Kadlekayi Parishe 2022 - A Groundnut fair which happens every year mostly during November 3rd week. Not specific on dates as it falls on Indian calendar Karthika Masa 4th Monday.
It is believed that farmers across Karnataka gather at Bull temple road Basavanagudi to offer their groundnut harvest to Basava ( Bull ) who resides in Basavana Gudi Temple.
The story goes like this - Groundnut and Peanut seeds were being destroyed by Bull during 1537 AD and one fine day farmers decided to chase the bull and this bull happen to reach the Hill top ( Gudda ) and becomes a statue.
From then farmers started to believe that its their Demigod and starts worshipping it. And eventually every year during Karthika Month they started to offer their Annual crops to Basava as Neiveidyam.
In Later days Nadaprabhu Kempegowda built a temple for Basava and named it as Basavanagudi.
Thats how Basavangudi is born!
Kadlekayi Parishe is two day festival. However, goes live for more than a week.
You can visit it from morning 10am till night 10pm.
