All Songs are so great. His Guitar playing is one off ,for me ,the Best.I,m a great John Denver Fan,for sings 12 String guitar and Tommy Emnanuel but today i must say Ralphs Music bring nevthevbest in my live.
About Joseph Spence - a guitarist and singer from the Bahamas with a very unique playing and singing style. Ralph is partially immitating him in this tribute to him 🤗
You can buy a tablature book with this and many of his other great songs, which will be a good guide your picking. It's called "Songs for Six Strings". You can find it on his website. If you are new to finger picking guitar, Streets of London is an excellent way to learn the basics. It's relatively slow, sounds like magic and gives you a good feel for this style - picking patterns (claw hammer) & adding tune to the harmonies and bass runs by lifting or setting a finger down here and there.
...and at 2:42, comes "Great Dream from Heaven" - one of my favourite songs. I first heard it on a Ry Cooder LP, and I think Ry got it from Bahamian musician Joseph Spence.
One of my favourites of Ralph's, the Spence tune is also known as 'great dreams of heaven' or 'old gloryland'. Also check out John Renbourn's playing of it which he segues with 'abide with me'. Two of the worlds best guitarists, both from England.
Would anyone happen to know what Ralph plays in the intro (a la Spence, I believe? ) from 0:00 to 0:07? I can't really get the hang of it, but finally have all the rest nailed now ( well, almost LOL ).
He is all time the best!!!

I absolutely LOVE these two pieces. Such a wonderful and honest tribute to Joseph Spence. Fabulous playing 🙏😜👍
The instrumental at the end is also known as ‘old gloryland’ and ‘great dreams from heaven’ - John Renbourn used to play (and sing) it - lovely tune.

What a fantastic performance compared to the "studio" version. Great!

That's how I really got started with finger picking - after just knowing
some of the basic chords and some very primitive picking prior to that.

Great song and performance- Ralph makes it look easy to play but is isn’t.
Effortless!!! Not a bother to him!!!
