  • A first look at the Messerschmitt BF108 Taifun in Microsoft Flight Simulator - taking it for a flight from Ambri in the Swiss Alps. A wonderful little 1930s trainer, and quite a handful to operate properly. Enjoy!

    I love this little touring plane! It has a nice balance of features and still easy to fly for the most part. A favourite of mine! Nice review!

    What a quirky little aircraft 😀 ,as you mentioned though "it looks part"
    Love the little animations ..especially the way they've done the canopy not to mention the quality of the glass too.
    Great review thanks 😀👍

    It's lines (incl. the narrow gauge of the landing gear), are very "fighter" like, so it's clear to see what kind of training she was for initially. Another great video.

    Thank you for this informative and enjoyable first look. The plane and her model in the 2020 are nice. I just have to mention that her landing gears retract and drop to fast on the model. IRL the plane has a hand driven pump (something like 42-44 pumping movements for the pilot's hand ). And it takes something like 30-32 seconds to retract or lower them IRL (the fix can be made very easy in the cfg file). I also noticed than IRL when the plane is on the ground the flaps are in the take-off position almost on all of the modern videos of the real plane. What is not clear to me is her aerobatic abilities. IRL some pilots (Rudolf Hess, for example) were able to fly her aerobatic but I did not find any video confirmation of this.

    Turn on Auto Rudder it will help a lot with going sideways. My note from real Bf 108 engine performance is 2000 RPM during the climb at 0.8 "ata" manifold pressure and 1800 RPM at 0.7 "ata" manifold pressure during the cruise.

    I love it - a beautiful aircraft to go touring the smaller airfields of the UK. Challenging to fly, but not frustratingly so. You get a real feeling of accomplishment when you pull off a decent landing. By the way, you say there are no brakes - there are toe brakes, and you can see them moving. No parking brake, though. Nice review.

      You're right! There are brakes - there is some sort of strange behaviour though with them only really kicking in at slow speed.

      @@jonbeckett Yes, they're not terribly effective, are they. However, there's one big advantage - try as I might, I've been unable to get this tail-dragger to nose over under heavy braking. A rather welcome change. ;-)

    Thanks for another detailed review. For details of the full size head over to Kermit Weeks' channel where they are restoring one. The restoration is a complete strip-down and rebuild, fascinating to watch craftsmen at work.

    Great testfying Jonathan ! That seems to be a (good looking) tricky aircraft to fly. Wonder how it behaves with a bit of crosswind. I have enjoyed watching this video !🙂

    Could you please do a video on VOR navigation and Radar for the f-104?? Thanks M8 love learning from your tutorials.

      @jonbeckett  Рік тому +1

      I'll need to learn it myself first :) I'm not sure the F-104 has VOR navigation. The radar is a separate piece of software.

      I don't know - I didn't even know the Taifun existed until this appeared in the simulator. It's "interesting" to fly :)
