Fred Meyer is not only not negotiating in good faith, they aren't honoring the contract they signed in the last negotiation. Not only are they trying to screw their employees, they're trying to screw the public with the proposed merger with Albertsons. If you think food prices are bad now, think about a market oasis but for the retailer not the consumer. With no real competition Portland metro would become one of the highest priced regions for food in the country. Don't think privately owned markets might save you. Albertsons would either buy them outright just to make them go away or price them out of the local market with their vendor agreements. There is no upside to this and the cost to consumers & all small food oriented businesses including Portland's renowned restaurants would be astronomically detrimental.
The feds need to go further than blocking the merger. They need to break them up.
if they werent profiting from it all they would. but you know how it goes.
When Albertsons took over Safeway (not that long ago), prices on several items have almost doubled. Safeway's "deals" have been hollowed out to a fraction of what they were. Any time there's a monopoly, prices go up. Kroger wants consumers to think otherwise, think again.
Bidenomics did that.
@@Bona19646😂😂😂 nonsense
I remember before the merger Safeway would have some pretty smoking hot BOGO deals.
I was in Fred Meyer yesterday. it's so absurdly overpriced now i literally considered asking a floor person WTF
yes but, safeway is just as expensive, unfortunately, especially the ones in the low income corridors, because they know more of those customers don't have their OWN transportation, so either have to walk to those stores, or have an easy path to mass transit!
@@marmac7619What Safeway items are priced different in ‘low income corridors’ than other areas? In my experience, the prices are the same in all district stores.
now look up what the CEO said behind the employee's back in closed door meetings. You will find a very different attitude.
Where can I find this?
Easy enough for me to quit going especially since their prices are absurd now.
You have to do what you can to stop it
Merging all three stores Fred Meyers, Albertsons, Safeway will increase pricefixing
No mergers. Let the weaker retailers to go bankrupt and close all their stores.
Who is responsible for devaluing the dollar, causing inflation that results in all these price hikes?
Kroger sucks, I hate these overpriced crappy grocery stores in the Pacific Northwest.
The portions are smaller and 50% higher every year. The oranges are always dry, the vegetables are full of pesticides and mercury from pot ash fertilizer.
Kroger has been price gouging since they announced this merge. They said AFTER the merge goes through prices would be lower. As far as I am concerned they do not care about their employees. They have cut any and all things they could from their employees. The uplift and core values are not being practiced at all. They tell everyone what they want to hear that's it. Employees are the ones taking the hit from all this since the pandemic started. You need to take care of your employees. They will take care of the customers. They change policy often to trap employees.
Albertsons is already the highest prices of all the grocery stores I’ve ever seen. Albertsons going out of business is a long time coming.
They are not your neighborhood friendly store. They are Kroger. It's like the difference between Lutheran and Methodist if you have no idea about religion.
Hahahabloooo
lol there is no difference lol
Sounds like a lot of BS to me
Anyone believe Kroger's loaf of bread chart showing 1 penny profit? I don't either.
It’s also hilarious they chose a bread loaf to signify $1. Like, AT WHAT FREDDY KROGER can you buy a loaf of bread for a $1?? The only thing they are slashing are the walkets of the consumer, not prices.
Why does Rodney McMullen the CEO of Kroger’s making $15 million a year and his average employee only make $15 an hour… maybe he needs to pay them more
And you probably didn’t know this Mitch McConnell‘s wife is on the board of Directors.
its one of the biggest flaws in americas late stage capitalism. ceos make way too much money. money that if we are to split it up by actual work load, belongs to the earth and to workers
Where's Katy Porter when you need her.
how much of that 13c chunk goes to in store workers vs. corporate?
I no longer support the Fred Meyer's employees who were on strike. As an Instacart shopper who still needed to make a living during the strike, I was repeatedly harassed by the striking employees @ the Burlingame Fred Meyer's. From having my license plate video recorder while driving into the parking lot, being told I should wait to do Instacart shopping until after the strike (no wages for a week, lol, ok?!) and stare downs from the strikers. Those A holes fighting for better pay and making me try to feel guilty for trying to make a living. A bunch of sad and misguided people.
You can drive for Uber , DoorDash, Lyft
@@lowrollerscratcher3563 Nope, my vehicle is 1998 and doesn't have back seats. And you're gonna say you can buy another vehicle. Right, after I make some money on Instacart. You are one of the very reasons the world sucks.
that bread graphic is misleading. not all products pull in profits equally
Kroger is lying their ass off. 1 cent profit my ass.
Don’t just watch. If you’re getting killed by these grocery prices, please know there’s multiple reasons. This will only make things worst. Do something… contact them, sign a petition, etc. We all do something, it’ll make an impact.
POWER TO THE PEOPLE!!!
Well, apparently being #3 in our Market is just NOT good enough, so its #1 or Bust! Better to shut down these 'smaller' stores in areas where Folks have to walk or atleast have easier access to mass transit, so they can expand out to Suburban Sprawl. Afterall, who really cares much about the Indigent anyways. One can only hope that the "Middle Class" isn't at all happy about this either, or it'll be just another news bleep flash in the pan, probably get less airtime than the police cutting out their property crimes - division.
19 an hour is not enough for a Union job.
They sell every bag at 10 cents, giving them a 7 cent profit on bags. They are making all their money off selling us grocerie bags...
Pffttt 😂 🤣 at what Freddy Kroger can you get a bread loaf for $1? I think it’s hilarious they chose to use that as a graphic. Shows their blindspot not only for their own prices, but their inability to imagine we can see past their “1c profit” lie.
FREDDY KROGER!?!?!?!?!?!?!. incredible. using that forever lol
I'm not so sure they are being honest how much they pay the workers. Depending on location if the say cost of living is lower then for sure they pay you less. Also how many full time jobs vs part time jobs. A lot of grocery stores now mostly hire part time, very few full time. Also not to forget that Kroger shut down stores in California during the pandemic to not pay the extra $2 per hour to workers during the pandemic while making record profits.
Maybe "grosherie" employees should negotiate their own wages.?
Mispronouncing the word, "groceries" and "grocer" as "grosheries" and "grosher" is as annoying as people who mispronounce, "Oregon" as "Oregone." No on else in the US mispronounces groceries, see, there's no "sh" anywhere in the spelling, besides this area and Florida.
I think you're missing the point of the strike although I completely understand and agree with the slow, steady decline of the English language in the media. Please read my comment.
thanks for your input gary
Many car enthusiasts mistakenly pronounce "Porsche" as "Porscha", there no "ah" on the end, it's just "Porsche".
Well my Oregonian neighbors pronounce it as "Oregun." Try living with that!
It’s a regional dialect thing. Get over it, or move to the Midwest where they pronounce it the way you prefer.
I’m still going to shop there
