I had an English teacher in junior high school who reminded me a lot of Brett Somers. Same years as Match Game, 1973-1976. She had the same weird sense of humour, and raspy voice. She was a great teacher. I remember the teacher saying that some of her students had 'diarrhea of the mouth.' Very Brett-like.
This was a time when celebrities were more accessible and down to earth. Of course the general public were down to earth and not celebrity crazed either. They had a job , family and friends to attend to. There was no 24/7 television. Media actually had to shut off (close) for the evening. Your phone was not a hand held entertainment device. Simpler times.
And it was a much safer and simpler time to live. I'd give up the cellphones and computers to live in the 70's again. Don't know about you but I had a blast.

You woud probably LOVE the entertainment back then - but, they were very hard times,with high inflation gasoline lines and odd-even days (you were allowed to buy gas only on days that were odd or even depending on the last digit of your license plate.

I cant lie... it amazes me how touchy feely the host is to the female contestants. But at the same time, its nice that they arent so PC. They could never get away with that today. I miss these days. So thankful for UA-cam!
The assumption there is that it was welcome. Richard Dawson always creeped me out kissing everyone, but apparently they asked each woman before the show and if they said no, he just glossed by the moment. Very few women said no. I never really noticed so much with Gene Rayburn. It would certainly go be nice to still live in a world where you could just read the moment and worry about being wrong if you actually were.
You have to realize abortion had become legal in Jan 1973 and the pill was already around since 1960. People were uninhibited it seemed after that. Legalizing abortion changed the world in America a lot IMO. This would not be on TV in 2021(with the innuendo and calling people Dumb Dora, etc. They would be called out on a lot of things here) with the world having gone PC for several years now! So things then changed again in SOME areas; not ALL.
