episodes
Thanks for sharing!
I was surprised by some of the clues they allowed - living room, hmmph... I thought interjections and 2 words were not permitted?
Password: Peter?
Answer: Uh...cheater?
Announcer: Yes!
in those days, men and women were very good looking, with beautiful hair, elegant, polite and obesity was rare...

That was before they started tempering with the food. Additives are addicting!

It seems like alot of people get stuck on the clue marmalade in the lightening round
Betty White in red, front row 00:29 : D
Good catch! The host Allen Ludden was Betty's husband from 1963 until his death in 1981. That was likely her in red.
Cool. So many people wearing glasses too.
Time Capsule. A delight. How the world has changed since then... for the worse
Happy birthday Betty White. Yes she's in the audience in a red dress. Today is her 96th Birthday. Wow time flies

There's someone under the table to pop up the words and change the scores lol
"Button" and then Barbara Eden wins it with "belly"!
She doesn't have it.
Remember to keep your cigarettes in the car people.

On Password, hyphenated words are the same as two words.

No, that was Jay Silverheals.

0:29 Betty White.
why are there no colored players? (asian black brown)
There was one, a Black man, with Bill Cullen as a contestant that I saw, but that was a rare sighting. Remember, this was the sixties.
I've seen only 3 players of color so far, and of course Sammy Davis Jr who was Super! In the '60s it wasn't a commonplace sight.
+Sandragail Goudelock something only certain people would even notice or mention.
The enforcement of the rules is sort of lax in this game.
