At the beginning of WW2, the RAF confiscated the four 108s on the British civil register. These were designated as the Messerschmitt Aldon and used for communications. Later, captured aircraft were added to the strength. There were some potential "blue on blue" incidents when some RAF fighter pilots misidentified the 108. They remained on strength until the mid-1950s.
Good review and aircraft! I love the character of older aircraft and warbirds. I usually end up watching your MSFS reviews more than anyone. Keep em comin. 👍💯
Cool! Ever see the movie "The Great Escape?" Two of the escapees, Hendley and Blythe, steal a Bf 108 to fly over the Swiss border, but the engine fails, and they crash-land; Blythe is shot and dies, while Hendley is recaptured. The movie had some epic motorcycle riding by Steve McQueen (and/or his stunt guy).
I love the engine sound, brings me tons of de ja vu because of all the movies 👍 Got a question though. Landing speed - 100 kmph, roughly 55kn, isn’t it a bit too fast? I mean they were meant to use grass strips, isn’t it a bit on the edge? I wouldn’t risk riding my car on the grass at that speed 😊
Should see spitfires landing then! Grass airfields isn’t grass fields, they are smoother, bigger aircraft just can’t fly much slower and iirc this girl stalls at 46kts so 55 landing is on the notes.
Picked this up last night , fantastic aircraft and great value for money . The two numbered dials , towards the lower left of the seat on the side panel , represent trim + flap levels 👍. ( p.s Great vid 👍 ) .
I enjoy your reviews and I know you said the ICAO code in the video, but it would be nice if you put the airfield code in the info under the title as you fly from some interesting airfields all over the place.
If you go to the Kermit Weeks channel you'll find several progress videos on their restoration project of a real BF108....................................
The glass flickering is probably down to this. " Z-fighting, also called stitching, or planefighting, is a phenomenon in 3D rendering that occurs when two or more primitives have very similar distances to the camera. This would cause them to have near-similar or identical values in the z-buffer, which keeps track of depth. " not an exclusive artifact with MSFS, i've seen it many times in games.
Won’t be buying it due to the lack of engine power management and the consequential damage modeling. They can keep it. Flying iron and millviz have figured it out. Why can’t indibuilds? I’m confused as to how people still can’t meet the standards.

Great looking plane, and a good reminder to revisit Deutschland. Thanks for reviewing!

I totally agree, as unique and different as this bird is, it is a welcome addition to my GA hangar! Thanks for the review AvAngel!!
Very enjoyable flight and review. I'll be picking this one up. Thanks!
A great review, thank you. Left hand side indicators are for pitch trim and flap position :)

Thanks again for another great review, looks very nice, one for the vintage list.
Great review. Thanks AvAngel. This will make a nice complement to my Bf 109 in DCS. :)

@@AvAngel Thank you! 46kts looks completely reasonable!

Looks great. Glad to see (hear) that they did the sounds well. Think i'll get this
What a great job they did on this aircraft. Thanks for the review.
Had this in either 2004 or FSX. Great for GA, nice and quick, lot of features and character. Great video!
Nice video! First aircraft in ages I've really wanted to buy.
A great job you did on this aircraft. I hardly buy or download any aircraft before watching your review

Yeah that... but in modeler language :D
Talking of movies, wasn't this what they knicked in the great escape to try and get across the border into switzerland?
Yes I think
@@AvAngel Possible AvAngel “adventure?” Get to Switzerland without getting Donald Pleasance killed. 😉
